I was visiting my brother when he worked on the east coast and stopped for gas in New Jersey. These two dudes were at the next pump talking with the thick Jersey accent. I thought they were fighting at first, but they were just loud and talking. I was staring like, “Oh my god… they’re REAL!”
I’m sure not everyone from there is like that, obviously, but it was totally surreal to see something I’d only ever experienced through parody in real life like that.

I don't know anyone from Jersey. I've never been to Jersey. I am familiar with Jersey Shore, so to me that's EVERYONE from Jersey, and I will keep believing that.
I’m from Jersey. Most of them in that show were from upper class New York. North Jersey is influenced by New York. South Jersey where I’m from, camden, the bridge to Philly is right there and essentially an extension of it. Majority of everyone has a Philly accent and family there.
