    You are wrong about the Green Label Arnages. They used the BMW twin turbo that was 600 lbs. lighter than the 6.75 Bentley engine. It was also more reliable, better mileage, less maintenance, and better handling. The first few years of the Red Label models would blow head gaskets around 50 - 60K miles. Imagine the repair bill for that.
    Only a few hundred Green Labels were sold in the U.S.

      I’m not sure what aspect you think I am wrong about. I own a 2001 Arnage (originally owned by the US government and based in Langley) and have driven green, red, R and T models. The green labels are dreadful. They feel woefully underpowered, are notorious for oil leaks and in general ruin the “feel” of the car. In terms of them being lighter neither car feels particularly “light”. From an ownership view over a few years with a single turbo 6 3/4 I can’t see how the engine could be more reliable. I have a full history book and while suspension bits fail (common) the engine itself has been steadfast. Having owned and maintained Several exotics for decades I certainly wouldn’t consider head gaskets a scary proposition. Replacing the turbos on the BMW (also at low mileages) is similarly costly and quite a task. While we are on the subject of head gaskets, having interviewed several shops in research for this and a forthcoming video I was greeted with a humorous fact relayed to me by not one but two shops with over 30 years experience. “People who think these cars blow head gaskets chronically don’t own them.” They went on to explain that in most cases the cars that have had failure at very low mileage were cars that were not left to warm properly. Coming up with turbo cars and building and tuning these cars you become aware of those dangers. I know of several RL still on their originally head bolts with over 120k miles. Mine has 40k miles and has been a peach. As far as rarity is concerned I completely appreciate that about the green label. The most attractive feature for me personally is that the GL use glass lens for the headlamp covers and are in that way superior. At the end of the day, to each is own. The GL isn’t the one to have in my opinion. Then again, I’m not much for the late model refresh either. I like the vertical fender lamp. It’s classic. If you own a GL I do hope you continue to enjoy it and rest assured that if it’s the right car for you , it matters not what anyone else thinks 😁 . Thanks for watching. I have another Arnage video coming out soon that I have not yet finished editing. I’ll be sure to mention your thoughts so as to give the GL a proper chance. Cheers!!

      Thanks for sounding so optimistic about the reliability of the Arnage T's 6 3/4 V8. I recently bought a 2005 with 59 000 miles. Very well cared for and I intend to maintain it as it should be. I love it's presence and the way it drives and feels. Fantastic quality. I enjoy hearing you appreciate this model so much.
      Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.

      @@secondlooksformen3836 Congratulations! Not only a great car, but this year they have become a great investment. A year ago most cars were $25,000 - $35,000. Right now it's hard to find one under $40,000.
      Could this be because of the shortage of new and used cars?

      @@TimsEnthusiastGarage I have owned a Red Label and a Green Label.
      The Red Label blew its head-gasket, the gearbox had to be replaced, the water works failed (5 new belts required) and it suffered numerous electrical gremlins.
      The Green Label was 100% reliable, more economic, and little difference in power.
      These are just my observations from real life ownership.

    • @TimsEnthusiastGarage
      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  4 года назад

      Christopher Lyon ahhh. So sorry. Well both are quite different animals. I would say both could potentially present expense that would eclipse a “normal car” in general the Audi based car presents more complex tech like air suspension, complex engine and turbo architecture etc. however, the Arnage is so much more rare that other problems exist. First off corrosion is very common on turbo r and Arnage where as the aluminum heavy spur and conti have few problems there. Also with parts being more rare and specific on the Arnage some items can be very costly. Engine bits, glass , etc are Bentley exclusive and can be mind bending in price. The windshield is unattainable right now and if you get one new from CREWE it’s 4k. Trim pieces are one off to each car and so those can present challenge. Suspension is far cheaper on the Arnage than the spur or conti and things like ball joints and bushes are quite reasonable. It’s a more basic car and easier to self service too. So that is an overview. Let me know if you would like more specific details

    • @Leo060708
      @Leo060708 4 года назад +1

      @@TimsEnthusiastGarage Well the 6.75 is a very simple and old fashioned engine which I already have experience on so no problem on that front and I am very much aware of the corrosion on SZ models having owned both Turbo Rs and Silver Spirits but have not yet seen any corrosion on an Arrange even here in the UK. I assume there is a very similar set up o the suspension to that on a Mercedes or Lexus LS430 with air struts on a Continental GT and Flying Spur, so nothing to complexed there, what areas on the W12 engine should I pay close attention to on a 2007 onwards, I am aware of the vac pipes pre 2007 hence my favour of getting a 2007 on model, but what about the actual engine what do you know about the mechanics of the engine that you can tell me, weaknesses and so on? All heavy cars suffer ball join issues and are something that should be replaced.

    How are you getting a speed of over 200mph out of a base GT as I thought they had a top speed of 198 mph and only the Speed and Super had over 200mph, or am I wrong?

    • @TimsEnthusiastGarage
      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  4 года назад +1

      With a tune (many are available) it is good for about 211 . Additionally (and I should say allegedly) stock this particular silver one was good for just over 200 indicated on the clock. I had a close friend who owned one new and saw over 200 at the Texas mile. I believe it was 201.7 on the sheet. Were they all good for that ? 🤷🏼‍♂️. Both the Spur and the CGT feel VERY healthy at high speeds. Love your profile image. Cheers !

    • @Leo060708
      @Leo060708 4 года назад

      @@TimsEnthusiastGarage So are you saying you have had this car tuned or is it stock as the base model would have a max speed of 198mph not over and its the GT Speeds that had a standard speed of 203mph and the Super that went even faster or at least thats what I was aware of, so out of curiosity what exactly did you do to increase the performance?

    • @TimsEnthusiastGarage
      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  4 года назад

      Christopher Lyon this car has a GIAC flash for the engine and tcu. It is the car that recorded the big Texas numbers. No other mods. An Arnage will never reach those speeds but is quite a different animal and much more of a stately cruiser

    Arnage looks the business, but you kinda sit on it rather than in it. I don't mind that in a range Rover, but not in a saloon car. A post MY12 Conti Flying Spur, or even a post MY09 that has an updated suspension and more sound deadening is my 'cheap' choice. Even better is the MY13 Flying Spur, take friends with you where the GT has no rear leg room.
