When spending 299-499, you want to make sure you are buying the very best.
In the market of Recovery Traction Boards, the Maxtrax have been at the top of conversation with their Nylon6 material. They meet the challenge in almost every situation..
However, there is a new USA built board (not china like other boards, incl Maxtrax) that are built in the heartland of the US and using the very best in Modern Materials. You definitely get the biggest bang for your buck with the USActionTrax.
They are built using Duponts Proprietary blend of materials that makes the boards 5x stronger than the next best board and tested to handle 55k lbs. Yes, thats Fifty-Five Thousand pounds.
The material is used to also make train coupling bushings.
Getting Recovery boards should be a once in a lifetime purchase, to last you from vehicle to vehicle.
USActionTrax has the longest and best warranty in the industry.
Recovery boards are 8lbs each typically, 16lbs for a set.... Nylon6 costs $2.5 per lb and the Dupont material is $6 per pound. Not all recovery boards are created equal!
get yourself a set of USActionTrax, for any other boards, you might as well just use your old Ktel Skis.
If you are interested I have sets on hand with and without metal teeth. 3 selections of metal teeth.. Zinc, Stainless steel and Yellow Zinc Grade 8.

You can't bend the Maxtraxx with your foot but I just watched a couple of Australian guys stick them in a hole in the sand and drive what looked to be about a 3 ton truck forwards and backwards 7 or 8 times and bend them 90% degrees without even cracking them. I'm not sure the foot test is the best way of testing a board that needs to be able to support thousands of pounds of pressure. I find demonstrations a lot more compelling than a sales pitch with an appeal to patriotism. Show us a demonstration where the Maxtraxx fail and the ActionTrax don't instead of giving us theory and telling us how good the DuPont material is.

    • @CruisingTheLand

Well, if your rug weighs over 7000 pounds loaded up, your warranty 2 yr is VOID with Maxtrax. ActionTrax has a 5 year warranty and weight is unlimited.
Maxtrax has its purpose, like a crossing over a small run, but ActionTrax has many more advantages. A true overlander that finds all types of terrain, may want to have both.. Leave the Maxtrax in the Truck with a warm blanket if you are at -20° .

Those are a blatant rip off of the Maxtrax design, that's shameful.
Maxtrax are a great product, I bought some and paid a 50% premium to support Australian manufacturing.

    • @CruisingTheLand
      @CruisingTheLand  2 года назад +2

It is very close in design, just inprovements, like the saw tooth ends, pre formed indents on the back so customers can go to any hardware store to replace burnt down nibs. I think Maxtrax forces you to buy their replacements, which is about 3x more than off the shelf hardware.
The boards are preformed on the back with indents for the washers.
The design is similar, just evolution of improvements.
And there are already a plethora of aftermarket mounts, so the Action Trax has similar pin holes to be able to use any mounts.

A demonstration would be a much more convincing sales pitch than 12 minutes bull about railway couplings and bending underfoot. To be honest a bendy traction board seems a little pointless, tyres are already bendy when deflated, a rigid board is needed for bridging and getting unstuck. Better to give a little extra coin and get a proven product I reckon, Maxtrax would be my choice every time, especially after watching Ronny Dahl's excellent review of several different boards....

A smart overlander would have a set of ActionTrax and Maxtrax. They both have their separate strengths. Maxtrax will break in cold Temps, but makes for good bridging, butnis a Teeter Totter if on a round Boulder. Action Trax perform great in sub zero, won't break and great on the rocks, but not for bridging and they are not hard plastic.
