  • Back To The Future Reaction is today's video! Hey everyone! Join me as I start the Back To The Future Trilogy today with the Original!
    In this 1980s sci-fi classic, small-town California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is thrown back into the '50s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), and must make sure that they fall in love or he'll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown.

    Christopher Lloyd's performance as Doc encapsulates my childhood. Literally, you look at him outside the role, and you see he embodies the "mad scientist" look. And don't even get me started on his comedic chemistry with Michael J. Fox.

      That's one joke that's lost in today's audience as Tab was Coca Cola's first diet drink. And of course a tab is also something you can have at a bar to pay for your drinks later. To continue the joke, he asks for a "Pepsi Free" which was another brand of diet soda in 1985. But asking someone in 1955 for a Tab or a Pepsi Free would certainly be confusing.

    • @mxplixic
      @mxplixic Год назад +3

    The saying Biff messes up is supposed to be, "Make like a tree, and LEAVE".
    Fun fact: that part of the scene was cut, but Doc's "permit" for the special equipment which he hands the cop on the night of the dance... was a $50 bribe.
    Other Fun or maybe Not-so-fun fact: At the time of production, Michael J Fox was booked doing the tv show, 'Family Ties'. He was their first choice, but because he was unavailable they tried going with another actor. When that didn't work out, Michael J Fox ended up filming both the tv show (in the daytime) and the movie (nights), _at the same time._ He was running on 2-5 hours of sleep per day for the duration of filming, just to be in this. (I don't know if Marty's odd sleeping position might have been so that Michael J wouldn't _actually_ fall asleep...?)
    Umm... I don't especially like *any* version of Biff, but I'll take the new version over the original.
    Director Zemeckis has said, if he HAD been thinking about a sequel, he would not have had Jennifer go along in the car with them at the end: it complicated things in the second film figuring out what to do with her character!

    And while it's never explained in the series: Bob Zemeckis confirmed that Marty met his friend Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown when he was around 14 after hearing that Brown was a dangerous lunatic. Marty wanted to go and see what it was all about for himself. He snuck into Doc's lab and was fascinated by all his inventions. The Movie is also pretty good at avoiding time travel paradoxes, and so is the third. The second not so much but it's just fun. The question i have though is why marty's parents don't recognise marty in the future and why Marty's life stays the same despite everyone else's changing.

    • @michaellatta7699
      @michaellatta7699 Год назад +1

      Remember that marty was only there for a week 30 years ago. The memory of his face would have been lost with time. And marty is from the original timeline so he himself wouldnt change. We didn't get a chance to see if people wondered why he acting a little strange.

    Big thing goes unnoticed in this movie:
    George was bullied because he was left handed. Something that was still considered an abomination in the 1950s.
    He punched Biff with his left hand.

    • @rs-ye7kw
      @rs-ye7kw Год назад +2

      Disagree. I went through elementary, junior high, and part of high school in the 50's and there were plenty of left-handers in the classes and no one bullied them or treated them any differently than anyone else. As a matter of fact, many of the best athletes in school were lefties.

      @@rs-ye7kw I know many many pepole who where forced to use their right hand in school and where physically punished(beat) if they dared to write lefthanded in school back in those times. Obviously this didn't happen everywhere as is evidenced by your school, but just because it didn't happen where you where does not in anyway mean it wasn't happening to others in other places.

    • @rs-ye7kw
      @rs-ye7kw Год назад +1

      @@tj_2701 I know that those kinds of things did happen but I believe it was more prevalent in the decades before the fifties, especially in the public schools. I have heard horror stories from people who attended Parochial schools in the 50's and even into the 60's that the punishments you described were often administered by their instructors, who were often Nuns. I'm sure those stories are true, but i still doubt that those things occurred frequently in many places during and after the 50's in most public schools. (one caveat: no personal experience, but I wouldn't doubt that things may have still been that was in the 50's in the deep South).

    One of the all-time great film trilogies. It's because of these movies that the DeLorean DMC-12 (the very car used as the time machine in all three movies) became iconic. So much so, the man behind that car, famed automotive (and former GM) engineer John Z. DeLorean thanked the producers for making his creation a legend. LOL
