Gabe, Great content. As our conversation went before on the Callaway mini shaft. I can see how much your swing just fit the Taylormade and the shaft they put into in. This can be a very big buying guide to which club someone purchases. Everyone needs to get fitted. You did great without one. Thanks.......... Vice Irons???????

The TM mini is magic. Never coming out of my bag. 11.5 turned up one w/ a Kaili white 70g. Best so far is 290 off a tee into an extremely tight hole (usually driving iron) dead center bird.
Center is a major theme w/ the TM. Buy it.

Can someone help me out, I just got back into golfing. I got the old super quad driver 9.5 loft stiff flex. from 15 years ago. At the range I’m hitting it 1/2 way to 3/4 way up the back net that’s 280 yards to the base. So guessing around a 300 carry with a range ball. If I upgraded to a newer driver and fitted shaft can someone tell me how much distance I could gain?

So it begs to question, have drivers gotten too big for many people to hit consistently and score lower? I have always thought drivers hit their peak performance at 400cc.

Wait wait wait!... So you Shouldn't have two 15g weights in the TaylorMade mini.
There should be a heavy 13 g weight. Mostly placed in the back. And 1.5 g weight mostly placed in the front. Because that's what's on TaylorMade's website and on my TaylorMade mini driver.
    Please double check your mini.

    Call me crazy, but:
It wasn't my original plan at all, but when I first ordered the Callaway mini it was strictly for a fairway wood replacement, but it ended up getting severely delayed in shipping, so I found one at my local shop for that weekend's round and planned to return the first one I purchased when it finally arrived.
However, what I have settled on (mostly because I have never been great with fairway woods) is I have one mini notched up to 15.5 degrees heavy weight in back and this serves as my layup tee shot club in place of fairway wood and gets me about 220-230.
I have the second mini now as my driver replacement and have it lofted down to 12.5 and switched the heavy weight to the front. it is a lower penetrating flight with much more rollout when I hit the fairway and it gets me around the 250-260 mark.
I just really like that no matter what the tee shot requires I can just put the same "driver" setup and swing principles on it and the club adjustments take care of the distance I desire on each given hole. I sold my regular driver, which I hit anywhere from 260-280 but way wider dispersion, fairways not as often, and more lost balls. this has been an incredible change for me.

If you could get your hands on the 11.5 degree TM mini, dial it down to 9.5 and move the weights to the low spin setting, it’d be interesting to see how it would match up against your gamer. I don’t carry driver in the bag anymore, and play my TM mini in the settings I just mentioned. I value fairways hit over going marginally longer but way off the as I experience with the regular driver.

The trend of big headed drivers is all wrong. They suck for the most part as they're just way too big and a giant head doesn't mean longer drives or for that matter much more forgiveness. Smaller heads are the way to go. My 300 - 340 cc drivers from 20 years ago are better than the beasts made today. And I've paid my dues and bought many big drivers over the years and still go back to the smaller heads. I bet that TaylorMade mini driver is a rocket launcher. Likely ordering one of those.

  • @dpavs8158
    @dpavs8158 Месяц назад

If you do not use the same shaft in each you are testing the driver heads... you are testing the combo and as we all know the best results will be from a proper fitting when it comes to shaft\head combo's. So, if you are not going to use the exact same shaft in each, perhaps the more appropriate way to do this is to get fitted for each and then compare those combo's head to head. Also while weight and flex are factors so is the bend profile. Shafts of the same weight and flex but with different profiles can have drastically different results. For example in this case I think we have a stiffer tip vs a softer tip as the Denali is rated at 3.7 torque and the UST is rated at 4.4.

Gabe, great review! Your review was for driver as it was made for but Im looking for a 3wood tee only replacement, do you think the cally might be better w that situation? With dry hot conditions here (AZ) and unlike sea level softer FL, we get more roll out here, so I need more spin and 3 wood distance for our dog legs par 4s, and thoughts? Maybe cut down Cally mini and inch and 3/4 swing? Any rumors of either offering a 15/16*? Cheers f 115*, ex Tampa kid!

I dumped my Steath 2 in favor of the TM BRNR - way more accurate club. What I lose in distance is far outweighed by much better accuracy. I'd say 80% of golfers need one in their bag. I'd like to see comparison of the BRNR vs the Mini.

Semigloss. I've painted quite a few old car parts over the years. Most are that color.
I tried the older 300 series mini driver. To be frank, I hit my old Mavrik 3 wood better. Distance was similar but the ability to hit off the deck was better with a 3W, at least for me. I might swing both to see but I personally don't think they are for me.
I agree with hsdillon on the 3wood vs mini driver vs driver with a 3W shaft comparison.
