Great review, I have an E84 and I'm really on the fence of whether to go newer or not, both the E84 and F48 have there pros and cons, I just wish they would have kept it RWD biased and added a tad more horsepower, it would be the perfect sports SUV IMO.

2018 X1 come with transmission update..no more aisin gear..
Unlikely, unless they also change the engine layout from transversal to longitudinal, and this platform has no space for that.
I do agree, the gearstick is horrible, it looks like an entry level car from the 80's.
There's nothing wrong with using a mechanical gear leaver, Porsche use one with there PDK and that looks great. But I think BMW could have sexed it up a bit.
I totally agree, I can't understand why they went for that gear lever instead of the traditional BMW one. Horrible. Just doesn't make any sense and it takes away from an otherwise perfect compact SUV.

I'm afraid the new 1-series will have the the same gear stick as the X1 or the 2AT because of the FWD. Actually ZF only make his 8-speed-automatic for AWD and RWD. The FWD get the 8-speed from Aisin which is not bad but not as smooth as the ZF and also without the electronic parking button. Thats why you have this oldschool shifting to change from P to N or D. But time will show...

Een Nederlands kanaal de naam zegt t al alleen zijn de reviews in het Engels wel slecht als ze dit blijven doen wordt het een unsubscribe
autoblog en autovisie doen het wel gewoon nederlands, vind dit ook erg jammer op dit kanaal
+Don///M +frankiehs niemand dwingt jullie om dit te kijken hoor.. als je alleen Nederlandse video's wilt zien, of zonder commentaar, kijk je toch alleen die :)
AutoTopNL nou het gaat niet om het commentaar vindt het alleen sterk dat een Nederlands kanaal Engelse reviews gaat doen
En vooral meer Engelse als Nederlandse
+Don///M We hebben een heel internationaal publiek, die we ook graag willen dienen. Waarom zou een Nederlands kanaal alleen maar Nederlandse video's mogen maken? Zeker op RUclips is dit een beetje achterhaald.
