  • The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is a V12 Ferrari. That's pretty much the most important thing here. While styling and purpose of 2+2 Ferrari has long divided opinion it's Long rumored that cars like the Mondial and 400i were among Enzo Ferrari's personal favourites. Let road cars be road cars and race cars be race cars. This is a lovely road car, room enough for 4 real adults but when you hustle it the most amazing thing happens- it feels small, svelte and EAGER. 0-62 arriving in 4.0 flat and the 540 hp V12 singing all the way to redline. This is jewel of a car.

    It is pronounced: Skal-yetti. There's no G sound. This car is stunning in black. Subtle and discreet it reeks of old money and class. V12 Ferrari ownership should be on every gentleman's bucket list.

      @@TimsEnthusiastGarage ya... Not sure why you'd use the factory one. No way I'd leave an old head unit in. Just keep it for those that care when you sell it, but otherwise, I want actual modern features and good music, and that requires real parts. It's not like ferraris head unit is a work of art anyway....

And i don't care about sticky buttons, or lack of some android/apple car audio - no. Those cars have asoul, and they singing well ;) Kind regards and Happy New 2004 year Tim ;)

    The reason why you like the rear 3/4 view so much is because the lines on this car are exactly the same as the last gen Quattroporte....take a look at both cars from the rear and side profile

  • @travkatz
    @travkatz 2 года назад +2

    I'm struggling to think of another car in its class that compares apples to apples: realistic back seat, true GT car that you can drive sedately on a long road trip and arrive in comfort and style and then attack the twisties in with vigor. The Gran Turismo IMO is geared too short to live with as a true GT. And in other ways it's too compromised as well. Rear seats in Astons are a joke, as are XK's. The old 8 series from BMW and the 928 from Porsche are the only cars I can think of that enter my mind and the performance of those cars is around 50% of this car or less.
    I'm in love with the styling of this car, especially its hips. I agree with you, Tim. The entire rear end is prototypical Ferrari. If I owned it, I'd stare at its hips and @$$ probably more than its red heads.

    • @TimsEnthusiastGarage
      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  2 года назад +3

      Yes, you clearly “get it” . The 4 seat Ferrari are not for everyone as I said in the video. It’s funny, some people have such a visceral reaction to a non mid engined car but for many the 550/575 , 456/612 , 599/F12 are actually more connected to 60s era Ferrari greatness than the mid engined volume production models. I also don’t think people understand “Scaglietti as a coach builder “ . For me that is a huge part of the allure. The more time you spend with the car, the more you drive it, you really come to see it as a bit of a Bargain because other than the 90s Continental T and R by Mulliner there really is no other ultra exclusive coach built 4 seat car. This thing has a 199-204 top speed depending on the press you follow. It really is a class of one.

    Tim I've always been a huge fan of the 612, it's stunning and pure class to me. We have very similar taste in cars, I have the 90th anniversary gransport Spyder and a Ferrari FF ( was gonna buy a 612 but the deal fell through so I bought the FF instead but might still pull the trigger on the 612....it will only go up in value! I also have a QP GTS 2011 which is one of my favourite cars. I recently ordered the mc20 but won't get till spring 23....not sure how it will compare to v12 and V8 NA engines

    • @TimsEnthusiastGarage
      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  2 года назад

      I love the FF. It’s replacement looks fussy by comparison. The 612 does feel a bit more special and maybe more “vintage” Ferrari. The 90th anny is without peer so I would hang on to that if you are a “collector”

      @@TimsEnthusiastGarage couldn't agree more about what you said about the FF.....it looks more like a 4 seat f12 not a wagon like the lusso....my Spyder only has 15k on her and is number 90 of 90....I also had a gransport but recently got rid of it....trying to find a Mc victory

    I agree on the exhaust sound, but it has soooo much torque with that V-12. I'd take the 612 over any Ferrari V-8 twin-turbo, so would Enzo. Mine is a 2005.

    You don't need an exhaust, you need a 612 with the HGT-S or HGT-C pack ;)
    On top of the factory sport exhaust, you get suspension and gearbox tweaks. Oh and Quattroporte, I guess you need to try the Sport GT S.
    Cheers!

    • @TimsEnthusiastGarage
      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  2 года назад +1

      I still have a GS. Value wise, it’s hard to beat. The Ferrari is “nicer” in almost every single way. Ultimately it’s faster and has higher thresholds for most metrics. It would need an exhaust but even though it is a bigger car weighs about the same due to being aluminum. It’s a brilliant and faster alternative. That being said , it’s a good bit more. You would like it. It’s crazy how focused and quick it feels when hustled, it’s kind of like an e39 M5 in that way. You never expect that car to corner but it does. Cheers!
