- "Hot for Teacher" is a song on Van Halen's album 1984. The sexually suggestive song was best known for Alex Van Halen's overdubbed, near motorcycle-like double bass intro, drum fills and shuffle pattern, and its music video featuring the band as both adults and young students in a high school. The Parents Music Resource Center protested it, calling for it to be pulled from both the radio and television, due to the song's sexually suggestive lyrics referring to sex with a teacher, and a female teacher stripping in the video, among other issues. In 2009 it was named the 36th best hard rock song of all time by VH1.

There's a live recording, from 1974, of Frank Sinatra saying that to the Woody Herman Band before their solo ('I've Got You Under My Skin', from 'The Main Event (Live)'). Given Dave's eclectic tastes I wouldn't be surprised if he borrowed the phrase from Frank. 😊

That is because most of the people who enjoy good live music, and will show appreciation to the band by going nuts are screened out by network security. Its a real pain in the balls trying to get into the audience of a televised music performance, and you will stand around for 10 hours despite what ever the weather is doing that day. Never again I said....

I love the way Dave talks to the audience during a song like having a conversation, makes you feel like you a part of it.

I'm saddened to admit, Michael not being apart of this blinded me to ever give Wolfgang a fair chance and damn you're right, he's fucking good. I don't know if that's the original bass line for that part but he pulled it off great.
yeah he's absolutely solid, his high backup harmonies are also perfection. So nice to hear real in-tune backup vocals not from a track.

Can't believe DLR broke his nose barely an hour before in the sound check when he missed the mic stand catch. Just pushed through. Seems out of it though. Maybe pain killers! Legend.
It wasn’t even soundcheck. It was actually the song they were performing for tv. They started out with Panama and that was the one shown on kimmel. DLR broke his nose while doing his spinning bar routine. He actually got through the first verse and chorus while constantly wiping his nose since he was bleeding bad. He walked off during the guitar solo to seek some help, then told the crowd what happened, Eddie played improvised solos to keep the crowd entertained and when he patched up they restarted. The tv actually showed the routine then used the take from after he was patched up and you can’t even tell they spliced it other than the camera switch. Look up David lee Roth incident and RUclips and you can watch both takes. The vid is about 15 min long and it’s camera footage from almost the front row

I agree! Besides with so many people filming concerts on their iPhones I figured that thats good enough reason to just put my phone away & enjoy the concert. I can then go on youtube & see the footage someone else filmed & enjoy it again knowing that I completely soaked up every bit of the show. You really do miss a lot of the show when you your busy taping it on your phone. But each to their own, its the world we live in now.
I think they are simply filming what they see as history. Back in the day, we'd simply drive to the next town for the show to relive it.

EVH, grey hair and fingers flying faster than anyone younger than him. GOAT. This guy tore apart and assembled whole guitars to get the sounds he wanted. Everybody else just whipped out credit cards after guitar companies copied what Eddie had achieved and invented. Eddie was a guitar GOD.

Dave does not always deliver a good performance, especially as he gets older, but they all nailed it in this performance. Glad I got to see them play live 4x over the years.

I followed Van Halen from when they first started in the late 70's and saw them 2 nights running on the 1980 invasion tour at the Rainbow Theatre London.

As someone who grew up with this song (thanks to my step dad who grew up in the 80s and 90s), I find it sad that the audience is just standing still with their phones up in the air. I'm 26 and grew up with the same technology. How are these people not jumping and/or rocking out like they should? Put your phones away and give these guys the respect they deserve.

VH should go to Sth America & rock out with a proper crowd who'll rock just as hard as the band will. The AC/DC concerts in Sth America are EPIC because the crowds are incredible!!!
