    The most shocking thing for me was how in the _Lion King_ remake, all the songs were more or less the same, except for _Be Prepared._ It's less than half as long, it's got none of the original lyrics, and it's not even a song anymore! It's just Scar speak singing with the hyenas chanting. I will never forgive Disney for completely butchering one of the greatest villain songs of all time.

    • @justinfriedrich5741
      @justinfriedrich5741 Год назад +3

      I agree as well. However, the problem isn’t actually how people feel about them it’s usually how people involved reacts. For example, let’s say I’m a director for a live action Disney remake of the princess and the frog and I cast a white person to portray Tiana to make it more align with the story and I do it by respecting the fans and understanding the criticism but I will never disrespect the fans. However, let’s say friend Mal does the same thing but disrespects the fans, the story, and the people involved. Which one is better preferred for people who are fans the ones that respects and let’s fans choose if they like it or not or the one that disrespects everything and doesn’t let fans choose the choice to feel which results in anger and disappointment for both the fans and the people involved. What Disney choose was the Mal technique and that’s why it’s pretty much undesirable. If they really want to make that story focus on the new story and respect the people who could be fans of that new story, but if it’s a story that’s already told respect the story, the built fandom, and don’t change it to be unrecognizable or to follow a new version of the story.

      And really, the King's brother killing the King, or attempting to do so or otherwise usurping the throne, is a pretty common trope in fiction. That were shocking changes.. That's why is that both verssions are different and unic: the animated versions had the magic, while the remakes developed somethings that the original movie didn't do: I missed that color of the animated versions and the noticiable of the expressions of the animals, but the changes in the songs weren't so bad.. In Aladdin, I was amazed that the Genie became human when he obtained his freedom, and that he also fell in love with Dalia, and decided to travel the world with her; also the very sad Tramp's backstory, that he was abandoned by his owners when they had their baby and from there he thinks that "when the baby comes in, the dog leaves"; the thing of "not having songs" to the live action of Cinderella and Maleficent was fine, except for Mulan (which I did not like that they took away the inspiring of the effort that Mulan had to overcome until she became a great warrior); when Gaston hit Maurice and then he was going to let him die in the forest, he did show his true monstrosity and evil and it hurt me more when the town stayed on his side and didn't believe Maurice, and I liked that they gave backstory to Maleficent and the Evil Stepmother, so that we can understand them and that they were not evil because yes..

Drugged and violated, which real victims have related to, so the film takes on *massive* serious issues in an alternant approach that u would never thought Disney would think of. With Genie falling in love, I'm cool with that; just not that he became human and lost his magic. Whereas in the og and sequels (films and series) he was still magical but no longer bound to a master. As for Mulan, I liked it, along with the phoenix that gave silent encouragements. I even found this article that some people in China didn't like Mushu, really.

The classics are classics for a reason. But the ones that bombed at the box office, like Treasure Planet, Black Cauldron, Atlantis, etc. I would like to see if they get a better reception. Give a movie that didn’t do well a second chance in live action form. Maybe they didn’t do well because they were ahead of their time. Maybe now they would be better today.

    The constant race-swapping of various characters. Don't get me wrong, diversity is important but the problem with race-swapping is that it's the same story with a different ethnicity. Why not tell original stories?

    Its so awful, like in the comments section, the people are only complainig, noone is complimenting Cruella or Maleficent or even Lion king for being less problematic
    Or the more emotionally developed Cindy & it having a better ending for her forgiving her stepmom showing her goodness furtherly , and having a better development of the storyline making her father's death much more related to the topic & backing the story more emotionally, & providing more to the starting & her sisters calling her " Cinderella" to show their evilness , & more character development of Charming
    Or A better treatment of Genie in Alladin
    Or even the beauty and the beast to show the Gaston more evil rather being a crackhead maniac, or the more independent Belle , or The more inclusive Ariel
    Just everyone's thinks that , they should do the remake same as the original
    If you are so nostalgic, go watch the old ones, they still are there
    And yeah congratulating them to finally experiment more to get out of their musical era

    Well, Maurice wouldn't give Gaston permission to marry Belle, and while not necessarily required, the father's blessing was pretty important in those days. However, if her father appears to have died of an accident, attempting to court and marry the now orphaned daughter then becomes more feasible, at least in Gaston's mind since Belle would still never marry him.
