Great DIY rig. One suggestion... Instead of drilling / screwing into the narrow edge of the MDF, get a strip of 1" x 1" and put in the joints of the pieces (top & sides), screwing through the flat surfaces of the MDF into what is now a wood gusset.
Indeed but you can get some very good fixings for MDF,most people use the wrong ones.It's uniform structure which makes it easy to work and finish also gives it better holding properties than most softwoods if fixed properly and a glued and maybe even dowelled joint would be better still,more durable and stronger,even more so gusseted.

Interesting, gave me some ideas. I think I would use a battened frame inside for additional strength. How the guy managed to keep all his fingers is a mystery. I'm not a DIYer myself but the guy didn't seem worried about his own safety.
that speaks for itself i think.... the rig came out (with pedals/wheel etc) at about 30kg my weight is 72 so that just about works out great. However when i friend of mine took place in the seat i saw that the wheels had a hard time....my friend weighs 105 kg so..... like i said in the video just about right for me but not for everyone....
@@channelvr1293 sure, I didn't meant to be pedantic, I use casters a lot to be able to do woodworking at home and I use similarly spec casters, I can say they usually have quite a tolerance, at the expense of durability, but for this case I think you can abuse them and wouldn't matter if they deform a little bit.
@@cupcake474747 nope works perfectly the wheels are pretty cheap so they dont really work well you need to apply a bit of force to get them going , in this case that's a good thing ;-)
@@elsupernelson9475 1.8 cm should be more then enough .... can go higher but your rig will be heavy....just make sure you add corner reinforcements....either metal or wood.

You can do this...honestly its dead simple...... just count your fingers before you start.... and count them again when finished.....just to make sure.

Actually a very good question.... I have been drilling holes in my rig for adding holders for headphones and VR set. And I had to redrill some of them. And honestly you can't even see where I have made a hole. It's also good if you bump or hit your rig (and you will) then you don't see the damage so well 😉👌 but if you are on a tight budget go for the cheapest MDF you can find 👍

But you wanted to make a video about the cheapest simrig you could make, could have spent a few euro's less 😇 Another question, how tall are you, and do you think you have enough space in the rig? It seems a little low. I know you said you were limited to the one mdf plank, but seeing a full size normal color mdf sheet goes for 26 euros where i live, i might want to make it a bit higher.
@FuzzyFrogAmarantha I'm 1,76 but I got a friend that build one and he's 1.87 and fits perfectly. No need to buy wood ,old stuff or even a used door would to the trick. Btw the seat is on rails so length of legs is no problem.

It's actually very sturdy, I have a friend that's about 95kg and he is working it... You can always use metal L Shape studs on the upper underside.. You can stand on it 👍😁

get your self a proper car seat from a scrap car. Better quality and more ergonomic then any of these knockoff "race" seats. Im just in a process of building mine, with car seat from a Audi A4, with adjustments for height, slide, and back angle.
@@jaimebazarradias4211 i paid mine from an Audi A4 3 years old, $100. Perfect condition. You'd be surprised how cheap you can get parts from part out cars. Just make sure they are manual, not electric seats

Clamp your work piece while cutting,it makes it easier,safer,better for your blade and you get a better cut.

FIY in case you don't, 30kg is how much weight each coaster withstands, so if you install 4 coasters you have capacity for 120kg

Why go for the expensive black mdf, when you gonna paint it afterwards? Nice build though. Looks nice and seems not too hard to build…

The dimensions are in the video, the whole rig comes out of one standard mdf plate 120cm by 240cm

please don't do what this guy does please clamp your mdf sheet and also use a scrolling blade on your jigsaw to get much better cuts
yep i did say more than once in the video that i'm not a PRO carpenter.....and there are better ways of doing it ....;-)
