      bryokyo Say Bryokyo, I'd like to know who was the returning champion for this episode and who of these 3 players(including your dad) won this main game overall and based on the bonus prizes, I believe this was from the week of March 1-5, 1993. Correct me if I'm wrong but the week of March 1-5, 1993 week of episodes was when your dad was on.

    I say no. The only way he could have cheated would be if he actually touched the wheel.
    Not only that, but the wheel is a separate part from the scoreboard. Plus, the wheel is suspended off the ground slightly on some type of pendulum, allowing it to be spun. The force of hitting his fist on the top of the scoreboard would have to be strong enough to either shake the floor or move the whole scoreboard podium to the point where it hits the wheel base (keep in mind, there's 3 other people already standing on it).
    Besides, if this was enough to cause it to flip, you would see a lot more of this from people jumping up and down. But you don't.

    • @kenbennett4556
      @kenbennett4556 6 лет назад +3

      GMA did a game show behind the scenes thing and the reporter doing the story mention how heavy the wheel was when she tried to spin it herself so based on that. I have a difficult time believing he moved the wheel by pounding on the table. I didn't think he really hit it that hard either. But I'm not willing to discount the possibility either. Somehow that very last golf shot at the end of Caddyshack comes to mind with the ball teetering on the edge of the cup.

  • @cadenbass6987
    @cadenbass6987 9 лет назад +105

    Given the circumstances, I'd say he didn't cheat. By definition, to cheat is to "act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination." He wasn't being dishonest. He wasn't being unfair, as that would have had to be intentional. If the producers wanted, they could have just said to move it back to the 550 wedge. But in the end, even if he did it intentionally, since he didn't end up solving the puzzle anyway, it didn't really affect the game.

    • @ajk

    That is a tough call. I don't think he intended to move the peg on the wheel if that's the case. He just got frustrated and it happened to move the peg over. Honestly, they shouldn't have given him the SURPRISE. But that was more of the fault of Pat and/or the judges. They should have just went with the $500, or was it $900? I'm too lazy to play back, but you know what I mean. But since he didn't solve the puzzle in that round, it's really not an issue anyway. It's convenient when errors like these don't affect the game's outcome.

      I think they switched to the computerized board in 1997, where Vanna only has to touch the screen. This allows them to do more puzzles, as they used to have to wheel the puzzle board offstage, take out the letters, put new letters in, and turn them all back to hide them. They also had to reset the board lights every time.

      the wheel is an independant movable structure from the platform where the contestants are. It would be almost impossible for vibration. the only time he touches the wheel is to initiate the spin. If he was bent over the wheel at the time someone from the audeince, other contestants or the production people would have seen it. The last thing any game show needs is a cheating scandal. Pat has nothing to do with a decision. There are people offstage that would make that decision and signal Pat. The people lin the best position to see anyone cheat would have to tell Pat to let it go. You can even hear Pat say he needs to check

    Pat & The Judges made the right & the only fair call by crediting Rob with "The Surprise Wedge". I've watched "wheel" enough during my lifetime so far to know a legitimate decision when I see one. No need to explain my reasoning. I'm both a faithful "Wheel Watcher" & a "Loyal Friend in True" of "The Price is Right". I watch "The Price is Right" every weekday morning Monday - Friday & I watch "Wheel of Fortune" every night including Saturday night reruns too.

    If you noticed the wheel isn't stable anyway, so the peg pushed it over there. Sometimes the wheel reverts backward in some cases if you noticed.

    In the 2007 reboot we had in Italy, sometimes the flipper stopped between two spaces. It was ruled that the "good" space is the one the flipper was coming from.

    Nah, that's not cheating. I mean, unless he knew that would happen if he hit the podium, but that is sooooo much of a stretch, the level of plausibility is far less than considerable.
    But the real question is if that is actually your father, or are you just trying to get attention like a weasel?

  • @ILoveOldTWC

    He was just frustrated that it missed the "Surprise" space by a fraction and expressed it by pounding the table. He can't help it that it made the wheel go on to the surprise.

    I believe he knew the force of his fist hitting the banister at 862 PSI (pounds per square inch) would shift the balance of the peg, creating a divergence field without derivation, thus causing the peg to slip into the surprise slot. So then, yes he cheated.

    I'm going to have to say No he didn't cheat. If he DID cheat he would have gotten every answer correct and would have bee solving them left and right. Judging by his facial expressions it was not his intent to move the wheel, it was simply gravitaional friction waves vibrating through the desk and through the floor.

  • @AlterraCorp

    He didnt cheat that was an act of random chance. Or cause and effect. For instance my dog farted so loud she scared herself which is the same as he hit the table and the peg moved.
