Thank you. I've been telling people this for years. And yes, Marnie B, human hair is human hair and at it's core still requires the same treatment...clean healthy hair. Of course, different textures mean some differences in styling but the same principles apply. For years black people get told that only black people can do their hair, this video proves that's not so true.
This Korean man must have been felt like he was in heaven doing this young lady's beautiful full African hair. He was in awe, when he initially said, 'WOW' as he started to comb her hair. No other race of people have our texture of hair. Remember that. It's unique. Our hair is magical!
At first I was like “man he must be so damn intimidated by all her hair. He’s probably just gonna straighten it.” Then I was like “oh damn he put edge control. OH DAMN HE BRAIDING IT!” That hair is intimidated by him.
Aww hes still there thats the same guy who did my hair when I was stationed in SK last year.. I went to him every 2 week.. My hair grew like 6 inches while I was there.. I love him
THIS man is an artist who is "sensitive about his ish!" He learned what ALL stylists should know: ALL hair types so he NEVER has to be concerned about work.
That's what kind of hairdresser I am. When I was in school the white girls were afraid of "ethnic" hair. I betcha I'll do any hair that sits in my chair. Money is green, honey!
From the title of the video, I thought this was going to be a trainwreck. Asians generally have thick straight hair that's pretty easy to work with but damn, he knew what he was doing. "Hes just gonna straighten it" lol. He wasn't playing around at all
To be honest, most stylists nowadays are taught how to work with different hair types. Sadly though, unless you’re black yourself then no one will trust you to touch their hair.
Back in 2005, I was on active duty in the Marine Corps. We had a training exercise in South Korea. On my free time off I decided to get my hair braided. The salon on the Army Base was owned by South Koreans. I got micro-braids. It was AMAZING. Too bad I never took a picture or video taped it. Such wonderful memories.
@Doppelganger D I think she means with the hair. He didn’t seem intimidated most other races touch black hair as if it’s some scary creature. He is so confident
@Doppelganger D I used to feel that way then I realized the double standards. A white girl described it to me as if someone touches Afro hair in that way it’s like they are petting an animal. It’s most definitely an insult because subconsciously that person is viewing you as the equivalent to an animal and also not showing normal HUMAN boundaries. Black hair styling or hair isn’t even taught to receive a beautician/ hair stylist certifications. Other poc are not interested they look at it as gross, intimidating, etc. I’m glad you’ve put your rose coloured glass on for your experience but there are open dialogues on this subject.
@Doppelganger D I think it definitely is a compliment, mostly I think it's just curiosity and appreciation. I'm white with blond wavy hair down to my waist, people always touch my hair, generally they say something nice about it or just comment that it's really long. I always take it as a compliment. I've travelled in Asia a lot, and so many people would touch my hair, they'd point at it and talk to all their friends about it. They also find the little blonde hairs on my arms fascinating as they generally don't have much hair there. I've had my arms stroked many times, and had groups of women pointing at them and giggling to each other about it. I always find that really sweet. I'll admit that I am curious about black hair, though I would never personally touch a strangers. It is so beautiful and so different to mine, I just really haven't seen it much in real life, I live in an area that is 98% white.
I don’t trust people in my home town in the U S of A to do my hair but I’d fly to South Korea just to let this guy do it. I don’t understand why stylists don’t try to branch into doing stuff like this. I just want a scalp massage without stressing if this person is going to rip al of my hair out 😭
Little Miss Claire Stop with the superficial nonsense...there's always someone who has to take away from the purpose of a video by saying how pretty/not pretty the person in the video is..IT NEVER FAILS. I don't think it has to do with the fact that it's Korea but the fact that he takes his job seriously and loves what he does. When you work in a place you feel comfortable and love what you do, you'll try harder to be the best, not because of the competition but because you naturally enjoy it.
What salons have you been to?!?! Have you ever been to a black salon? Black hair takes work--which is why black hair styles tend to last for many days (or weeks). His work looks good but black beauticians ("stylist" is too shallow) in America deal with black hair all day every day and (hopefully) most would not have cornrowed her hair this tightly (did you see how her skin was puckered along the edge above her ear?)! Maybe he doesn't realize black hair doesn't slip much so her hair will stay that tight until it grows out or FALLS OUT. Many black women who braid their hair constantly eventually end up with bald hairlines if they're not careful. Hair braided this tightly will hasten this eventuality.
This man trained his WHOLE life for this moment!!! Me: looking..... Him: laid that first braid Me: Oh she getting her hair DONE 👏🏾 DONE👏🏾!! Hook it up then Ajusshi!!!😄
well i would hope not. that tag he had on was from on post px. so he works on a military installation. most of the people who do are a little more versatile.
The stylist who did this hair deserves a fat tip and tons of praise it looks so good and its so great he took time to know what to do with all hair types ☺️
I literally said out loud "that is an amazing head of hair" when he took it down! Wow. My wavy hair is half way down my back, but due to thyroid issues, it is thin, dry and brittle. I'm in awe over your hair. (I went through cosmetology school in the 70's in an all white school. The last few months of class a black girl from NYC joined us and she must have hated that we were taught nothing about super curly hair. I went in the service and never worked in the field, so zero knowledge of super curly natural hair and I find these videos educational. A lot of time and talent goes into some of those gorgeous styles.)
Yes meanwhile they don't teach you how to braid in cosmetology school which is crazy. I've been licensed since 1996 and take a 2 refresher class once a year ( just to keep up to date with the latest styles)
BreeBrog I know! It wasn’t on the curriculum until a small group of students pushed to learn braids, and we learned box braids, cornrows, and so much, it sad that that’s not just part of the curriculum. I learned more from other students than I did from the teachers, I’m just glad that the students wanted to show our techniques, methods and tricks for doing different styles to each other.
Really? They taught us how to braid and even challenged us to make braid designs (roses, waterfall braids, ect ect) but did not teach us shit about black hair which is so sad. I go to another cosmetology school but now as an esthetician, being burned out from the previous school, and they teach about black hair, products for black hair, the culture of it, and ect. It is taught in-depth over here.
I'm white as a ghost and can't stop watching these braiding and natural hair videos because of how happy these girls get when someone makes them feel comfortable and beautiful. It's so pure and amazing.
Koreans are not afraid to do our hair. I learn that when I was in the military. Back home stateside I also had a Korean barber out in town. They master our hair they take the time to learn about our hair period.
That is because they love your money. I lived in South Korea for one year while in the Army. Koreans know who their biggest clients and money makers are. Believe me.
elly De ford Period! 💯💯They love how we give them all our money especially in the states.. we need our Own nail shops and Beauty supply stores keep our money with us.
I don’t think they’re saying Koreans are greedy or anything disrespectful, I think they’re saying that they respect and recognize the buying power that the black community represents, which white-run salons tend to ignore (because it takes extra effort to learn how to handle all kinds of hair). Black consumers have traditionally been underserved/under targeted by mainstream companies.
@darktemplarlifestyle have you been? The AA influence because of GIs in Korea is crazy. In their music, dance, and dress. Koreans have been making hair products for black people for like 60 years. Doesn't matter if their is a high population of black people only that they saw an opportunity and took it.
@@pwetty4r4 🙄 as if we don't know that, but imagine how much it would encourage others to learn our hair, especially in countries where there are not many black stylists, but black people still live there...so

I am blown away! That stylist has true skills and really demonstrates versatility and genuine care for clients of every hair texture. Hair stylists and human beings in general of his caliber are rare! Beautiful job!
My thoughts exactly. This was not his first rodeo, I was wondering if he was the one who had already braided her hair because she had just taken her hair down, and he didn't look shocked or surprised by her hair length. A regular black stylist would have at least commented on her hair length or thickness if it was their first time seeing her hair, but this is a awesome video.
Its crazy that hes a whole different ethnicity, with a whole different texture of hair being predominantly what he sees, and lives in a whole different country and was able to actually treat textured hair with talent and grace.
Denise Hammons That is sadly not true. I learned this job (I am from Austria) and we DO NOT learn to do this type of hair she has in this video in the standart education that requires it do be a professional hairdresser. You would need extra classes which can cost thousands of dollars. If I would have completed the education I think I would actually have got these extra classes. But on the other side thats a fuc*ing lot of money. But anyway. 😂❤️

This Korean man must have been felt like he was in heaven doing this young lady's beautiful full African hair. He was in awe, when he initially said, 'WOW' as he started to comb her hair. No other race of people have our texture of hair. Remember that. It's unique. Our hair is magical!
Semites actually have this texture of hair, the C’s B’s. My brother’s hair is this texture. Black as night hair, skin like the freshly driven snow

He wasn't playing around at all
Once you’ve worked with any thick curly hair as well as fine straight hair, want to learn and have passion: you can do it all.
To be honest, most stylists nowadays are taught how to work with different hair types. Sadly though, unless you’re black yourself then no one will trust you to touch their hair.

He didn’t seemed intimidated wow I like his confidence and professionalism.
@Doppelganger D I agree vfc with you. Folks fixated on stupidity.

Ha!
This Korean is shaming every Salon I have been to in America.
And Switzerland!!
No lie, every hairstylist I’ve been to except one was lazy as hell...and I cannot find her😭!

🧢💀
When a cosmetologist actually learns EVERYTHING in cosmetology school, unbiased. #madrespect

@@susiebadatti7319 I WASN'T READY! HE DID THAT SHIT!!!

Black consumers have traditionally been underserved/under targeted by mainstream companies.
darktemplarlifestyle dude chill, that’s all I have to say. Don’t reply to me cause I won’t respond
@darktemplarlifestyle have you been? The AA influence because of GIs in Korea is crazy. In their music, dance, and dress. Koreans have been making hair products for black people for like 60 years. But anyway. 😂❤️
Denise Hammons perioddddt educate yourself to learn how to do all textures
That’s my point, they should teach you how to do all types of hair for one coat while going to school. It shouldn’t be an extra class. But I get it!!!
