You cant go wrong with a Gretsch. They are so beautifully musical. Everytime I use mine in our praise and worship at church I get a big smile from the music minister. Front if house says they do nothing with it but just keep it as it is out of the amp. Thanks. Great again as always.
Just picked up a mint one this morning in a trade! 15-minutes playing and I am in love! So versatile...acoustic, jazz, blues then turn the dial on a modeling combo amp and I'm Malcom Young...she's a keeper!!! 😎
I have not played for over 40 years as I damaged my hand . I used to have a Tennessee,. Now I have just bought a G5420TG 2018 model. It is the most awesome guitar and it has now gt me playing again. Your playing is an inspiration. I am now subscribed and I hope to see more of your videos.
🔵 got myself a beautiful used G5120T in black one month ago - loved it so much , became an instant Gretsch fan after ignoring them the past forty years whilst strictly playing acoustic guitar ; two weeks after the G5120T , got myself a brand new G5622T in walnut stain w/Super Hilo'trons that suit my lighter finger play style really well❕😏
I bought my first gretsch streamliner left from Amazon o I love it what a great sound action I have nine guitars all made left handed my gretsch streamliner is my favorite
Gretsch makes incredible guitars. Besides the sound, the craftsmanship for the price is unmatched by anything else, if you see their instruments as something you can play, for as good as they are under $1000 is a steal. As far as a piece of art goes, it's definitely underpriced for as good looking as they are. Having an amazing guitar that plays great and looks great, $1000 is a perfect deal
I just picked up the G5622T to add to my two other Gretschs. You're right about the necks being easy to play on. I like them better than the ones on my Zemaitis guitars, Gretschs are fabulous guitars
Hello Clint other time. In this guitar is dificult change the strings?. The rosewood under the bridge is move or not when you change strings???. Thanks and sorry for too many questions but i don't know to do. I am doubting to buy this model or 5622. I think 5422tg is better, but ....
Great demo man! Thanks for showing how it sounds with distortion and modulation. I checked so many demos and was getting sick that people play only finger picking, country and etc until seeing your demo. It seems the filtertron pickups are great with gainy type sounds. That was my only concern. Thanks so much man
Clint, (in response to your kind reply) with 10s I think they are about as low as you want to go without Bigsby problems. They feel just about "right" for bending and chording. Just make sure your nut is clean of any factory debris and lubed properly. The nice tech, Chris, at my St.Louis GC put Ernie Balls on mine but YMMV. Stretch them out well and give the Bigsby several days to get "used to" a new string set. I read on the TUBE to dive the Bigsby for each string, re-tune, check tune "rinse and repeat" until in tune, move on (from tiny E to big E). Your phrasing with the blues is superb. You are truly "singing" with your fingers - shredding is highly over rated. You make Joe Bonamossa look he is "trying too hard" sometimes. Check out the RUclips "Never Again" by The Coal Men (I just randomly found it) for some great Gretsch filtertron rhythm "chaaaang" (albeit on a Country Gentleman). Thanks again for your talent and time.
Hello, how are you, what kind of string gauge do you use for this guitar, Gretsch 5422T, I use 11 gauge but I must have high strings and it feels uncomfortable, what gauge do you recommend for this guitar, greetings
First of all glad I discovered your channel. You easily rival the wonderful DaveSimpson (UK) "above the 12th fret stuff"! Just got a 5422T in the "Walnut" color. Had it set up by a pro with 10s. The nut on these is GraphTech "NU BONE", not plastic. The single roller Bigsby keeps the break angle to the bridge in the right gentle angle. . I play mine through a USA Ampeg Reverberocket 50 watt 2 X 12 (re-issue). Clean channel + nice RIC like chime. Drive channel = the nice "howl" you can only get from a slim hollow body. Also standing with a strap the Gretsch is wonderfully balanced and comfortable. Your Tele licks on the bridge pick up are "the tone". Thanks for sharing.
Awesome, and thanks for subscribing! I love this guitar (My first Grestch). How is it with 10's? I still have the factory strings (11's), which are too thick for me normally. I'm about to upload another Grestch video, check my channel in a few minutes. These things rock! Appreciate the comments!
Peter W. Crawford As far as I know, the TG has gold hardware. Plus, you know, the aesthetics are nicer, in my opinion. I chose this one because I got a good deal on it, but the differences in sound might be indistinguishable, I couldn’t tell you honestly.
@@danielcastrodelamata8873 thanks Dan, I'm in Asia and shop has these in Bangkok a whole range of G's in fact. Also have the new Supro guitars similar price, and there's one Danelectro Hodad going (about half the price second hand). Trying to get some advice, I play acoustic mainly but love dirty, swamp blues sounds (Jack White, early PJ Harvey etc). Enjoy your guitar and thanks again.
THATS A BEAUTIFUL LOOKING, AND SOUNDING GUITAR CLINT BUT I HAVE COME TO UNDERSTAND THAT WHATEVER GUITAR YOU PLAY THERE IS NOBODY THAT WILL PLAY IT BETTER THAN YOU.IN MY OPIN.
Did you had the chance to try it at high volumes with gain? I really like this one more than the 5622 and the only thing keeping me from ordering is feedback. Is it too much? Can you manage it. Thanks so much for the video , i have an ac15 and sound should be close enough!!
I looked at both when I was going to buy it. I think both are fantastic. I went with the 5422 because I wanted a hollow body, wheras the 5622 has a slimmer body with a center block (Semi Hollow). I already had another semi hollow guitar so I opted for the 5422. I couldn't be more happier with it, it's just superb.

I am struggling to decide between the 5422 that you have, or the center block 5655T or the full hollow body tri five T5410T. Which would you think is the most diverse in music that can be played? Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Beatles Pink Floyd and rock and blues with some jazz influences but nothing really very heavy kind of bored of that

You have probably decided by now, but I find the main difference between hollow body and centre-block is sustain. I have the G5422TDC for that lovely hollow body control and semi-accoustic sound. It is especially great for anything with a hint of country or rock-n-roll. However, when I need more sustain or am playing jazz where I don’t want a bigsby, I play an Epiphone Sheraton ii pro. Every guitarist should own a Gretsch at least once in their life for the same reason they need to own a convertable - they are so much fun. Get it for yourself, even if it doesn’t suit your band. You can see how much Clint loves his.
That's awesome! It came with 11's which I liked, but I changed them out to a set of 10's. I use D"Addario 10-46. I had to add a bit of chapstick to the nut slots though becuase there were some tuning issues. It was more stable with 11's. but it's rock solid now as well with the chapstick. Happy playing!

Hi there, I was thinking of buying a Gretsch, but I still don't know which one (solid, center, or hollow?)... And there's Epiphone as well and Guild that are not bad...any suggestions?
When it comes to Gretsch, from my experience the build quality & playability has been excellent. I originally ordered a hollow body (G5420T), but it came in damaged. Sort of glad it did because I really like the one I have. It's still a hollow body, not quite as thick, with double cutaway, and plays and sounds incredible. In my experience, I'd go for the gretsch.
@@ClintCurtis amazing. Thank you so much. My ultimate goal would be to play blues, because I simply enjoy it too much. In particular I really like SRV, but a Fender Stratocaster is way too expensive for me now. Any good ones to start playing blues? (Blues/ and Texas Blues)
@@ClintCurtis I was thinking of getting either a G5425 or a G5220...what's your thoughts on these two? Would they be good to play some Texas Country? (Srv's style, hopefully, lol). Thank you in advance, have a wonderful and Blessed weekend. Andrew

Just Got my new streamliner in Georgia green with the cat eye cut outs and love it! Plays, sounds, and looks great!

Was thinking the same thing. I would love a Country Gent but can definitely not afford it, this seems like a great alternative.

Thanks for running through all the different tones... really gives an idea of the versatility of the guitar. It definitely ain't just for country!
That TS with the AC sounds like rocknroll! I want one so bad. Think I am gonna pull the trigger.
Those clean tones are incredible, just ordered one with a fender supersonic, hopefully they hold up just as well.
I bought a 2019 Gretsch G5422TG ... walnut color .. what a sound and what a fun guitar to play ... love it!!!
I was deciding on wether or not to buy the center block 5622t or this and I think you sold me. The fully hollow body sounds amazing.
I’m having the same problem. Prefer the single roller Bigsby but part of it is also just that the black 5422 looks so cool.

It keeps the overtones quiet, it's not tape, just a cable tie.
Hi Clint. I ordered one here in Thailand. They are made in South Korea.
