I'm 100% Combat Disabled and my wife and I just bought a PRO4896 for my rehab and side $. Glad I saw this video. We researched machines and for the money you can't beat a AvidCNC. Going back and watching some "old" videos. Wish we was neighbors!
Tablet!!!! Thank you for checking in. I've had mine for several years. Cory and the team at Avid have been so helpful to me. You really can't go wrong with their stuff. Remember, CNC is a journey. Much to learn and I learn new things all the time. Ask for help when you need it! Lemme know if I can ever help out.
Great looking machine and it's nice to see someone DOING it. I got exposed to a CNC router while working at an Avionics shop (we made instrument panels for light aircraft) and it opened my eyes. Couple it with a laser engraver and you can produce almost anything. We powder-coated the Aluminum, applied laser tape to the panel, and laser-engraved the text into the panels. When done, leave the tape on and lightly spray-paint the engraved letters for a killer instrument panel. Then use an Xacto or other blade to carefully remove the tape. Looked GREAT and won awards very year. Good luck, Feddie. I wish we were neighbors!
Super sweet Feddie, thanks for sharing, your friends here don't see it as bragging, we know where your heart is and that's what we love. Keep the spindle going!
you seem like a good guy and I enjoy watching your different projects. I especially like the projects you do on your property like the flag pole and the pole barn.
Hey Feddie! It's good to see you back in the shop, you had me wondering. Very nice cnc set-up you have there. Can't wait for your up and coming projects, with the new upgrades you have.
Thanks for sharing. The upgrades look sweet. I've loved your CNC for a long time so I'm glad to have a "tour" of it. Really beautiful machine and I hope someday I can swing one just as cool. Thanks for your continued sharing. Keep uploading.
Love your channel. Really enjoyed seeing your cnc upgrades. That new leg/platform kit really looks stout. Thumbs up from one of your subscribers here. Cheers from Ontario Canada.
Killer machine Fred!!! You've got me convinced... My next unit will be from CNC router parts. I've about paid for the one I have already and may need to get into a bigger one soon.
Congrats on all your success and hard work, you deserve it! May I ask if you ever deal with overheating? Say, how many hours a day can you run the machine before it needs a break?
I almost bought a Pro myself . Unfortunately I just found a deal on a CAMaster Stinger 2 , and may buy it . I’ve talked with Cory at cncrouterparts, and these guys are very helpful
I am considering doing this upgrade right now to my older avid machine. My question is did it come with the newer router/spindle mount ? That is totally different than what my current machine has for the Z axis. It looks much more solid. I have a quote from avid and I am almost tempted to just get a newer unit as the gantry mounts look way more solid also. Looks awesome Thank you for the video
Not trying to be contrary, I really like the cnc routerparts stuff myself. I have an older “standard” cnc router parts machine as well as the v-con “pro” machine which you upgraded from. I also have a camaster stinger which runs the same kind of rails in the new “pro” machine. To keep it short, out of all those, the old standard machine runs measurably better than the other two despite having inferior electronics etc. If I were buying another machine right now, I would go with the older “standard” linear system.
Feddie, Looks Good. I have a standard CNCRP 48x48. Nema 500oz Nema 28's Gecko Controller with a water cooled 2.2kw. I love my CNC RP machine as well. I built my machine complete for under 7k. It performs like a 20k machine. Looking forward to seeing what your doing with yours. Keep the vids coming.
As a Swede I might not get all the nitti gritty but as an honest man I really don't get why you Americans have to make excuses for doing one thing or the other! as an outsider looking in I think you're doing a grate choice on upgrading to the later CNC routerparts machine options, just be proud of it and don't care about the haters or the assholes out there, don't let them belittle you, go your own way like you do and be proud about it! =)
I put together a PRO 48x48 from CNC Router parts. I didn't buy the kit because I was piecing it together as $$$ was available. When I last talked to Cory there, they didn't indicate they would be providing upgrades because of all quantity of components that changed. Out of curiosity, did they buy back your old components or offer an upgrade discount? I've yet to see the parts for the news stuff on their site.
Just a quick update. I talked to Cory today at CNCRouterParts and he did say they are selling the upgrade parts on a request basis. They just don't have them listed on the site yet. On another note. I forgot to mention that your machine looks awesome. Love the diamond plate! I started with a Bosch router and just ordered a single having spent 2 days vacuuming the entire garage and elevating it from 5 gallons of MDF dust. The Bosch blows the stuff everywhere. My new spindle is water cooled so no more! Now I have to get to installing a new sub panel :(
Really nice machine. I notice your table top doesn't have any T-Slots or hold downs. Do you use a vacuum system. If so, could you tell us a little about it. Did you build your own table for it?
Thanks Justin. I usually screw things down or use double sided tape. Hope to add a vacuum soon. I used the leg kit from CNC Router Parts for the table.
Dude, that's crazy. I drove by there this afternoon on my way to Atlanta for the IWF trade show. Small world Holmes. Yeah man. We can do a collab. Gimme some ideas. blazingnailgun@gmail.com
Does the upgrade kit turn your CNC router into one that is identical to the current Pro version, or are there still some differences? (I just ordered the X-Y upgrade kit.)

Thanks for the great comments, Pat! I really appreciate it.
I love how easy it is to deal with the company.
My 4896 kit is coming tomorrow. Really like your upgrades.
Outstanding!
I'm not a CNC guy, but I sure like your set-up brother.
Thanks for showing us what you did.
Thanks for putting that out. Even the least expensive machine is expensive, and its good to have some feed back prior to purchasing.
Glad it helped out Patrick. Yes, it is an investment but those folks are honest and helpful. Talk to em and see where it goes!
Love your channel. Really enjoyed seeing your cnc upgrades. That new leg/platform kit really looks stout. Thumbs up from one of your subscribers here. Cheers from Ontario Canada.
Thanks Mac! I appreciate you checking it out.
what an awesome CNC!!! you definitely have a sweet shop. I'm sure all of your viewers would love to see a shop tour video some time.
Thanks for the kind words Anthony. Good to hear form you man!
Killer machine Fred!!! You've got me convinced... My next unit will be from CNC router parts. I've about paid for the one I have already and may need to get into a bigger one soon.
Thanks for checking it out, Greg. I am super excited about this "new" machine.
Really diggin that diamond plate, Feddie. Machine looks great. Looking forward to more CNC projects from you. Keep up the great work, man. Troy
Good to hear from you, Troy. Thanks for checking in!
Congrats on all your success and hard work, you deserve it!
May I ask if you ever deal with overheating? Say, how many hours a day can you run the machine before it needs a break?
Love to see and hear the spindle at work! Maybe you can compare the noise comparison between the bosch router and the spindle!
I almost bought a Pro myself . Unfortunately I just found a deal on a CAMaster Stinger 2 , and may buy it . I’ve talked with Cory at cncrouterparts, and these guys are very helpful
Nice! Like the diamond plate and the control station was a nice touch. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Mark!

Cool. I never had one of the standard machines. Glad you have had a good experience with it.
Why would you go with the standard machine? Are you talking the current standard machine? Even with using the heavy 25lb 2.2kw spindle?
Nice skirt, my machine sure could use some pretty stuff like that.
If you have a vac hold down system is it noisy?
Keep the videos coming. I like the death by details!
Thanks Jamie. Appreciate the view!

happy Sunday Feddie. did you decide to not use the gussets from the base leg kit?
I don't know if I could use it or not, but , I'd like to have one in my shop just to look at. You've got a bad azz set up there.
