I was watching a programme the other day about the Titanic and when they showed photos of the dining room and salons all I could think about was your vision for the two suites. I think I now have a better understanding of where you are coming from. Tracy must be seeing crosses in her sleep 😴 it's looking amazing 😍
When you look back at historical chateau’s and decor for the 1700 and 1800’s, I find that many rooms are over the top with plasterwork cherubs, fresco paintings, moldings, ornate trim, gold, wood and fabrics as well as furniture. Everything is one huge eye candy work of art. It’s why I love looking at castles and old buildings and architecture and decor. Nothing minimal about it. Even the gardens were works of art. So I’m thrilled to see the details you are doing to bring back that opulence. 🥰❤

Terry, the top panel decoration looks spectacular! Your decorating concept for this room is going to be breathtaking!! Is there going to be any ornamentation added to the lowest level of paneling just above floor level? Your Mom deserves so much credit for her patience as she does all that detailing. I'll bet her neck and back are going to be complaining. Paula, Ash and Graham are doing an excellent job with all the behind-the-scene efforts they are contributing. The detail in the red room is appropriate for what you have in mind for a chateaux. It would be beautiful in a Michelin Star restaurant, or a museum. Absolutely amazing, I would love it if I had the appropriate building.

Terry ~ When you first decided to go with the faux wood finish I was excited to envision how that would look, and it has come out perfectly. I wasn't sure how I would like the gold trim with the wood finish. I absolutely love how you have adjusted your vision to accommodate the wood finish. It's just perfect ! Not too much and not too little . Of course I would not have a room like that in my Virginia farmhouse, but I absolutely would in a Chateau, It's perfect, stunning and will definitely leave all who see it with a lasting impression. Perfection !
It might be too much on every panel but it’s a huge room so you can get by with it. You will know as it’s finished how it feels but it’s looking like a grand gentleman’s room. This would have been a common thing in this time period. The ceiling looks amazing too!!!
Yes the rooms are taking shape very well and they are indeed looking fabulously opulent. The mahogany room is still my favourite as I love the warmth of the wood and find it very cosy and calming. With the soft wall lighting and the light of the fire making the gold glisten it will be a haven of serenity.
I would have 2 of the top panels with trim over the fireplace 2 panels over the bed and 2 mirrored on the other wall in the center. I’m thinking every panel might be too much, but I think you should trust your instincts. You have excellent taste, and every time I’ve thought you were off, you’ve proven me wrong! You are amazing!
