Lance. I think you mean Taiga forest. And No. They are Dutch and we don't have Taiga forest here in The Netherlands. That's why I was talking about 'the yard'. The forest we have left here feels more like a backyard. Still it is a nice channel and funny, obviously inspired by some other channels about bushcraft knives. Not my channel btw, bcs I suck at filming and can't edit and I'm way to serious. But I do know about bushcraft and have tested many knives in the field. Hultafors is represented by Snickers Workwear here in The Netherlands and was basically only used as a work knife. With the Dutch Bushcraft Association I introduced the Hultafors brand in the small Dutch Bushcraft world by using it as our instructors knife and also selling it too the people taking our courses. But 70% of the time I use my bushcraft knife for food prep. 30% for other camp tasks like making small kindling. So one very important thing about any bushcraft knife I use is how easy it is to clean and how much water does it take to clean. Not important if you are camping at the shores of a lake but very important if water supplies are limited.

Honestly I didn't like their design but they were recommending the mora garberg so I ended up buying one... then another and then another... and now I want another. It's the best brand out there... the build quality... the steel... heat treatment... sharpness... it's just outstanding... and the comfort? Godly. I LOVE MORAKNIV AND ITS ALL ON DUTCH BUSHCRAFT KNIVES! So, I'm glad for your new knive! Use it with pride! This brand puts to shame all the others!
@@danielhristov6175 i got a normal companion and the heavy duty versiom, both..can i use them as my everything knives? For batoning, bushcraft survival everything?
I use a (cheap) easy to carry diamond sharpener to restore the blade from dents, chips, nicks or burrs and for the (secondary) convex edge I wear a leather belt to keep my pants up and hang my knife on. When the knife just needs sharpening take out my leather belt, put some toothpaste on the inside and use it for stropping.
Hey DBK, nice video as always! How about a long Camping-Video, where you guys maybe build some shelter, sit around a fire, Dutch Oven cooking, Knife Talk, ...? Greetings from Germany
Really enjoy the video's guys. I hope you have as much or more fun making the videos as we do watching them. Your extensive knowledge of knives, steels, ergonomics and grinds is very impressive and the tests you put the knives through are the best around. Really love the polish finish Maarten put on the A1-pro..beautiful! All your shenanigans inspired me to make a couple of my own knives using the stock removal method on 1095 x 15n20 (damascus steel) and canvas micarta scales for a skinner and bushcrafter. Fun and rewarding experience. Thanks again for the educational and fun videos! I look forward to the next adventure and learning more about sharpening/polishing~
The Mora Robust does not strike a ferro rod out of the box. But the spine is unfinished. I rounded mine near the handle where my thumb sits. But squared it off further down so I can strike fire. Then polished it up to be pretty. Best of both worlds. With an unfinished spine, you can make it your personalised knife.
For me, out of those knives Mora Robust is a winner, just because in nowadays price range of Hultafors OK4 i can think of Mora Bushcraft Black (carbon or stainless). So real question is: OK4 or Bushcraft Black ?! What would You prefer for general use?
Thanks for the vid guys!! You keep me laughing but well informed 👍👍 Next week's vid, the "knives you'd trust your life with!!". See you both next Thursday.

+Mark Anthony Stringfellow it indeed felt like the damage on the hultafors was slightly more heavy. However I was really surprised about how much more comfortable the hultafors ok4 was which made it a winner for me
Dutch Bushcraft Knives The handle is nice I have to admit and at the end of the day at the price point of the entire group we should have them all :-)) Another odd-ball made of the same steel as the hultafors Sk5 is the Bahco wrecking chisel knife in both a chisel tip and a knife shaped version, rather like a large puukko knife, got one for around £15.00, great full scandi grind, too fine for wrecking as it can fold a little but for bushcrafting amazing light chopping performance, all in the geometry and great belly. heres a couple of pictures, one with handle removed s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/0b/85/df/0b85dfb37cf5b1c4533565608b15d618.jpg and rusknife.com/uploads/post-13385-0-73233500-1456519348.jpg Enjoy!!!
I love my ok4 , it truly is a great knife , I'm a big mora fan but not having that 90degree spine is pain in the but... Thanks for sharing guys ! Take care Nick
I own all of these knives, Only thing I’d say is that the ok4 has a micro bevelled edge and the moras are a true scandi grind so for me it’s the mora every time! Great video brothers enjoyed it 👍🏽👍🏽 Best wishes for the new year fellas 😎✌🏽👍🏽
I'm gonna guess since they're usually too hefty for your typical hiker. I mean, sure if you're a sherpa that can climb a mountain with 100lbs on your back, a khukuri won't make much of a difference to you, but western bushcrafters often put an emphasis on lightweight gear. Khuks are a cool jack-of-all-trades blade though, I have a bunch in a knifely hoard.
Idk who would suggest you take out the shenanigans but aside from very very honest very fair with y'alls testing and opinions, y'all are awesome and full of life and passion in what y'all love and are willing to share it all with us everybody's a damnd critic but no one asks anyone to watch anything on RUclips t.v. movies any format, you choose to click on and watch if you don't enjoy it there's a million other channels on millions of other subjects so click elsewhere and shut the f up with criticism. Thank y'all and God bless you and yours.
This was a great review of these knives. Excellent!!! I have all 4 and love them all, and Mikki is right, these perform above many knives costing much more. Wonder what the score would be if you were allowed to sharpen the Mora's spine. Personally, I like the Mora Companion HD the best of all 4.
Your knife collection is attractive to me, I have looked every knife review you guys put on RUclips, now I am always waiting for your new video. I want also see more diffrent typ of knives, like Big brother Fällkniven A2, maybe the new modell of Condor K-tact Kukri with covex grind, Bark River Survival , Bark River STS-8. And I know you guys don't like Cold Steel, but maybe a SRK or Trail Master... Something like that
While cutting up bricks and metal is... interesting and does show the knives toughness maybe showing some knife stuff might be helpful too, like how long it held its edge how easy/hard it was to sharpen, what angle the edge is etc. or just saying it if you don't want to show it.
I just bought a Mora bushcraft black carbon. Cedric and ada on RUclips does edge retention tests with dozens of steels cutting a 3/8"(I think) manilla type rope. Very interesting results with all the steels you use on your channel! Anyways in their tests they had mora carbon cutting 133 times before not reliably cutting paper and mora 12c27 cutting 88 times! So I decided on mora carbon. They even did the garberg in 14c28n and with its factory edge it did 30 cuts 😖 but with a true scandi it did 100! Very interesting. Anyways what are your thoughts on the bushcraft carbon black? Should be a beast right? In going to sharpen it and do your scandivex edge. I mean for 39$ U.S. it can't be beat I think!
And the Hultafors OK4 is out of stock at Knives and Tools. Hope you guy receive a nice fee per sold knife ;-) Seems like K&T made a splendid choice by sponsoring DBK!!!!! Please continue the reviews as it is the best start of my week!
Mickey great impressions. You two gentlemen have really uped your productions, sometimes it's distracting but I guess keep up the good work I'm just jealous I couldn't do it.
Hi DBK, as always, I enjoyed your video. However, I would appreciate more technical data about these blades. More importantly, I would like your detailed observations about the results of each knife, such as the condition of the steel after all of this abuse. Your ability to seriously evaluate blade steel is uncommonly good and I would like to see that come back. Cheers guys!
I love you guys and i watch all your videos you deserve a lot more subscribers than you have, if not for great quality videos, but the sense of humor you have. good job :)
The Hultifors HD is an awesome knife just needs the secondary bevel removed and once ya do its amazing, glad to see budgies on the channel. Hey guys try taking a look at the Real Steel Bushcrafter "PLUS" It looks very interesting, 14C28N and very high scandi grind and also a flat grind that is actually more like a full convex...I WANT ONE😁
+Airik1111 the real steel knives look amazing for the price. We got an offer from them to get some for free but ehh.. we refused haha. I like the looks though but we need to have freedom to say it sucks if it ends up ... Sucking
Dutch Bushcraft Knives I endorse that! This is Top Gear for knives. You need to be able to make a recommendation you believe in to stay credible, despite the comedy that your channel will become known for. Stick to your guns... Or... Um... Knives 😁 Of course, you could just but one and give a very balance and honest review, then offer to the company to do more honest reviews of they send you product gratis and without obligation. The key thing is, if you're honest and credible, your reviews will sell their knives if the product is any good. If their knives are...Not so good... Then they shouldn't send in their product, and we'll know to stick with Mora, Hultafors and Falkniven 😋
Great comparison! I often thought that Mora was terrific, but there was probably a better quality alternative out there in that price point. Thank you!!
Love your video's. They are fun to watch. Good editing and everything. Don't agree with your choice of best budget knife but that is besides the point. What you did not cover is ease of cleaning. Those new Hultafors handles do have a great feel but clean a fish and try to clean the handle. You will need a lot of water. Water you can't drink any more. Where the handle of the GK I just clean using sand. Have a lanyard hole drilled and two divots to use as the top piece of the bow drill for large and small sticks. Angled the front part of the blade so it is great with a firesteel. I was given these knives by Hultafors to distribute to my instructors and have been using mine since 2011. Have been using and sometimes abusing mine since that day and it still is my knife of choice. Keep the scandi grind but strop it to give it a secondary convex edge. I do test other knives but this old Hultafors goes with me all the time when outdoors. So I suggest you add some more real life criteria when testing a knife. Ease of cleaning and re-sharping for instance. And what is the benefit of this firesteel loop? Loose your knife and you loose your firesteel also. It makes no sense to a survivalist or bushcrafter. I still like your video's but you have to test the knifes in real life scenario's. Not in the backyard. Nothing wrong with a table top review but it is NOT real life. Skin a rabbit or hare, clean a fish, have limited access to water. Than decide what is the best knife.
Hello Mr. May I know your opinion about two knifes? I'm about to purchase two knives but I'm not sure about my choise. Should I get a Mora Robust and a Hultafors GK? Or it would better if I get two GK? I love both of them but I've heard a lot that the Robust would be better in carving wood and that kind of work. Of course I know these two are multi-purpose knives. I just want to know an opinion from someone who knows more than me about them.
@@SunShine-vr4km This is Stevan from a different account. The Mora Robust and Hultafors GK have a lot of similarities and a few differences. The Robust has a smaller secondary bevel in general and this would suggest somewhat better in carving or better said whittling and finer carving. It stays more scandi all the way. The handle is smaller but no problem unless you have very big hands. The Hultafors GK has a rather big and bulky handle and might be a problem if you have small hands. My suggestion would be get one of each. Keep the Mora Robust as scandi as possible for the finer carving and food prep. It's a somewhat weaker but very sharp edge. Replace the secondary bevel of the Hultafors GK over time by stropping and use this stronger edge for the rough work like batoning and stuff. It's what I do. Instead of the Robust I bring a thin blade stainless steel Mora for the food prep and fine work and all the batoning and heavy stuff I do with the Hultafors GK.
@@StevanOutdoor Stevan, thank you very much for taking time to answer my questions. My aunt is coming from Sweden and as I can't ger any of those in where I live (Peru), I'm looking forward to get those famous blades. I will take a look on the Mora's website again so maybe I would choose a thinner blade for finer work, is just I love the way the Robust looks haha. I'm 6'2 so I don't think the Hultafors handle would be a problem for me. And again, thank you very much for the advise!
@@SunShine-vr4km You're very welcome. One thing I forgot to mention is the sheath. They have similar plastic sheaths but the belt attachment clip on the Mora sheath is way easier to attach to a belt or strap than the one on the Hultafors. So in most cases I will wear the Mora on my belt or on the strap of my backpack or fanny pack and the Hultafors in my 'Mochila'. For a big guy like you the handles will be no problem at all. So maybe if you are very nice to your aunt she can bring you 3 including the stainless thin blade version. ;) Peru. How wonderful. After visiting Colombia for a month my focus is very much on South America now when it comes to new courses. I created a 10 day bushcraft & survival course in Argentina with a local school there (Northlatitude) that will hopefully start next year depending on covid restrictions. I also have good contacts in Colombia and Brasil. I did notice from my visit to Colombia and talks with bushcraft friends in South America that Mora, Hultafors and many other brands widely available here are not or hardly available in South America. Anyway. I did bring a Hultafors in stainless for the female friend I was visiting and next time I visit a person that's into bushcraft and survival I will bring even a few as a gift. Curious how it works out for you and if you like the knives.
Hey mates, great job on the review and I hope everyone has a good idea how great these knives are for what they are. Cheap but robust and a great secondary knife or a back up!!! Miki B, nice stash!! Martin, all an opportunity to rip your shirt off!!! LOL.. good fun mates!!!!
hey guys, just want to verify with you, I heard that the Hultafors JAP steel is SK5, and I also heard that they outsource the manufacturing in Taiwan... are all these true?
If I could get the ok 4 in the US without having to pay as much for shipping as I do for the actual knife I would get one I guess I'll stick with my mora companion heavy duty. 20 bucks and I don't have to pay shipping can't beat it
I can get companion and opinel in the stores. But I bought heavy duty and buck 110 and others from internet shops. We can buy Hultafors for ax , I don't see OK 4 yet.

Something like that
i think this might just be the best knife video ive watched lol
While cutting up bricks and metal is... interesting and does show the knives toughness maybe showing some knife stuff might be helpful too, like how long it held its edge how easy/hard it was to sharpen, what angle the edge is etc. or just saying it if you don't want to show it.
Hi guys, which of the Mora robust and Hultrafors Heavy would you choose? Thanks Michele
mora robust
You two make me chuckle thank you for the video
Good info, and always big fun. A breath of fresh air amidst all the tabletop talking hands unboxing sheit channels :-)👍
Eindelijk een goeie budget knive, leuke video en thanks zal m zeker kopen
the dbz music is so good!!!
tyfs atb hagd
I have it but never tested it enough. It defintely is a beat for the money though
This video was very entertaining and very funny. I love this channel!
Mikkie should just leave the mustache lol. You guys rock!! Take care brothers
Okay, off to the local knife shop for a Hultafors.
great video as always guys! love the DBZ references
You guys are great!! Keep it going!
I love you guys and i watch all your videos you deserve a lot more subscribers than you have, if not for great quality videos, but the sense of humor you have. good job :)
i dont know how i got here...but im glad!
You guy's brutalize knives better than any channel!!👍👍👍
Or... Um... Knives 😁
Of course, you could just but one and give a very balance and honest review, then offer to the company to do more honest reviews of they send you product gratis and without obligation.
The key thing is, if you're honest and credible, your reviews will sell their knives if the product is any good. If their knives are...Not so good... Then they shouldn't send in their product, and we'll know to stick with Mora, Hultafors and Falkniven 😋
My favorite RUclipsrs by far!!!!
Do you think you can do a budget sharpening video (no Japanese water stones)? It would help a lot
So maybe if you are very nice to your aunt she can bring you 3 including the stainless thin blade version. ;)
Peru.
+artymech46 just had to do it haha
Killer video. Thanks guys.
So whats a good medium budget knife?
+Bevy rockstead would do.
Na joke haha. I would suggest the Patriot Manly
hey guys, just want to verify with you, I heard that the Hultafors JAP steel is SK5, and I also heard that they outsource the manufacturing in Taiwan... are all these true?
Still making me laugh every time I watch your videos , great humour!
We can buy Hultafors for ax , I don't see OK 4 yet.
fuck, yesterday I bought the mora robust, I hate you hahahaha nice video guys, hugs from Madrid, Spain!!!
Javier Marcos I have an ok4 but my next knife will be a robust. you bought a good knife.
Steve Burt thank you man
+Javier Marcos the robust is still amazing and cheaper than the ok4! Don't feel bad about it haha
I bought the robust after seeing their video last year and it has been amazing!
The "God dammit" killed me. 😂😂
wish Bahco 2449 was in this competition too. I would bet on that beast.
how many times during a video do you laugh at your selves will filming? because I wouldn't be able to make a video with you two. would love to hang out with you two haha
+SC bushcraft backwoods especially mikkie take around 5 shots sometimes before he can get serious. Very... Very time consuming hahaha
Dutch Bushcraft Knives I bet. but that's ok because it's fun
Another great comparison vid from the Dutch Knife God Brothers ! Any chance you guys can do a review on the Manly Patriot ? Thanks for sharing. All the best from Scotland. Garry
+GD we will cover the patriot manly a bit more soon!
Nice vid. I bought an ok4 right away. my edc is an Mora robust
Hultafors OK4 this is not outdoor knife, is a survival knife. OK1 it's outdoor knife model, as indicated on the knife sheath.
Amazing video, thanks!
in my opinion the best bushcraft knife is the Schrade schf9 due to its size durability and versatile and price.
"Introooooooo" 😂😂😂😂👍
Wow! more skin!!! Martin you're getting Hugh! great video guys! going to have to get one of those Hiltafore?
Cory Boyd get a spell checker first lol
+Cory Boyd haha I do my best cory. We can recommend the 'hultafors' for sure!
Thanks a lot as always!
