I just bought a Dr. Robert. It’s on the way. This video helped me make my decision. I researched numerous options for this style tone and your attention to detail gives me confidence that this is what I’ve been looking for.
Hello Ritten House Gun Range! We're really happy to know this video helped you out to make the decision! Hope you like it as much as we do! Thank you!! :)
Thanks for leaving this online. I set my alarm to 3am to watch it live here in Australia but fell asleep and missed the beginning :) The Dr Robert through my Vox AC15c2 is the sound i've wanted since I started playing guitar. It's so versatile too, not just for Beatles sounds. It makes all my guitars cut through the mix and has a perfect overdrive sound. After watching your live I'll open it up and adjust the mach shau distortion
💚 Thank you Steve!!! Definetly a difficult hour for Australians to join the live! Thanks!!!!! If we're doing more lives, we will always keep them posted later, so you can sleep if you want to 💤💤
Cool video, awesome pedal too! I just wish that it would’ve been designed with at least the original amp’s distortion effect as well as with all the EQ knobs on the top for easy interaction rather than the Mach Schau boost that the UL730 doesn’t have and internal treble and bass knobs…Ultimately I’d prefer to have all the same features of the original amp just downsized into a pedal sized circuit. Thanks for keeping some of these legendary tones alive!
Hello Nicky, thanks for your words :) We decided to put the Mach Schau! function to make it more versatile. But who knows... we also like this VOX UL730 fuzz.... :)
I own a Dr Robert pedal. Have you thought of working with Kemper, Tonex or Quad Cortex to have a digital model made of the UL730? Also, I would to love to see you guys work on a Selmer Thunderbird MkII 50W pedal. Thanks!
I am interested to know why you guys didn't go for and exact emulation of the UL730s gain stage and tone stack?..I know the post boost has a jfet mu amp stage which does a nice job of emulating rectification..I'm just curious as to why the "normal" and "distortion" channels where not included also...I understand that you had to find a way to infuse both channels with the way you laid the circuit out,I think you did a great job..I just kind of wonder what it would sound like with those two channels and the inductor based tone stack...
Hi Daniel! Thank you a lot for your interest! Probably you're confusing the UL700 series with later Vox Conqueror and Defiant amps. Those had an inductor-based mid range in their tone stack unlike the UL700 and 400 series, which had completely different eq, which is exactly reproduced in our Dr. Robert. Normal and Vibrato Channels are exactly the same tone and eq-wise, so we thought it had no sense to put two exactly equal channels on such an small device. Let us know if you have further questions!
I would be curious if you could check the schematic and or what you came up with, and see if it is some of the Same Circuitry as the Vox Super Beatle all solid state thomas organ, I used to own one for about 6 years in the late 70's and it had the DR. Robert sound, in fact one channel was called MRB for mid range boost, but it had another channel with the Built in Distortion foot operated. I wonder if the preamp section was very similar. Did they say why they destroyed them?, I would guess cheaper to do that, than the costs of maybe Warranty repairs.
Hi @ksharpe10, Although being both transistorized, the Super Beatle amp was closer to the Supreme/Defiant/Conqueror amp series, having a very close eq section. The MRB was an inductor based circuit, closer to a wah wah than the eq found on the Vox UL series. The distortion circuit was in fact a variation of a Vox Distortion Booster, the circuit that some say the Fuzz Face was based in and the distortion found on the Supreme/Conqueror etc was in fact closer to the UL series using germanium transistors shunt to ground instead of diodes. Thanks for your comment!
@@aclamguitars Thanks for your answer, I am more or less uneducated/nieve when it comes to electronics parts. I am pretty good with Sounds though, I think I know 2 items to do to emulate the UL 730 sound though. I won't devulge them here because they might hurt the sales of your Item which is a Great pedal, but it is quite expensive, but that is my opinion. I do own a Marshall made 1993 Vox Korg amp. AC30 are pretty close to getting that tonality, at least the original design amp, which the early Korg were based on. Thanks again.
Hey there! We hope you enjoy your Dr.Robert! 🤗And also.. we made an announcement for an upcoming pedal on our Social Media! We will launch at the end of June check it out at @aclamguitars
Hello from Canada fellows! Great video! Marcel tell us about your Casino …. where was it made? Mods? Been thinking about this pedal but will definitely snag one now! Although not really competition would you give us your thoughts on the White Pedal? Thanx!
Hello Rilko, Greetings from Barcelona. Marcel here. My Epiphone was made in Peerless factory in Korea in 1997. I changed the original pickups for a pair of Lollar P90s and also changed the original tuners to Grover. Is a great guitar, probably better than the ones made in China. I haven't had the chance to try the White Pedal yet, but I've seen some demos and it sounds really cool to me, I'd love to have one . Thank you!

This pedal sounds fantastic. Ordered.!
Thank you! We really hope you enjoy it, let us know your thoughts when you try it out! 🔥
Klaus did add some authenticity to the sounds of this pedal . ♥️
We couldn't agree more! Thanks for recognizing his contribution!

Oh how I'd love an original of the amp but I guess I can settle for Dr. Robert! And I never expected to hear Joy Division here! 😍
Amazing pedal ... endless possibilities!
Absolutely!! ☺️☺️ Thanks Martin!!

I await my Dr. Robert - very excited for it! Also, ohhh, what is this next pedal? Did you announce it in October 21?

Great video thanks for all this infos guys
Fantastic sounding pedal. Also the best looking/coolest pedal ever. Thank you and thank you Klaus.
Thanks for your kind words @tokingreens

Brett lead me here….
The distortion/fuzz effect on the 730 sounds like the lead guitar on Hello Goodbye.
Love the pedal!✌️❤️
Thanks!!! We love that you love it! 💚💚
Excellent!
Thank you mk win! :)
What are the transistors in the original amp? Germanium?
Hi @garygallagher7341! All Vox UL amps used silicon transistors 🙂
Thank you, guys! Were they the same as those used in fuzzes at the time, like BC109s for example? It's such a curious circuit!
@@garygallagher7341 Yes! They had BC107’s and BC109’s
Thank you!! I've played your pedal and it's awesome, btw!
Thank you!! :) @@garygallagher7341
Anyway, the Beatles on Revolver had two Vox UL7120 with four KT66 tubes, not UL730.
SPOILER ALERT ..,fast forward at least 20 mins before Dr Robert speaks at all
At least 20 mins before a guitar is even played through Dr Robert
