Man, when this album came out, my roommate and I listened to it on repeat. And we were a couple of modern rock listenin' white boys!
It was the perfect time for 50. Not only did he fill the gap of gangsta rap when most rappers were doing "bling" rap at the time, but he also got Eminems fanbase. You could debatably say 50 was bigger than Em for a period. I was 16 in a small midwestern school and our english teacher was playing this album during work time. lol It was literally everywhere.
Funniest thing is he made a song before he was popular where he was like no body likes me. The song said he wasn't cool with jayz or Nas. But on another note, watch Ice Cube No vaseline.
That song was a diss to Ja Rule.
He had more than one song before he became mainstream. He literally changed the mixed tape game. People started taking notice when he went after all the big name rappers on his song How to Rob. 50 Cent a whole living Legend! I love his transition to TV and movies.
