I "GET AMONGST IT" at work. Im a 4th yr apprentice electrician at the Copper Smelter in Mount Isa Australia and previously to starting my apprenticeship i was an operator there, its great to see the full circle from underground to anode to cathode then copper wire.

I owned a bronze sculpture foundry for 25 years casting silicon bronze (95% copper) in 300 lb crucible. Put some folded wet newspaper on the plinth before setting the crucible in, it burns & ash will prevent them from sticking. Adjust flame (air/fuel mixture) to be slightly blue indicating a reducing atmosphere. A yellow flame is oxidizing or burning up some copper. All in all a great job! I was entertained!

Get episode Nick, You could stamp them and sell as door stops, mug coasters, paper weights etc. Get amongst it !
I reckon that you can split that size into 4, put your logo on, drill a hole in the corner and give them out for key rings, plus cheap to post. Get amongst it..... If you want!
You could look into a small CNC mill and machine the copper surfaces to get a good finish and then engrave your logo. You may be able to recover some of the machined copper as well instead of loosing it during the sanding process. Loads of options to machine all kinds of things as well.
When you do a house rewire you should attach one of you ingots above, below or at the side of the consumer unit to give a personal touch to big jobs, and then recycle ♻️ their old cables. Great video again.

Get amongst it. I think just an ingot is better than key rings or placemats or whatever. Think they’d defs work as ‘merch’ and make the wire stripping more worthwhile in terms of time/money.

Copper tea mats great idea well done for a new way to scrape
Love watching your channel and seeing the difference between the uk and us
when you sand the copper throw the drill away and do it by hand keeping the lines straight and change direction on every grit change, also wash the part and change the water to to stop contamination from the last grit. by changing direction every time you change grit its easier to see when all the previous sanding marks are gone. cutting across the sanding mark also removes easier and quicker i find. also not much point in going up to P5000 as the polishing compound is probably more coarse than that anyway.
also less compound on the mop as its the mop that does most of the cutting, by apply to much in one go will does clog the mop up and leave polishing compound all over your part (area that get covered with compound wont get polished as well)
its a slow process polishing metals up to a mirror gloss though so expect to put some time into them if you want them looking nice

Electroplate them can do copper plating for perfect smooth finish, even do gold on them.
Chalk power to remove the grease off from polishing it makes a huge difference

Mr B - before you pour into the crucible - make sure you heat it through - perhaps leave it on the edge of the furnace for a few moments before placing on the floor - will help get rid of imperfections on the back side.

What a brilliant idea from what’s probably known as a waste product, the amount of cable I’ve binned over the years , then I see you’ve gone and turned nothing into something. Keep experimenting Nick I’m loving it. 👍🏻
One cool thing would be to stamp resistance value of that copper it’s atomic number and thermal numbers that would add more to your merch line.

Logo Keyrings are a good idea. Small and light you can use them as give aways on on your you tube channel. You could also use them as give aways to customers to remind them your contact details.

Try sprinkling a little Borax on the melt before you pour. The flux will help with the end quality.

Wonder if you could tap the melted copper straight into a mould and refill through the top. Bit like making steel. Save dropping temp of pot all the time and wouldn't have to tilt molton copper. Just a thought. Loving the vids as usual

I would advise getting some refactory cement to coat that kale wool otherwise the small fibers could cause you serious problems, it will also reduce fuel consumption as it will improve insulation.
Also add a piece of cardboard under the crucible to stop it sticking

Nice video if you have not watched big stackd castings i suggest you do he will show you all the tricks etc etc especially about wearing a full face piece and how to get your castings spot on
