This is so thrilling! I watch it every now and then when I need a "pick me up." Imagine, she attends the taping for a day's entertainment and closes out the day a millionaire. And Drew's genuine elation for her is like the icing on the cake. I love when he gives her that great big bear hug, and earlier too, when he just keeps saying "You won a million bucks!!! You won a million bucks!!!" over and over because he knows how awesome and unbelievable it is. :-)
Imagine when she realizes she needs to literally pay the tax on the prize before she can claim it. It's in the contract they sign.

Yup. It's not common but some people use it. Perfectly acceptable English. For some reason I hear it used a lot on tv shows where people are negotiating prices. If a price is 2,000 they might say 20.

Americans absolutely break all numbers into double digits. That's why it's twenty nineteen over here, and not two thousand nineteen. 10 hundred isn't common, but it's really the exception to the colloquialism; sometimes the exception is just abandoned.
