An actual engineer here. At 0:56 into the video, you said the "strength" of a torsion box is from the grid between the faces. This is INCORRECT! The stiffness and (indirectly the) strength of a torsion box is from the FACES. The stiffness and strength of any beam (a torsion box is just a wide beam) is from the outer surfaces (skins) of the beam to the 3rd power of the "thickness" from the "neutral point" (for a torsion box with equal thick faces, the neutral point is the center).
Great build pete. The nice thing about a big strong bench like that is when you aren’t using the router table it serves the added function of bench a good strong bench ☺️ Surfaces are premium in a small shop and to be able to setup the router in minutes/seconds, it’s an asset to your shop. Great build 😎💪
When I wanted a torsion box, I went to Bunnings and bought a cheap internal door. It wouldn't do that job, but with a sheet of thick MDF on top, it might. I wanted mine for a bed inside Tin Can where it's fine, affixed and hinged to the side and some fold down legs that, when up, hide the bedding. A lightweight foam mattress makes be-making easy.
I really like what you accomplish in such a small space. The efficient way you use the space should be a lesson so us all when we complain about only having a 400 sqft garage to work in. Good job Peter!

I'm really enjoying your channel - I just found it recently. On behalf of my wife, the potter, however, I am honor bound to ask: Where is your dust mask, sir???
Hi Peter nice build! You have most likely all ready corrected it ,but the motor mount should be installed on the other side of of the mounting plate. Must admit that my inner machine builder cringed a bit when i saw the cap head screws going into the tapered/ counter sunk holes.
I don't know if you'll see this, but The strength of a magnet"s pulling force is also relative to the thickness of the metal in which it's field is passing through. So the metal strips I seen you use you might test on the particular magnet you're using if a thicker strip would be better suited to your needs. I found this out because I bought a magnet switch from mag switch and it said 600 lb but when I put up a thin piece of metal it didn't hold with that much strength. It did when I put it up to a thicker piece of metal though. Of course it all depends on what you're trying to use it for. I used some small circle magnets that were really strong but I didn't need it to be that strong. That's when I had a separation material like nylon to wear this field isn't as strong.

Great build Peter! Still sometimes wonder why people don't get a (used) spindle moulder instead of a router table given how expensive they can become with all the different parts.
A good router table - quality lift, powerful motor/router and quality fence - is a better tool for most jobs in cabinet making and light joinery. Quicker set up, quieter, far less tiring, mobile or it can be mounted into workbench, easy dust management with vacuum cleaner type extractor etc... As for the cost of spindle moulder, dont forget spindle heads, cutters, servicing/part replacement and you may be inheriting someone elses problems for as long as you have it, especially if buying 1k moulder (the cost of this lift and motor and table materials). It needs proper dust extraction set up. Also space can be an issue for some. Actually most folks use a lot cheaper router table set-ups than this and have great results.
