I can’t argue with any of these choices, but every time I head out in the woods, I find myself grabbing my Skrama (which I bought based on DBK’s recommendation) with an old-ass Mora classic strapped to the sheath. Sometimes I wonder why I even spend money other knives, because they mostly just sit there looking cool and irritating my wife.
Can we get a jelio puukko vs a malanika puukko? You say they're both on par with each other but it would be interesting to see both of them go toe to toe against each other, just an idea.

White River Firecraft 5 inch model out preformed pretty much every knife I have. I have LOTS of knifes, super steels, Russian, Moras, Swamp rat, Arizona knives, cold steels, sweeden knifes. It just has the right weight and strong body.

I found for myself the Cold Steel Bushman has been my one a.p. blade taken on camping and overseas trips. For long term survival I would bet my life on it!
I've seen video of the new ones, are brittle. Broke in pieces. Preparedmind101 video. Old ones were good.

I am in Idaho, USA, and our roads are the equivalent of goat trails.
The Bark river Aurora is around $300 in the USA, they have gotten expensive.

Bravo 1 $380 in Canada I only buy from Warriors and Wonders/ Blades Canada and that's the only Bark River they have on there
6:50 I've said it before, I think. The Hultifors GK is the very best budget knife you could invest in. The problem with me is that I'll buy 4 to put away in places where a knife would be handy, such as a toolbox, glovebox, backpack, first aid kit etc. Then I end up giving them to people who haven't had a useful knife. Then I have to buy more. But hey, it's worth hearing people talk about how handy the GK is.
I do the same but with Cold Steel Knives I buy them for people depending on what I think they would need doesn't cost me a lot and I think it's funny because they say I don't need to carry a knife but after I buy them one they say I use it all the time lol

Great video. One knife you haven’t tried is the Bark River Tope Recon - 3V. I bet its overall design could surprise you!
My type for best survival will be Cold Steel Warcraft Tanto - size, and CPM 3V makes it awesome hard worker.
I've bought more knives after watching your videos than any other time ever. You always influence me to get new knives. The two I still don't have is the Bark River and the Fallkniven F1.

I have just bought a NL5. I love it, but I also have knives from TRC. I love them too. But the NL5 is so pretty as well.
4 Max Scout wins ALL categories including folder and fixed blade in all those categories .. it is what the Buck 110 was in 1964!

The extreme ratio served me very well in Florida woods. They made it bit tip-heavy, you can even use it as a small hammer. such a good knife.

I noticed when you talk about knives for survival you never mentioned the hunting factor. Its ability to pierce like a spear or defence against animal attacks. The tip has to play a pivotal role insurvival. So, as far as getting food, how does the extreme Horacio knife player role in acquiring food for survival? Also, I’d like to see future videos on using knives to acquire food for survival.

A tip for the some viewers:
COS and Elmax are nice steels, but not really as tough as 80crv2. For sure, the latter is often softer, but not as brittle. If you want a heavy user, consider this option. Do not fall for prestige.
80crv2 is damn sure some tough steel. If you plan on really cranking on it well done 80crv2 will take what you dish out.. 52100 will hold its own as well.
My best EDC blade is a Williams Blade Design SZK005 made by TRC knives,and TRC is absolute quality, and the best sheath, and hard use knife is my winkler crusher belt knife with rubber grip, or my TOOR field 2.0. I also carry my Half Face Blades combat dirt nap with a SEAX blade in MAGNACUT!

You say the Fällkniven F1 CoS is the best overall knife? So the CoS version is better than the elmax, then? How/why so? (I don't know that much about different steels) Fällkniven seem to prefer elmax, and have switched over to it. Is it worth finding a place that still has one in CoS? ...and F1 seems to have some different models. Which is best?
My € 12 Mora Pro S has opened hundreds of carboard boxes, I also used it to remove the leather from an old couch and other odd jobs, good enough 'around the house/allround' knife for me
I love the terava jaakaripuuko. For the price and the quality and abuse you can give that knife is hands down the best all rounder in my opinion.
For the best survival knife, I'd say the ka-bar becker bk2. For the best overall knife and/or budget knife, I'd say the BPS Knives BS2FT CSH.
What was that budget knife called? I want to buy it and try it against my other knives, also to add to my collection

Hey guys for the first mentions you guys forgot to mention that the falkniven A1 has a shiny reflective surface which is a advantage for survival knives since it can help you get spotted in a pinch. I'd say its slightly better for survival for that reason.

Extrema has been dominant for a while. I am surprised you guys haven’t done more of their models.
You guys need to review some of the outstanding knives made in Spain, Italy and China --yes, I said China "Eafangrow" survival, hunting & EDC knives w/ premium steel and micarta handles. Spain: Joker & Celitbro, and Italy Lion Steel. Many of these knives are under $100 USD, full leather or kydex sheaths and fire steel included with some. I have plenty of US Made handmade, custom knives, and a number of Bark River Knives. The quality coming out of Spain, Italy and China is truly outstanding.
I'm surprised that the Fallkniven Tor didn't make the list.

Awesome vid. Will you review the Jx-5 vengeful 1 from bark river in 3v. The knife looks like a beast with handle that allows for a lot of versatility with the blade use.

G'day Guys, you did cover some rippers there. The biggest bone of contention IMO is a bean handle "Puukko" as a "top" design in the world, or otherwise, for that matter.
Sure, they're designed more for lateral force, rather than stabbing/piercing, however I reckon some sort of guard or at least some contouring to avoid slipping up onto the business end is a very worthy addition ; )
You cant rely on the the back two fingers against the palm swell to stop a nasty engagement up front.
Personally, I went for a Terava 140, but even a Mora Companion gives you something in this respect.

I have the adventurer CSHF. It’s a full tang, robust, and hard to destroy. It came very sharp out of the box. I have it for soon two years and it comes with me outdoors every time. It likes catching rust, and I treat it with olive oil, also for the handle wood. It is a natural and living knife that needs a relationship with the owner. When I got it, the price was 30-something. Now, I see it’s 46. I did not make much use of the flint, as I would have my Maratac lighters do the fire starting job. The flint is definitely the weaker part of the set as the flint’s wooden handle separated at some point (easily fixed with some proper glue). The leather sheath is superb, and I would actually remove the flint - who makes fire with it nowadays if you are seriously into outdoors? My favorite knife is a Marttini puuko though - paid loads of money for it compared to the Ukrainian, but it’s so aesthetic, though I would not trust stressing it to the level I would the Ukrainian. Marttini is a beauty, but the Ukrainian is so all-around practical and priceworthy.
Please test an LT Wright Genesis and GNS! They will give that bark River a run for its money! The GNS would be a closer match to the bark River Aurora.
Best general purpose camp knife I have is my Buck 119. I have my dream knife (KaBar 1217 USMC combat knife) coming in the mail in a few days!

What’s your opinion on the S-sized Fällkniven (pro or X)?
I own a F1X, and thinking about going bigger but I think the A-series is a bit too big..
For me the s series is my least favorite. The F1 + a1 makes an awesome combination and for a one knife that does it all the a1s extra length fkr me is worth the bit extra weight. My guess is that the s1 was made to be a German legal a1

Now that you are are knife designers and producers, have you tried doing knife by yourselves? I mean, i just finished Brisa Trooper DIY kit, and realized it wasn’t that easy as they make it look in a video. Basically its only connecting handle and blade together and honing the handle as you like, but you should try it anyways. After that you torture it and make video.
I feel like they've done reviews on enzo knives that they've built as a kit, but personally I'd love to see a video of them actually building it!
I would like to see the TRC Apocalypse released with a blaze orange sure touch and textured handle , and the overall dealbreaker it is making the full convex Grind. Let’s see another DBK Edition Release!

Hi guys, even in het Nederlands, dat schrijft wat makkelijker voor me. Ik ben heel erg aan het overwegen om in één keer dé drie aan te schaffen. Deels voor gebruik, deels voor de "magie" er om heen. De F1 (Elmax), S1 (CoS) en de A1 (Black CoS) ... jullie enthousiasme heeft mij door de tijd ook een liefhebber gemaakt van het merk. Ik heb ze een aantal keren beet gehad, maar nog nooit in gebruik gehad. Ik ben gek op convex en slijp al mijn messen standaard naar convex. Maar waar ik zo "bang" voor ben is het chippen wat je overal hoort leest en ziet als het op Fallkniven aankomt. Kunnen jullie uit ervaring zeggen hoe erg het is bij normaal tot stevig gebruik? Ik begin steeds meer te twijfelen om ze aan te schaffen want ze zijn imo véél te duur om te laten chippen. Dus laat je ze liggen en gebruik je ze niet meer .... en dat is loei zonde van het geld natuurlijk.

Eigenlijk heb ik zelden problemen gehad met het chippen. Cos en vg10 is wel fragiel als het tegen harde dingen als steen aankomt. In Nederland hebben we dat niet zoveel dus wellicht dat ik die ervaring niet heb. Ik heb het ook wel eens gezien op forums etc. soms kan het ook komen doordat de uiterste snede oververhit is geweest bij de slijpbeurt in de fabriek . Een of twee keer zelf slijpen lost dat op. Hopelijk heb je hier wat aan!
@@DutchBushcraftKnivesSuper dank man:-) ... Ik ben iemand die de messen ECHT gebruikt en zit wel veel in houtverwerking (open haard etc) met alle houtsoorten die er zijn. Ook veel eik en beuk etc. Dan kom je wel regelmatig spijkers en prikkeldraad tegen etc. (ingroei in bomen op boeren terrein en zo) Welke staalsoort zou dan het beste zijn? Ik heb net jullie video zitten bekijken over de Extrema Ratio "But Ugly" Selvans 😄

So in the uk even if the police could always take your knife with just weird reasons or no reason at all but if it's a slip joint under 3 centimeters would the police still take that knife just as a locking blade ?
You guys are well, okay, in my book. But when it comes to knives, every one who is a knife guy/collector is going to have there top five. The Mora HD Companion is in my top five. As for the other four, with as many knives as I have, that will be hard to figure. P.S. I've been collecting knives since the mid 1980's. And I have LOTS of knives, sheath and folding. If I knew I was going to have to chop and batton wood. I would use my Condor Tool& Knife, Hudson Bay, or the Moon Shiner. Both of which are well made and inexpensive. We can't all afford 200+ dollar knives. I don't have a single knife that cost over 200 dollars.
