THE CAR! That car was a major breeding ground for so much tech. AWD. Sequential Turbos. Tire pressure telemetry. Ride height control. Composite body panels... Salute!
@@Jabber-ig3iw Yea...no-body seems to care about the Fiesta.....IN THE U.K. That's gotta be why 14 people liked my comment, surely. 👌 ....on a post about Porsche......
Yeah, the car @0:42 IS a 959, it has the complete and entire body of a 959, which is not interchangeable with the 953 that ran the 84 Paris Dakar. Those are two totally different cars, so the car that Hammond introduced CANNOT possibly be both. The car Hammond introduced is EITHER the 953 Baja that won the 1984 Paris Dakar, OR the precursor to the 959, IT CANNOT BE BOTH, as stated by Hammonds opening dialogue.... We absolutely did just catch Top Gear in a lie.
Call me cynical, but we all know the reason that 953 was on display was do to an exact 911 model going on sale this year. I adore Porsche, but sometimes I do think they are a bit to clever with their marketing.
When are you guys just going to take over the TV show the reason it was good before is because they were car journalists so keep Harris and add you boys no brainer
If that car was the precursor of the 959, how, when it won in 1984 Paris Dakar race did it had a 953 rear spoiler, and right now before it runs the track it has a 953 rear spoiler, but in the video @0:42 it has the 959 rear end? The two cars have different frames and chassis's, so you can't just switch out the rear end assemblies. This means that they're showing two completely different cars. So which one is it? Is the one Hammond introduced the 953 that won the 1984 Paris Dakar race, or is it the 959 Baja that they show @0:42? can't be both ... Pretty sure we just caught Top Gear lying.
0:42 is obviously a 959, it has a 959 front, 959 side and a 959 rear. They showed a 959 right there because they are talking about the damn car right at that moment!
: It's just amazing how boring Top Gear has become. Baffling really. "How passionlessly can you report on a subject that you're an expert in/ that you really like?" - "Yes!" Really hard to watch even though I like Goodwood. Zero creativity, zero charme. Just bland. If someone would invent a drink more bland than water this guy would be its spokesperson.

Love that car. Watched as much of that amazing race as possible to see on TV in the US at that time. That had to be a "Bucket List" drive for you...
Porsche never dissapoints 🔥🔥

this show without Hammond ,Clarkson and May is like a fine wine without the grapes , yeast , sugar and age
We hittin the 80’s Porsche here ❤❤
Thank you great … especially for those of us who will never be able to afford to go to Goodwood … cheers
'Chuffing mega'. Ollie is the coolest uncool person ever. Or the other way around.
Its likely I've seen this car before. The Dakar rally passed through where I was living at the time that year!
It's invaluable
I like seeing a Porsche with big balloon tires.
❤ Toyota Corolla GR ❤
This show has never been as good as when James, clarkson and hammond were running it.

I would have loved to have seen this or any part of the event but I had a Saturday ticket :/
Amazing ❤
Tough assignment.
@AlexanderHenry-hz3td I respectfully decline your invitation.
Could we get the TUBROTWIN X1 next year?
Sure it only gets 1MPG
But come on
Should have shown a little more cars. The oldest one isn’t the only trophy car
Amazing car and interesting to see ‘hidden’ parts of the estate. Unfortunately no Chris Harris and no real nerve
Magnus calls it an OPP
Yay

Don’t think Porsche will trust people next year after the GT1 crash…
I love you❤❤❤❤❤
Goodwood = automotive nirvana.
Porsche >
@AlexanderHenry-hz3td i believe in having rights so no thanks.
PLEASE stop saying "Porsh"... It hurts my soul and every other soul that knows how to properly pronounce Porsche.
Hello i dont know
Батя кайена....
You mispronounce Porsche and pronounce Paris-Dakar correctly?
TopGear tryhards, still trying to be like the original patter...and still failing.
It's a shame that this guy loves the sound of his voice so much we couldn't hear the car. How have the mighty fallen.
Good thing you had a fire suit and helmet on for driving at 5% of that car's potential. Slow clap.
