I'm with you on the draping part 💕🥰💕❣ When I was in school draping was my FAVORITE part. Pattern making without draping first, was and will most likely always feel like death to me 😫 . Absolutely LOVE designing and sewing but I literally LOATHE the pattern making part. It's a good thing that we took that in school first because I almost quit during that class. Draping was next so I forced myself & pushed through it. But mostly it was because I knew I couldn't move forward without it 😂 . GORGEOUS piece as always, Magickal Muse❣❣

  • @kristinedoty7876

Gunnar USE A DOUBLE GATHER STITCH, it has more control. Even better, gather stitch EACH skirt panel BEFORE sewing them together. This way, REALLY protects you from possible breaking threads and you get way more control in spacing out the density of gathers. Plus you don't get any of those bits of the skirt caught up in the seam where you'd have to pick out and resew. God forbid you overlock trimmed with that stuff!

Had to laugh at the title! Because back in the day, every teen who sewed would slave to make a new outfit for the next day! No one I knew in our little town had a dress form! We sewed, tried on, looked in the warped hall mirror, adjusted…sewed some more, and around 1 a.m., our frock was done. Despite living in a little podunk town, there was an absolutely marvelous yardage store (as it was called back then). The owner was an elderly woman with the most exquisite taste in fabrics. Swiss cottons and eyelets that flowed like silk, silks that ranged from supple tails, heavy satins, gossamer chiffons to crisp but elegantly drapey tweeds, Pendleton woolens, knife-crisp piqués, and laces that went from sheerest cobwebs to stand alone re-embroidered masterpieces. One was so beautiful, but also the equivalent of $200/yard, but I was in love with it, so my grandma made me a tattersall wool coatdress, with that pricey lace as lapels and patch pockets out of a quarter yard. Very Carnaby Street!
I love watching your process and creativity. The garment should always frame the wearer, and your creations certainly do that beautifully.

Long time fan, first time poster. Construction question for anyone who knows… how do you line the pleated bodice after you take it off the dress form and sew down the pleats? It doesn’t look like there’s any bias binding along the top so I’m assuming it was a lining attached at the top of the bodice and flipped under? Any help would be much appreciated!

He can start watching " The Devil wears Prada". Once your learn the principles of what makes "fashion" , you will start at the top. Stop making cheap dresses; study the fabrics and , especially its combinations in nuances of colors. A lot to learn Samantha.🇧🇷🇧🇷

This turned out to be such a beautiful dress, and it looked just stunning on your friend Ashley!
I do have a suggestion, though. Have you thought about using a different model type? Maybe someone outside the fashion box? Older, larger bust, waist, and hips, maybe even someone taller or shorter than you usually work with? That sounds like it would be a great challenge!

yes us bigger chested girls want ur style the one girl he did with a blue dress that was bigger she needed some under garments to wear his beautiful gown she was gorgeous but the right underwear would have made her look much better in her bodice type dress but I dont know if the dress would have hidden the shape wear enough everything he makes is beautiful he has done a wide range just not very often but most in the fashion world dont which is why bigger girls dont have alot of attention.
