      This is a great reminder, that often the best we can give youngest (friends, acquaintances and) family members... is the experiences and sensations we SHARE with them ...perhaps even more than (material) things we give to them.
      What you just "shared" is more significant that you imagine.
      Thanks 👍🏾👊🏾

    I have owned a Ferrari 612 for 15 years and I have to say that this is the fairest review of the much maligned car I have come across. It is a beast of a car, with very arresting looks that catch every passerby’s attention. Plus the amazing soundtrack, which admittedly on longer journeys can be a bit too intrusive. It is not a perfect car by any means, but it offer s the driver a driving experience unlike most modern cars. Its power is at the right level: punchy enough to be thrilling to drive; yet not so powerful to be scary for passengers and drivers alike. And, yes, my family of four have been able to travel very comfortably in the car as well. My only regret is that the F1 gear box was preferred in so many examples. A manual gear box would be so much more engaging and I might just consider the expensive conversion if I can justify it! Any one looking for a the driving experience of a lifetime for relatively little outlay should consider buying a good example of a 612. Well done, Ben!

      Interesting. So many people obsess over manuals that I thought I would try one. Only my pride and joy was an e61 S85 v10 and that was SMG. When that was stolen in the dead of night I couldn't immediately replace it and eventually got I to try a manual converted car. Whilst its engine had been fettled the 6-speed manual box they fitted did not help its cause.
      It reaffirmed my conviction that the e60/61/63/64 needed an 8-speed as cruising at 70 was a little too noisy in seventh and also fuel economy /range would have benefitted from a still higher gear. For the moment I 'put up with' a 450hp V12.

    Great video as always. Owned my 612 for over 2 years and loved every minute. I would agree it's not an ideal daily but fortunately it doesn't need to be. Running costs have averaged out at £1500 a year (not including insurance & tax), including a service and replacing a few suspension parts. It's a wonderful long distance GT car and on a 3000 miles road trip it was just epic and returned an average of over 20mpg!! I can highly recommend one.

    ISOFIX - You could use some ISOFIX guides. You clip them in first and then put the seat prongs through them to make it easy to dock the seat and avoid scratching the leather. I use them in my -Ferrari- Volvo. Not sure that the trade-off is worth it though as they leave indents in the seat...but as I've typed this out now, I'm leaving this comment.

    I'm with you Papa. Being 65 years old (couple weeks ago), in reflection, I realize my love for GT cars stem from my first car crush around 6, 7, 8 years old ...Jaguar E-Type. 😁
    So... the result of this childhood crush?
    😉 Long hoods/short rear proportions, luxurious leather interiors (with painted metal OR wood), fat tires, and big wheels, have defined "desirable car" through primary school, tweens,.teens, puberty, adolescence, young adulthood, middle age and up until now.😆
    Popular or not... 456, 612, 599, FF, GTC4 Lusso ...and now the Roma... are on my list of the most beautiful Ferraris of the modern era.😁
    All of this because of a father stopping on a downtown Toronto sidewalk, just to indulge his son's inexplicable attraction to a Jaguar E-Type circa 1965.☺👍🏾
    (A ten year older big brothers romance with cars kept the fires burning, too.😆)
    Loving and appreciating the art, engineering, and physical sensation of automobiles really IS A FAMILY THING.
    I have a big dumb smile on my face imagining your children driving on the highway smiling as they remember driving with Daddy.
    Ahhhhhhh 😊 Feeling a big blanket of warm and fuzzies being drapped around my shoulders...

    The best looking Ferrari Coupe by Pininfarina was the Peugeot 406 coupe. Have a look at the 2.2 diesel, with a quick tune (free from the right person) it gets 185 hp and a huge amount of torque but still does 45mpg. You can get a towbar for it too. I towed an E Type from Bordeaux with mine. Good for kids and adults fit in the back.

    Your daughters are totally adorable, as always. After a childhood of drives like this, they're going to be real petrolheads by the time they reach their teens. They're certainly lucky to have a caring and involved father like you.
    As for Ferraris, you can buy many of them fairly cheaply. But I'm still scared by the maintenance costs. A set of sparkplug leads for a Scagliatti will set you back 1,500-2,000 quid. And every engine and transmission part is just as dear. If all goes well, than you can squeak by for 3,000 or so a year in maintenance. But if anything goes pop, than prepare for a cashectomy. This is why Ferraris are rarely daily drivers and typically are run for very low miles every year. It's a shame, as they truly are a grand experience, when they're working.

    People simply don't let this car off it's leash to get a sense of it's capabilities. It feels comfortable on the road but then push it in the twisties and i can't describe how the car immediately changes into one of the most athletic cars I have ever driven. Furthermore, the harder you push it the more it responds. It really is one of the most incredible cars Ferrari has ever made. It's flabbergasting what this car is capable of. In the end it's the seats that actually let this car down. You absolutely need sport seats, however, with the seat belt attached to the seat this isn't a simple swap out.

    As for the car, I think the 612 is really coming into it's own now. It may not be the "prettiest", but I think the styling is appealing and not overbearing, as it may have once been perceived. It's got a good "cool factor" in my opinion. It looks good, it's usable and modern enough, and it's a V12 n-a Ferrari. Not bad!

    I’ve always liked the 612. It’s definitely not an ugly car, although yes it looks weird at certain angles, but to me that’s part is it’s character and charm. The mile-long bonnet is sexy as heck!

    I like the 612 Scaglietti... but there's big German elephant in the room when it comes to it- the CL65 AMG. I think that's the more accurate competitor to the 612 than the Granturismo, DB9 etc. The CL is probably just as rare, has an equivalent cost to run.... gets the same sort of mileage, has about the same performance oozes luxury on a level that the 612 cannot touch, and is far, far more comfortable. Bonus, you can get them up to 2019- for less money than the 612. If you can get your hands on one.... wow. You can also drop one level and get the V8, in the CL63.

    One of the few Ferraris since 1990 that I haven’t really liked. I mean, it’s still a Ferrari- but compared with the gran turismo- these are just so much more expensive- but it doesn’t look as good or sound as good- not any more functional or spacious. • @LukasCarek
      @LukasCarek 6 месяцев назад

      @@brogenville with gearboxes it is same as with styling everybody has its own preference. I have 4 cars, 2x full auto, 1x manual and 1x robotized. All have their own pluses and minuses, but the robot one is the most fun for me compare to the same performing car with manual box. Eg. Downshift to 1st gear is one of the harshest thing that every body owning a robot hates. So I always downshift to 1st before I stop fully. Ever. because of the event and bloody noise. Its just something the 3 other cars of mine can not do...... and there are other cases not just this, that are not necessarily smoth or refined but they are special and even if you stand on your head you can't go even close with the others.

    • @PepeLePew-c4z
      @PepeLePew-c4z 5 месяцев назад

      Hi there. I own a 612. The F1A gearbox is a robotised manual, rather than an automatic. So it won’t operate like an auto gearbox. That makes hill starts challenging, especially when the handbrake is purely decorative and of no practical use whatsoever. So you have to hold down the brake with your left foot and accelerate up the hill once the clutch has engaged.

    • @conner.9262

      @@PepeLePew-c4z I’m lost….??? This Ferrari has a manual paddle shift gearbox just like the AM Vanquish from 2002 to 2007 …. Same issue… When you stop at a traffic lights on an incline you come to a stop by breaking normal, most people will take their foot off the accelerator and break, once you have stopped slide your left foot to keep the car stationary, click the paddle shift into first gear release the break peddle with your left foot and drive away …?? No need to use a hand break…..Simple….…..

    I think the concept of this channel is great, but also somewhat badly implemented, no hate just trying to be constructive.
    I believe no one here will agree with this point, but that is because they are your target audience, and very niche on your format.
    I don't think this should revolve around your children and you interaction with them, the male audience for this will be very niche and small, you should for sure seat on the back seats, and bring your child seats and whatnot and show how useable the car will be with the family in the BORING activities that a dad must do. and then hoon around and show us what the "dad car" can do when you have no responsibility, and other features of course. because in the end a sports car is just that, being irresponsible. and even if it is not.. there is where your audience will be, in my humble opinion only of course.
