Beginning of the 1999 season everyone with the RAMS on their schedule was thinking "automatic win"! Then Trent Green went down and some grocery store shelf stocker got the chance of a lifetime and ended up the greatest "Cinderella story" in NFL history! Even as a lifetime RAMS fan (since 1969) after Green went down I thought their chances for a winning season was over, but it ended up being the greatest season of all time for a RAMS fan with a win in SB XXXIV, one of the best Superbowl games of all time! Great times, hopefully I'll get to see another dominant RAMS team like this in my lifetime!
If only the Rams could have completed their comeback against Saints in the first round in 2000. They would likely have rolled trough the rest of the playoffs and we could have had that Super Bowl. Would have been one of the best matchups ever.
Im aware that they set the record but that Ravens defense was not as talented/good/battle tested as the mid80s Bears...Def Front 7 was truly stocked/stacked but their 2ndary wasnt as good as many others ive seen...Ravens played against some very unimpressive offensive teams during that regular season(the afc centrals qbs in 00 if memory serves were kordell steward, tim couch, akili smith, steve mcnair, mark brunell, and ravens included, tony banks/dilfer) and postseason-the best offense they faced was the same raider offense which was held to 13pts by NE in the 01 postseason-without having to take Gannon out with a dirty/late hit the way Balt did...If they had faced the Rams in SB XXXV and shut them down for 4qtrs, that would have proven a lot more to me about how great their defense actually was. Mid80s Bears front 7 was just as stacked as the 2000ravens def front, but their 2ndary featured more good players at or approaching the peak of their careers-half of the ravens starting 2ndary-Starks and Herring-were avg players, and Rod Woodson altho still an effective playmaker and leader at the time, was past his prime...Id also add that the Ravens offense was a little underrated-Dilfer was productive and relatively efficient that season in that scheme with those players around him, and that offense featured a lot of very good players-Priest Holmes was Jamaal Lewis' backup-they had Sam Gash at FB, who was arguably the best lead blocker in the NFL for 3-4yrs...Ben Coates was their 2nd Tight End behind Shannon Sharpe-2yrs earlier those2 were the 2 best TEs in the entire AFC if not the entire NFL...They also had Brandon Stokley at WR, not to mention a gargantuan HOF LT...
Man, the Rams was a perfect storm of elite skill talent that played fast with a QB that was all precision. That offense was lethal in a dome. The Rams from '99-'01 changed the way the NFL thought about offensive match ups and personnel packages and the need for speed at the skill positions.
That offense did not deserve that defense, and that defense didn't deserve that offense. Both teams won the next two years despite, and perhaps in spite, of the other side of the ball.
I remember watching this game with some interest with both teams. The new Ravens head coach was the former offensive coordinator and architect of one of the most devastating offenses in league history in the '98 Vikings. On the other side was a rather unknown offensive coordinator named Mike Martz, Martz was OC and quarterbacks coach for the Redskins in '98. When the Redskins played the Vikings in '98 they were clobbered 41-7 by the high octane Viking offense. I've always thought that Martz picked up his ideas for the '99 Rams offense from seeing that '98 Vikings offense up close and how it could explode on any given play. The similarities between the two were very obvious.
If Holt gets into the HOF that will make 5 offensive starters on the same offense in the Hall. With Pace, Faulk, Bruce, Warner already having gold jackets.

First of all and as a Ravens hardcore fan, I would have to say, the Rams were AWESOME that year! I rooted for them in those playoffs all the way through, since my 8 and 8 Ratbirds (proudly said!), couldn’t make it through Festivuus. I would’ve loved to see this match played in a SB! Of course, not in January 2000, but in 2001. Of course the score in regular season 01 would’ve been Ravens 15, Rams 12 ( with the SL scores going like this: a TD by either IB or MF: a field goal and sack and safety to either Banks or Dilfer)! Great memories even though we lost.
That Defense the Ravens had the following year, Oh my. When they played Denver in the wild card game I told everyone they are going to win the super bowl because of their defense. I never seen anything like that. To me they only had 1 defense play and that was "Tecmo Bowl selecting our opponent's play", then watch purple just swarm wherever the ball went.
You can see the seeds planted for the 2000 Ravens in this game. They clearly playes extremely well against one of the greatest offensive teams of all time.
Chris O'Keeffe Weird seeing McAllister wearing #28. Starks taking over for DeRon Jenkins was addition by subtraction. Sam Adams’ arrival completely beefed up the Ravens D-Line and all but took away the oppositions running game.
That’s how I feel it works when you’ve been bad for so long, when u realize u finally have elite talent on one side of the ball via drafting and developing u go all in on the other side of the ball.

I’ve seen American underdog twice and they use the footage from this first game in the movie because I remember the line Warner finally makes a mistake
I think this is how Super Bowl XXXV would've played out TBH. Rams only rushed for 59 yards in this game, but unlike the Giants or Titans or even the Raiders, the Rams had Marshall Faulk, who could exploit Baltimore's linebackers in the pass game.
YOu'd think the entire 1999 Rams season would be available but it's been scrubbed from the Internet. Can't watch or buy it anywhere. I blame the Russians. But THANK YOU for posting this!
Really random and No disrespect to warner and the greatest show on turf, but if the 99 rams faced the 2000 Ravens, Baltimore I feel would've held them to less than 10 points...their defense was that unstoppable that season. Anyways, thanks for posting this video
How would you figure? Baltimore's defense and St. Louis's offense fielded nearly the exact same starters in 1999 and 2000. The Ravens had the 1st ranked defense and the Rams had the 1st ranked offense in 2000. In 2000, the Ram offense averaged over 33 points a game. The only game where the Rams scored less than 20 points was a 3-16 loss to Carolina where Warner was injured. In 2000, the Raven defense held opponents to 9 points or less 12 out of 21 times (~57%). I don't think the 2000 Ravens would have held the Rams to less than 10 points, but I think it would've been another low scoring game like this 1999 match-up. Hard to say though since they'll never play each other. Glad you enjoyed the video!
The Rams played the Buccaneers in 2000 (which fielded mostly the same starters on defense) and scored 35 points on them. Again, I wish those two teams could've played each other that year.
No way. Warner here is ripping the same Raven D lineup as 2000 for 284 yards in his first NFL start still learning the GSOT system. And doing it without Faulk, who the 2000 Ravens would have no answer to.
Daniel Leu dude y'all only scored 17 points against the Patriots defense in the Super Bowl lol. So what the heck make you think you would've scored more than 17 against the 2000 Ravens get outta here.

Cool man, thanks. To be honest, I'm fine with the way you're doing it. I just prefer to see the highlights anyway :) i love the way you're getting all the highlights in in chronological order! Are you going to do this for all the games from '99?
The plan is to do them for all the games from '99; however, the NFL is blocking my upload for the Rams/Titans Week 8 game. I re-edited it and I'm going to try uploading it again this weekend, but if it is still blocked I'll probably have to skip that one.
Daniel Leu I don't understand why the NFL blocks uploads of games. It's not as though they're selling them and you're taking business away from them. They have all these games that they know people would love to see, but they refuse to make it available. Why not at least let people upload it if they have the games? Fascist assholes.
Jesse Taylor its probably some principle bullcrap. I have heard that it is possible to contact nfl films and they can give some games/documents etc for good amount of money. And there is gamepass, but that only goes till 2009. But uploading games from 2009 forward do sort of take their money.
31 teams in the league that year. Someone had to have a bye every week. The poor Chargers opened the season with a bye week, then played 16 straight. The poor Browns ended their season a week early before week 17 being a bye.
@@PhillyCYOSports 1. This game is already on other RUclips channels in its entirety. 2. In the few full games that I have tried to upload, RUclips blocked every single one. 3. Who has time to watch a full game?
Mr Phil Not me, I waited all my fucking life for the Rams to get a GREAT QUARTERBACK, I watched Jackie Slater block for 23 quarterbacks, I grew up in LA hating quarterbacks and consequently loving DEFENSIVE ENDS THAT WOULD DESTROY QUARTERBACKS, I seen the Fearsome foursome play, my Son's RAM helmet got signed by Youngblood and Dryer in Canton Ohio in 01 not this RAM Fan pal, my prayers were answered
I don't know if I'd say Kurt was at his best this game. I mean, this was his very first start in the NFL and it was against a pretty good Ravens defense. Kurt did gamble on a lot of throws though that many other quarterbacks wouldn't try (or make). Maybe it was because the Rams receivers were unbelievably good. Maybe it was because Kurt is one of the most accurate passers in history. Maybe it was because the Rams knew they could score at any point in any game and didn't fear turning the ball over.
He didnt have many interceptions this year but in 2000 and 2001 he sure did . He was just a very aggressive passer . Disnt care how many he threw Mike martz was still going to have him sling it

Los Angeles Rams beat Stupid Baltimore Ravens previous name Cleveland Browns 27-10 Baltimore don't have NFL team from 1984 through 1993 era
Screw la rams
I'm sure after those interceptions, Rams fans were like 'go back to the Arena League, you _____'...
Watching this game reminded me that even at his best, Kurt Warner was still very prone to turnovers.
He only had 13 INT's that year in 499 attempts (2.6% INT's) Which is isn't high at all.
He didnt have many interceptions this year but in 2000 and 2001 he sure did . He was just a very aggressive passer . Disnt care how many he threw Mike martz was still going to have him sling it
I am sure you would do better
Whoever created tht Astro turf? Bullshit Is crazy as fuck! 😂😂😂 tht shit was so dangerous smh
