  • Star Wars: The Old republic is an MMO that was released by Bioware in 2011, and is the continuation of the original knights of the old republic RPG.
    V Links Below :D V
    SWTOR has a tab targeting combat system, and is known for having one of the best stories of any MMO. Bioware recently released a new expansion called Knights of the Eternal Throne, which features a multitude of feature changes, as well as a continuation to the previous expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire.
    In the video, you can navigate through the different sections (Gameplay, Story, leveling, PVP, Endgame, Final Verdict) by using the menu that pops up during section changes.
    Alternatively, the right arrow skips to the following section, and the left arrow goes back to the previous section.

    Good video, thank you. Only thing I might have different observations on is companions. We lost some of our main companions (likely associated with the voice actor strike around that time) and gained a ton of new companions with Fallen Empire and Star Fortress missions. IMO, BW chose to normalize companions skills by giving all companions DPS, Tank, Healer specs because players with DPS, Tank, Healer characters needed a complimentary companion for the missions and star fortresses where specific companions were required as they were integral to the story. They also dropped companion gearing because it would have been near impossible to get all companions optimally geared.
    There are still companions that do better with certain class/spec performance. Dual weapon companions have better DPS. Melee companions are better at standing in the enemies face, taking aggro, and staying closer to your melee character. Z0-0M is the best heals because of the hidden bonus AOE, Lokin is the best Tank because he jumps right back to the target when pushed away and holds aggro better as a result. Just my observations, thanks again... ;)

    Recommendation: Buy a subscription and play the story content, you will have 1 month to experience a epic journey where you make choices that influence the galaxy....borderline Mass Effect. Just don't renew that subscription, because the MMORPG content in this game is fucking shit! Actually, everything except the story, soundtrack and some of the voice acting pure shit.
    Personal rating:
    Story 10/10 (Honestly, I would recommend the game just for that but you gotta subscribe if you wanna enjoy it all. The last 2 expansions offered an incredible story line)
    Free 2 play model 0/10 (The game will constantly throw it in your face that you should subscribe and limit EVERYTHING, even running)
    Endgame content 0/10 (Mega grind with RNG boxes, you may in fact never get your gear. Oh and no need to raid, not rewarding at all given the time it takes)
    PvP content 0/10 (Unbalanced and game engine is shit, 30 frames at the most when fighting groups of players)
    Graphics/Animations 4/10 (Although decent for the most bit, animations will often glitch or look clunky. As for visual effects, you can put everything on maximum and play your story with 20-30 frames pr sec, but whenever you want to do PvE you will have to dumb the settings down to medium at least for a smooth combat experience and as for PvP you are unfortunately forced to dumb everything down to "very low". You might ask "but isn't that just your PC that's crap?" My PC is fucking beast, I can pull more frames in DayZ or Arma 3 or Battlefield 1 on ultra than in fucking SWTOR, that's how bad their game engine is.
    Economy 0/10 (I know, weird, but the truth is so many buy ingame currency that SWTOR is chinese goldseller heaven and frankly, if there is something you want, you should buy gold/credits too. Because you are either a shit poor casual, free to play player or pvp'er. The only rich players are some bizarre basement dwelling nerds that never do anything else than repeat the grind and those weird fuckers only sell to each other at astronomical prices.)

    After playing for 3 years now, I concur they have definitely turned this game into online single player game or multiplayer pvp game. The multiplayer pve content is years old and all of the best raiders in the game have left (and probably will never come back). In the past few years, games like WOW have added 6+ new large player raids....swtor has added zero.

    • @joel7342

      thats because swtor isnt trying to be a good mmo or game, its a fanboy factory, it takes the die hard star wars fans who have no other star wars mmo to go to (now SWG is gone) and widdles them down with its f2p model till they give up and pay the sub fee and then get hooked on the game's story which if successfull it will turn them into a fanboy of the game who will keep paying them money for a below average MMO

    Well mostly true, game not worth now to be paid for
    But you forget one important thing - separation between old players and newcomers. Because with new ridiculously stupid rng gearing system and the fact that all group content is at least 2 years old (last ops and fps added, uprisings not count, they are pathetic), old players will have to play again a lot of things they already play a lot of times before just to get a little chance to get new gear, and without the gear - they cannot move to HM ops, which are mostly interesting for old players. On the other hand, newcomers after reaching lvl70 will play ops and fps a lot, mastering skills in them and slowly getting gear. So I would say, that in current state game is bad for old players and good for newcomers.

    • @ninvusoogoar6098
      @ninvusoogoar6098 7 лет назад

      the game isnt very good as a mmo. if it was kotor 3 single player RPG it would of been an 8/10 as a mmo its a 3/10. ignore the player story and focus purely on the MMO aspect's and you will find the game is horrible and its hidden behind RP elements and a passable story.

    If you're having trouble figuring out responses in dialog, I found it's very similar to what you get out of DA2 (it's probably based on the same system, or vice versa). Anyway, top is nearly always "diplomatic," middle is usually "sarcastic/neutral", and bottom is usually "aggressive." That's why your light side choices are generally at the top, and the dark side ones are generally at the bottom. If you want to control your character's tone, that's the best way to think about it, imo.

      I left when they messed up the Companions,, One minute they are fine, then the KOTFE comes out and they are changed, they were a bit over powered, so, they reduce them,, to the point they were utterly useless. I know they boosted them up again to a better level. That was on top of finding there was more grind and so on to get anywhere.

    As someone who loves MMORPGS, it all comes down to FFXIV and SWTOR for me. I am a founder of SWTOR and played to 50 then quit 'cause of work, however, I do feel like most of the negatives you listed appeals to me. For someone playing casual, that sounds like a lot things to do. Also, I played A LOT of PVP in this game and it is not as bad as people say. I always found it smooth and classes did unique things. Especially how they've bad tanks viable.

    I hate how everyone leave out how barren a lot of the planets felt. I don't mean for lack of players, I mean for lack of content. The planets progressivly had less and less content. They tried to combat this by putting in more Kill X of and putting quest objectives further and further apart.

    You cannot choose "Ranked warzones." Ranked is arena only. There are no ranked 8x8 warzones.
    Galactic command isn't just a menu that you can queue from - it's basically the only way of endgame gearing now. (Besides crafting, which doesn't come with a set bonus.)
    Overall, there is very little discussion of "endgame" in this video considering the title.
    I think you're correct that the game doesn't know what it wants to be, though.

    CXP and lootboxes are in fact NOT the primary way of getting the best gear in the game. Operations and PvP are, you will earn high lvl gear tokens in this activities. Also you will earn components that you can turn in along with command tokens to buy the next lvl of gear. The RNG of the lootboxes is just a complementary system to keep you engaged, and if you never participate in OPs or PvP, you will not be able to get your best gear. Also they introduced a new type of gear with the ossus update, that requires killing worldbosses, and leveling up your reputation on ossus and crafting.

    You seem quite well informed, I'll give you that.
    Some points seem like you just haven't bothered to play the game though, or do some research.
    Warzone commendations were removed with the latest expansion, is one example.
    Veteran flashpoints (or hard mode flashpoints) are second only to operations, when it comes to end game content.
    Please don't encourage below level 70's to do said flashpoints, because they will be undoable for the person and even more for the group, resulting in frustration on both sides.
    Uprisings (where you made me spit out my drink) are not hard at all. They're wave of adds back to back, before followed by a boss with a singular mechanic if any mechanic.

    "What was wrong with this system?"
    It sucked. Having a silent protagonist dead-eye staring through the entire game isn't more engaging. If anything, not knowing what your character is going to do beyond a vague context is a lot more interesting because it shows that your own character can surprise you. A lot like the interrupts from ME2 onward, where you give Shepard the instruction to do something vaguely Renegade-like, and you don't know whether that will be to fry a computer, punch someone, or push a guard out the window.
    BioWare dropped the silent protagonist idea starting from Mass Effect and onward for a reason: Because it sucked. Having a protagonist that can actually interact with the story is far superior to having someone stare their way through the story just so a small handful of people can project onto it.

    • @KitchenSinkSoup
      @KitchenSinkSoup 7 лет назад

      Lily Peet The silent protagonist allows people to project their voice through the character. Lots of people hate for example Fallout 4's dialogue system and Mass Effect/Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition.

    I was never a fan of MMO but I really liked SWTOR, when the game first started it was all about the story, but lately that aspect has fallen at the waste sides, and that is truly unfortunate. I think that SWTOR really needs to stop with gimmicks and go back to what made SWTOR so popular the story.

    • @joel7342
      @joel7342 7 лет назад

      They are but the probelm is they are only focusing on story and not caring about everything else. Some players like story while other likes warzones, operations, galactic starfigher, etc. They aren't doing anything to keep them entertained.

    • @ericfluellen8957
      @ericfluellen8957 7 лет назад

      Respectfully, I don't think making the focus of SWTOR the story takes away from making warzones, or any or any other operation. The main story arc makes creating those other operations far easier because the story is the base for other operations. For instance, without the beginning story you would have never had any flash points or galactic Starfighter operations, or warzones. So, respectfully I say again the story is the most important aspect of SWTOR.

    • @ninvusoogoar6098
      @ninvusoogoar6098 7 лет назад +1

      it does take away, the story is there to distract gamers from how shallow and empty the end game is AFTER the story is over. it gives the illusion your choices matter and encourages you to re roll several times to "experience all the choices!" but ultimately every choice you make has no real weight to the class story and is mostly paid lip service if its even mentioned at all. the expansion story's is just them being lazy and not wanting to continue with the class stories but instead shoe horn all classes into the same story which makes the enternal empire shit very stupid when playing a non force user who is some how able to go toe to toe with the most powerful force user in the galaxie and his children who are also highly powerfull. you cannot take half of it seriously. commando/smugler, agent/bounty hunter make those expansions too silly and unbelieveable. while on the other hand as a force user its basically a even worse version of dragonballz... just gotta get more powerfull because your not able to fight them bullcrap

      its a sequel that was supposed to be kotor 3 but half way through development they decided to turn it into an MMO for higher profit's (because you cannot attach a sub fee to a single player game without everyone shitting on you) ultimately its a bad "mmo" and notice i say MMO not game, it would of been a damn good kotor 3 8/10 in my books if it wasnt a mmo.... BUT!! as a MMO its a solid 3/10 worst ive seen in the last 15 years of playing MMOS... hell even wildstar does the MMO elements better than swtor and no one plays wildstar anymore

    Knights of the Eternal Throne does not have end-game content. It barely has content. Galactic Command was the worst thing to have ever been added to the game and I think it's ruined everything. They're also hiding too much behind subscriptions now, it will scare off the customers.

    Tried to play it (fourth attempt since launch) and got cock-blocked by their Bitraider streaming service program, which more-or-less crashed the computer multiple times and then when I went to uninstall Bitraider it wouldn't let me as it explained the game would not run without it. Checked the forums, and other players confirmed the Bitraider issue. So... Sorry Bioware... Simply not going to give your shitty game another go.
    When I was able to get the game working on previous attempts to get into it, I was not impressed by the dated gameplay nor the fact that the game loves to remind you after every mission what you COULD have been rewarded if you were a subscriber. Some missions were even denied to you outright because you weren't a subscriber. Now, I'll be honest, I love Star Wars more than Star Trek (but I like them both) and when Star Trek Online has a much better F2P Model and you're not constantly reminded of how terrible you are for not forking over more money, then I can't help but think... Why am I even bothering? Is my love for Lightsabers and the Force so strong I'll put up with what basically amounts to abuse from the Devs? No.
    Voice acting and story were good. Love the cutscene vids and music. But don't get dooped with this one. There are better games. Especially for F2P.

      subbing to the game seems like a total waste of money, you sub for the story? why? the story isnt even that good, half the class stories are riddled with plot holes and/or written poorly with bad voice acting that makes them sound bored and are just doing this to pay off a car loan.

    Criticism: This wasn't about the endgame, this was an overall review. And a very rudimentary one at that. You just told us about a 7 year old game and didn't go into any nuance or insight about it. "You do quests until level 70. You have tab targetting combat. Raids are called operations." These are things we can read off the box (or website); we don't need a reviewer to tell us that. On top of that it takes 3/4ths of the video before actually getting to the endgame; misleading title.
    Finally, spend your damn focus and stop spamming your basic attack when you're capped, you dirty clicker.

    i love how this guy doesnt really talk about how the game actually is. its a terrible mmo. its a single player game hidden inside of a mmo just as an excuse to be able to have a subscription price that they cant do for an actual single player game. its a rather bad MMO. it should of been kotor 3

    shame, star wars galaxies was a much better MMO (note i say MMO, because it does what a MMO should do. good raids/pvp/and highly social game and player driven economy. swtor has raiding and pvp but both are wanting. raiding is stale and pvp is generic warzone style that 8/10 groups will ignore the objectives and just kill shit that gives no points. while SWG had amazing stuff, downside to SWG was it was miss managed into the ground by SOE, if you dono who SOE is then good all you need to know is its a dead company now known as day breaking games (they bought them out)

    this game became trash the minute they stopped focusing on the Empire vs the Republic. Had they stuck to that, this game could have been huge. Instead we get this story telling bs of a third party. It completely sucks.

    • @marcwittkowski5146
      @marcwittkowski5146 7 лет назад +5

      MOJO JOJO Exactly. So many people fail to see this, when it is in fact obvious. Star Wars has always lived off of the Rep/Imp conflict in some way, shape or form. Changing it for the sake of change made the whole thing... bleak.

    • @MrBas-cu7dt
      @MrBas-cu7dt 7 лет назад +4

      Yeah, i don't understand why the hell they went with this terrible fanfic-tier plot. My Wrath is more-or-less a wandering ronin yet they forced me to be an emperor/commander. Fucking hell Bioware and their overused "chosen one" plots.

    • @lonewarrior250
      @lonewarrior250 7 лет назад

      They ruined the potential for the game to be seen as an MMO the moment they made every single player the emperor. It was like the plot was written by a twelve year old Star Wars fan. I enjoyed the story up until that point, but after that I was like, "fuck this game. "

    Micro transactions killed SWTOR for me.
    I don't mind paying the subscription, but having to deal with cartel adds, and feeling like I am missing out on gear and items because I don't want to gamble with real money on cartel packs that 95% of the time give you trash.
    One of my friends plays SWTOR and he has been known to drop over $100.00 a week on cartel packs, it's a complete ripoff.

    • @Chris-ct1xy
      @Chris-ct1xy 7 лет назад +6

      What have you actually played the game??? Cartel market is not micro transaction it's purley cosmetic it does not change your stats at all SMFH

    • @darkredwing
      @darkredwing 7 лет назад

      When all they really add is more cartel items, even if its only cosmetic items then yeah you kinda of are missing out on stuff.
      KOTFE and KOTET were great stories, changes to the companion system imo was a nice quality of life addition. But instead of building on the companion's individual stories, they no longer have conversations outside of the main quest line and are all pretty much the same. Regular flash points are a thing of the past, star fighter battles is largely abandoned. And they're only now, after 2 years starting to develop a new operation with the first boss due out in a couple of months. Lets not even talk about their fancy RNG gearing system they still insist is a great idea.
      It feels like Bioware only really cares about adding stuff to the CM, everything else they just through stuff at the walls hoping something will stick.

  • @epicxel
    @epicxel 7 лет назад

    nope you will get bored easily .....damn this game is old, end game is so stale. yet ea's swtor is flawed, they recycle the same crap/items in terms of gear and appearance. they still cant implement a system where players can choose a different voice or customize their voice, hence darth sion, vader like, nihulus like etc..full body scars and tattoos still are not in the game. no new ships, space is still a boring combat play on rails, no implementation of you own personal capital ship with your own personalized crew armata a side from the companions. still cant call more than one companion at a time, no mounts to be used in combat. specialization of force abilities is limited, no force drain, force stun, basicaly just a death field, lighting and basic choke options mixed in with some lightsaber attacks depending on which cookie cutter class you play, pvp is bassicaly in a closed world atomosphere unlike swg where you battle in open world contested cities mixed with players and npc battle for influence of the planet itself for your faction.
