When I would swim alone when I was a kid I was float perfectly and close my eyes and Everytime I did it I would feel calmer then ever and I would cut off from reality and just meditate but didn't know I was meditating, it was the best feelings ever

What's with all the idiotic comments geared towards Hamiltons videos. Look him up and you'll learn that he's a highly qualified science journalist and I would be willing to wager that he knows just as much about the effects of psychoactive chemicals on the human brain as Hoffman, Leary or even Thompson. Simply judging someone's work and career based on their appearance alone is ridiculously childish. I understand Hamilton's field of study falls outside of society's perceived norm, but give him a break. Trying to put him down by saying, "he's skinny" or "his voice is creepy" is some kindergarten level school of thought. Consider being open minded and practicing tolerance towards thoughts or experiences outside your own limited knowledge and maybe, just maybe you'll learn something new, find employment and move out of Mom and Dad's basement.

Skin temperature is not as constant as most of the conversation insinuates. It's not even the same across the body. But at the very least a system could be built that used an IR thermal sensor to dial in - more precisely - each floater's average body temp and throw that data into the thermostats.

he never went in to explain any of his floats in depth, this entire series was pretty uninformative on the experience one has during a float.
Yeah, I kept waiting for him to go more in depth about his experiences and it just didn't happen. Also, not in the least bit bashing weed, but I feel like he should have done the first float sober as a sort of basis for what they can potentially be without anything else involved. You taste your food, then you salt and pepper it.

This was simply drug-culture experimenting with something else to enhance drug-experiences. This wasn't about sensory deprivation chambers and what effects they can have on a person. I REALLY want to try this. I always loved discovering parts of myself. Smoking pot helped me solve some problems, but I imagine this will help aid me in seeing more my flaws. Not to mention, the combination of the two will only unlock a vast amount of my inner being.

Thank you!! Could not agree more. I honestly seek out his videos on purpose now. In comparison to some of the other Vice reporters, he is a detailed journalist & a knowledgeable reporter. He takes the time to go into great detail about the situations he is 'reporting' about. In the end, he is doing this for the pure entertainment and curiosity for others. I find it funny that so many folks are bashing him, yet they keep watching? I'm glad someone sees genuine brilliance & compelling journalism!

That is something that I would never do... I have gotten an ear infection (Swimmer's Ear Infection), so far 3 times in my life; Just from showering. The sensation of the water line of the floatation tank getting inside my ear would drive me nuts, and wearing earplugs that would make me hear my heart inside my head works make me jump out of the tank.
Only in Colorado would you get offered weed before you go into a sensory deprivation tank.
