Agreed. Some schools are better than others of course, but a home school coalition is better. It's fine to do public school elementary to get your socialization, but you don't want the socialization they get in high school. Speaking from experience of middle/high school science teacher, baseball, softball, basketball, football coach and finishing out as a professional school counselor. But, some people are just extraordinary, so thank you Bethany for being an extraordinary human and parent - and your husband too.
People are too lazy to homeschool their kids and will use any and all excuses to avoid it - it’s like giving away junk food for free but charging money for anything healthy. 99% of people will take the free junk food and free babysitter/indoctrination camps
I’ve been saying that since I quit high school in 2001. I saw all of this coming at 18 years old. No one started believing me until late twenty teens. By then the infestation had long since been complete.
This is all the schools are currently, and perhaps has always been this sort of babysitting and indoctrination centers so that the student become good workers for the Federal Government when they "graduate" and it provides daycare for the parent(s) so they can work and provide taxes for the the system to use the taxes to spend on those who don't pay taxes and useless government waste.
Women’s Lib was the biggest joke ever played on women. Before, a family could live comfortably on one paycheck and the wife could be a relaxed full time mother. Now most mothers have to work just to make ends meet,and mostly not in a glamorous career job. And the government loves it because they have two people to tax and they get to instill their values in your children.
Bethany was our daughter Natalie's best friend when we lived on Kauai. When they were both five, I remember them on the soccer field holding hands and looking at clouds as the ball whizzed by them. What a blessing!
What an awesome life they had growing up there. Her incident must have shook the entire island, and hopefully eventually for the better with her incredible rise afterwards.

She's 100% correct, homeschool your kids (use a home school program), keep the filth out of your home, teach your children your faith. My grandchildren are now applying to colleges and I'm amazed at the top schools that are accepting them and giving them scholarships. I thought homeschooling would be a negative but they are actually the preferred students. ❤
My daughter (past public school teacher) just had a new baby while in the middle of the homeschool year. ) Her two girls were 6 & 9 and have just adored having a new baby sister. School of course was put a little on the back burner but I helped as much as possible. Now the baby just turned 6 months old and the girls are catching up in the summer. It has been such a wonderful experience for all of us.
I understand the tendency to want to homeschool your kids in order to preserve your children's innocence, but why not put them in a private religious school if you can afford to do so? So many states now offer school voucher programs, or you can work at the school. I think kids thrive better when they get to be in a loving private school where the teachers live out their faith. So many moms struggle to balance the responsibility of running a household, a business, and other young children that adding on the responsibility and stress of homeschool may not work for everyone.
They did try Catholic School in fact my husband substitute teaches there both children were bullied they went in in the middle of the year and that can be a problem and they were not accepted
I am a successful college graduate with a good job in the financial industry, homeschooled k-12, homeschool is the future if you want to turn this country around from the precipice it’s currently plunging towards.

Amen. I'm not surprised how she became as a woman, mother and wife. She was a strong Christian when she was young and had amazing parents that gave her mostly a Christian lifestyle and relationship with Jesus Christ, which is very unusual today. It definitely is hope for her generation. There are people out there like her in this generation. We just don't hear from them and they are the Christian families.

I agree, it's so sad because now. When kids get off the school bus, they all have their heads down into their phones. They're not paying attention. Send him to even walk out of the street because they're literally not paying attention. You don't see boys throwing footballs to each other. You don't see kids playing hop. Scotch or jump rope or just sitting on steps talking to each other like what I was a kid and that really wasn't that long ago. It was the 1980s when I was a kid. And even when I graduated high school which was 1990, which I'm sure that sounds old but we didn't have that junk and our lives were so different and I think kids really lived more...
Where are you from? I don't really see that they are usually talking and laughing. I work as a crossguard. I think it's a stereotype people like to believe. If I see them on their phones waiting for the bus they are usually showing each other videos. It's better than homeschooling socialization that's for sure. It's important that they socialize with kids from different backgrounds it helps them more than you think just be around each other

Its a proven fact that kids from a homeschool environment are smarter and well rounded. Kids coming out of the public school system cannot tell the time, read or even write anymore. Our education as a whole is third world level. Look at the data, It's very very bad.
I love hearing this! I am a homeschooling mama to 2 amazing kiddos. My husband and I have been quietly talking about how little time education requires when it’s done right… I mean, we are all teaching our kids all the time anyways but focused school/learning/book time is far less than I ever imagined. Homeschooling has been amazing!
I am in Ontario Canada and no testing is required. We use provincial curriculum so I can be sure that we are achieving and learning at the same pace. I still have the freedom to customize what and how we teach. And I can control what order we teach in and how much importance each subject gets. Also… we school all year so we can go at a nice pace, take breaks, enjoy life and we don’t fall behind. Lots of extra long weekends around holidays etc.
I’m absolutely going to be homeschooling my kids. I have a 2 year old and one on the way. I’m even thinking of opening a small homeschool program because many of my friends just cannot afford to stay home or are a single parent household. I don’t want money for this, I want to help keep these kids safe. Literally evil goings on in public schools. This concept of consuming vs. creating is extremely important right now. Consumerism is what they want all of us to drown in. Consuming physical objects (Amazon addiction), consuming content (RUclips, TikTok, Netflix etc). As opposed to creating - making your own whatever it may be. This is really something we all should be mindful of.
About 10 years ago, my little sister was invited through Make a Wish to Bethany's surf camp that she hosts. We went as a family and there were multiple other families there. Seeing how she was with the kids was truly inspiring. And seeing her ride the waves in person is a whole other level of inspiration. She is an amazing human being.
She’s an amazing and beautiful human being. My in-laws went to the same church as Bethany and her family in Kilauea, Kauai (as we did when visiting) and thought they were truly wonderful and inspirational people. So happy for her.

I moved to Kauai in 2005 and Surfed Kaleihewai enough to watch her go from surfer to Wow ! When I left in 2015 ? There was no rope and all the youngsters called her auntie Bethany ! As I knew her very dedicated to the Calvary church. Is this woman will always impress me.❤💯💫

In Baldwin County, Alabama, our public schools stand for the flag salute everyday, and will not put up with any of the woke virus. We have a grip on it, and God willing, won’t let go.

I’ve been homeschooling my 8 children for over 20 years. 5 of mine have graduated, 2 are in high school and my youngest is in the 5th grade. While school in the much younger years can be done in a few hours, as your children get older, homeschooling takes a lot longer than 2 hours a day. It really depends on what your state requirements are and what you want to teach your kids. I never wanted my homeschooling to ever prevent my kids from fulfilling their dreams, so they worked really hard in high school. My kids are really close friends. It was really hard, but I’m so glad I got to spend so much time with my kids.
I was visiting Kauai. I paddled out by the lighthouse and Tunnels (surf spot). Someone in the lineup told me that Bethany was attacked there. I paddled straight in! She's definitely a bad ass!
Same, on my 16th birthday trip. It was right when the movie about her came out. Trip of a lifetime so I was gonna go out no matter what and try not to be a wuss lol I got cut up pretty good on the ‘tunnels’ and really stressed about the sharks smelling the blood haha

I don’t advise that. Use a quality program like Classical Conversions or Memoria Press curriculum! The public indoctrination program is the PROBLEM. Not just the school itself but the dumbed down curriculum. You’re better off with a real curriculum and lots of outdoor time, work experience, animal husbandry.

Solid woman. Our 22 year old was born the day she lost her arm. It was one of the news stories I saw on the hospital tv while we were waiting for his birth. Her “intentional parenting” approach to life is crucial. We are creators and have a need to be making our life what we desire it to be. This only happens when we take control and don’t allow ourselves to be controlled. Keep doing what you do Bethany!
Get our children off social media and out of public schools. This young woman is an inspiration to do things how they should be. She and her husband seem to understand their role to lead their family together. Jeez, I wish I had parents like that when I grew up.
“When consuming we are not creating”….. that is powerful quote by Bethany. Extrapolating that out to American society may explain why this country outsources everything because we only desire to consume. However, the quote above is more powerful if we apply it on a personal basis.

Work on hip opening and eat really clean and healthy to prep for pregnancy and during. Breastfeeding, be home stay relaxed. Raise a happy family. You can do it!! 🙏🏻🇺🇸✝️

Years ago my wife and kids went to Huntington Beach for a day. Kids were playing in the sand and I took a long walk down the beach during a surfing competition. Happened to cross paths with Bethany as she was coming out of the water with her board right under the Huntington Pier. Somewhat star struck in that moment, I said “Hi”. She smiled and said “Hi” back. Such a beautiful and inspiring person.. God bless her and her family!
What a thoughtful conversation about life. As an educator, I have seen both public and homeschooled children drowning in their educational environments and falling behind. I think the difference between failure and successful and thriving children is the support and encouragement from their parents.
Tucker's reaction to homeschooling is the best. I was homeschooled in the 90's and I got one of two reactions; 1. "Do you wear PJ's all day?" 2. Blank stare.... "Ohhhhhh....." then the conversation moved to something else. Homeschooling is hard, but it's so incredibly worth it. I have 3 school-aged kids now and we probably spend anywhere from 1 to 4 hours every day and we do school 4-5 days a week. My time investment probably won't change a lot, because my kids will become more self-sufficient as they get older (mine are fairly young in 5th, 3rd, and kindergarten). The cost is also very good compared to regular school; my state spends about $16,000 per student k-12 and the most I've spent is about $600 for 3 students last year. That's $200 per student. There's so much to love about homeschooling; please consider it if you would love to be the primary person imparting values to your children.

This is beautiful. I bought Bethany's book for my daughter because she was a model of courage and resilience after her shark attack. I didn't know she had become the woman she is. Still a model for women. Gives me hope for her generation.

Amen. I'm not surprised how she became as a woman, mother and wife. She was a strong Christian when she was young and had amazing parents that gave her mostly a Christian lifestyle and relationship with Jesus Christ, which is very unusual today. It definitely is hope for her generation. There are people out there like her in this generation. We just don't hear from them and they are the Christian families.

I agree, it's so sad because now. When kids get off the school bus, they all have their heads down into their phones. They're not paying attention. Send him to even walk out of the street because they're literally not paying attention. You don't see boys throwing footballs to each other. You don't see kids playing hop. Scotch or jump rope or just sitting on steps talking to each other like what I was a kid and that really wasn't that long ago. It was the 1980s when I was a kid. And even when I graduated high school which was 1990, which I'm sure that sounds old but we didn't have that junk and our lives were so different and I think kids really lived more...

Where are you from? I don't really see that they are usually talking and laughing. I work as a crossguard. I think it's a stereotype people like to believe. If I see them on their phones waiting for the bus they are usually showing each other videos. It's better than homeschooling socialization that's for sure. It's important that they socialize with kids from different backgrounds it helps them more than you think just be around each other

Its a proven fact that kids from a homeschool environment are smarter and well rounded. Kids coming out of the public school system cannot tell the time, read or even write anymore. Our education as a whole is third world level. Look at the data, It's very very bad.

I love hearing this! I am a homeschooling mama to 2 amazing kiddos. My husband and I have been quietly talking about how little time education requires when it’s done right… I mean, we are all teaching our kids all the time anyways but focused school/learning/book time is far less than I ever imagined. Homeschooling has been amazing!

I am in Ontario Canada and no testing is required. We use provincial curriculum so I can be sure that we are achieving and learning at the same pace. I still have the freedom to customize what and how we teach. And I can control what order we teach in and how much importance each subject gets. Also… we school all year so we can go at a nice pace, take breaks, enjoy life and we don’t fall behind. Lots of extra long weekends around holidays etc.

I’m even thinking of opening a small homeschool program because many of my friends just cannot afford to stay home or are a single parent household. I don’t want money for this, I want to help keep these kids safe. Literally evil goings on in public schools. This concept of consuming vs. creating is extremely important right now. Consumerism is what they want all of us to drown in. Consuming physical objects (Amazon addiction), consuming content (RUclips, TikTok, Netflix etc). As opposed to creating - making your own whatever it may be. This is really something we all should be mindful of.
About 10 years ago, my little sister was invited through Make a Wish to Bethany's surf camp that she hosts. We went as a family and there were multiple other families there.
Seeing how she was with the kids was truly inspiring. And seeing her ride the waves in person is a whole other level of inspiration. She is an amazing human being.
She is the type of human we need to lead our nation.

I moved to Kauai in 2005 and Surfed Kaleihewai enough to watch her go from surfer to Wow ! When I left in 2015 ? There was no rope and all the youngsters called her auntie Bethany ! As I knew her very dedicated to the Calvary church. Is this woman will always impress me.❤💯💫

In Baldwin County, Alabama, our public schools stand for the flag salute everyday, and will not put up with any of the woke virus. We have a grip on it, and God willing, won’t let go.

If your town is being poop about the FOIA , go to your ally sheriff. They will help.

I’ve been homeschooling my 8 children for over 20 years. 5 of mine have graduated, 2 are in high school and my youngest is in the 5th grade. While school in the much younger years can be done in a few hours, as your children get older, homeschooling takes a lot longer than 2 hours a day. It really depends on what your state requirements are and what you want to teach your kids. I never wanted my homeschooling to ever prevent my kids from fulfilling their dreams, so they worked really hard in high school. My kids are really close friends. It was really hard, but I’m so glad I got to spend so much time with my kids.
I was visiting Kauai. I paddled out by the lighthouse and Tunnels (surf spot). Someone in the lineup told me that Bethany was attacked there. I paddled straight in! She's definitely a bad ass!

I got cut up pretty good on the ‘tunnels’ and really stressed about the sharks smelling the blood haha

I don’t advise that. Use a quality program like Classical Conversions or Memoria Press curriculum! The public indoctrination program is the PROBLEM. Not just the school itself but the dumbed down curriculum. You’re better off with a real curriculum and lots of outdoor time, work experience, animal husbandry.

Solid woman. Our 22 year old was born the day she lost her arm. It was one of the news stories I saw on the hospital tv while we were waiting for his birth.
Her “intentional parenting” approach to life is crucial. We are creators and have a need to be making our life what we desire it to be. This only happens when we take control and don’t allow ourselves to be controlled.

Years ago my wife and kids went to Huntington Beach for a day. Kids were playing in the sand and I took a long walk down the beach during a surfing competition. Happened to cross paths with Bethany as she was coming out of the water with her board right under the Huntington Pier. Somewhat star struck in that moment, I said “Hi”. She smiled and said “Hi” back. Such a beautiful and inspiring person.. God bless her and her family!

What a thoughtful conversation about life. As an educator, I have seen both public and homeschooled children drowning in their educational environments and falling behind. I think the difference between failure and successful and thriving children is the support and encouragement from their parents.

Homeschool is not that hard, or that expensive. Look into the Robinson Curriculum. Kids are not dumb, they can teach themselves! Don't complicate it!

Tucker's reaction to homeschooling is the best. I was homeschooled in the 90's and I got one of two reactions; 1. "Do you wear PJ's all day?" 2. Blank stare.... "Ohhhhhh....." then the conversation moved to something else. Homeschooling is hard, but it's so incredibly worth it. I have 3 school-aged kids now and we probably spend anywhere from 1 to 4 hours every day and we do school 4-5 days a week. My time investment probably won't change a lot, because my kids will become more self-sufficient as they get older (mine are fairly young in 5th, 3rd, and kindergarten). The cost is also very good compared to regular school; my state spends about $16,000 per student k-12 and the most I've spent is about $600 for 3 students last year. That's $200 per student. There's so much to love about homeschooling; please consider it if you would love to be the primary person imparting values to your children.
