Cheaper is not always weaker. The homedepot shallow well pump simply could not handle the pull. Purchased a harbor freight pump and my problem was solved in seconds.
I am pumping from a tank and do not need X-tra (blue) pressure tank.. The unit works perfectly by it's self.. Kicks on when any valve in the house is opened and off when closed... good video brother,, Thank You...

I’ve had mine for about 6 month and use it everyday for about 2 hours is just great, works awesome. One thing to keep in mind, is meant to be protected from whether rain, sun etc it will start rusting just like any other,
I'm on my second green pump from Harbor freight like you have in the video. The pump is great when it works, but after a couple months it starts tripping the breaker because the motor is burning out. You can reset it's few times, but it will eventually go, second one is now doing it after about 6 months. Pump is good, motor is junk
Some of those Chinese made water pumps are fabulous. We purchased a cheap Chinese made irrigation pump 5 or 6 years ago and we've abused it terribly. It has even run dry several times with no issues. It was about $90 with free shipping online. When I ordered it I was hoping it would last a year.

For real! After my 4th Saturday messing with a pump like the one you had I ordered the drummond. I can't wait to get this project over with and up and running
The max lift for a shallow well pump is 29 feet. More than that requires a deep well pump. If you are truly pulling 100 feet it’s no wonder it would not work.
I've purchased several (4) of HF pumps and they work well for a bit then the impeller breaks at the center. Then I bought a burcam for almost $400-500 from Lowes and it has now locked up less than 2 years. Need to buy 1 with stainless steel impeller but when on the spot need you can't get 1.
I really like the pump, it works great. Ive burned up 2 in the last 2 years though.(home use) The first one the bladder went and it cycled so much it burnt out the switch, second one blew out the intake and burned out with no water intake. 159$ cant be beat tho. Just be careful to keep it primed properly or you will fry it pretty quickly.
Thanks! I think it's finally time to retire my 1950's shallow well pump and blatter tank that are audible on the second floor. I was looking at a bunch of options, this one from the Hazard Fart caught my eye. Glad to see it's works out good, definitely gonna get it, especially because of the price
Those Drummond are a good value, it will definitely get you by but not super long term. I actually installed exact same pump. Worked pretty good for about 2 years before i had to make repairs to it, then i got another year or two before it completely went. I think i got about 20 years out of my submersible pump in comparison but 10 times the cost too and i do everything myself. So if you just needed something to get by or dont need water all the time these Drummond arent bad for the price plus they have built in pressure tank. Install is about as easy as it gets with well pumps. One line in, one line out, set air pressure on tank 2-3 pounds less than cut on pressure, make sure to fill pump completely full of water to prime pump, plug in and your ready to use.
Ive had that drummond pump like yours and been running it for over 2 years pumping water from 2500 gallon rain catchment system. Have had not a single problem with it.
Hey! I'm also setting up a rain catchment system (325 gallons) and was wondering if you thought the drummond pump would be enough to pull water from the tote and into some tubing/hose to water a couple plants? Thanks!
the pump will work very well, the only flaw i find is the elbow that goes into the tank. mine cracked within 2 years. i had a pressure tank like you so i removed the hose and put a plug in the pump and i was good to go.
We have had the 1 HP Drummond pump on our solar system for just shy of two years. It was $152 at Harbor Freight and pumps with good pressure to all indoor and outdoor faucets, showers, and toilets. It worked flawlessly until two weeks ago. Now, it is coming on and off almost non-stop, however its power source is a dedicated 3000W Harbor Freight inverter, which has also gotten glitchy. We are not sure if the pump was damaged by the glitchy inverter, but we are buying a new Drummond pump today for $169, which in our opinion does the work of an $800 pump. As a side note, the Harbor Freight 3,000W Inverter's internal connections seem to "loosen up" over time. We've tightened those connections at least 3 times, then it works fine for a month or so. If anyone has any suggestions, other than junking it, we'd appreciate your thoughts.
the everbilt is made for shallow Wells and you have a deep well. You have to do the conversion, which is really simple, but your well looks to small to fit the ejector into it.
Shallow well pumps are only designed to pull water from about thirty feet down. Gravity prevents the weight of the water drawn any further. As mentioned by another, you need to put a venturi on your pump which pushes water down another pipe which offsets the weight of the water being pulled up. It works like an elevator with a counter Balance on the opposite side of the elevator car. The pump doesn't work as hard and won't lose prime.
Yes the HF web page of the pump shown in the video says it can be used with depth up to 26 ft. I’m still wondering what are good options for a single pipe (
I had a 30 foot deep well with a convertible Sears pump. It could run as a single pipe "suction" pump or a 2-pipe jet (deep well) pump. My water level was only 16 feet deep so a single pipe installation should work fine. However, I achieved much higher output with the equipment set up as a deep well pump. I had to buy the poly pipe (2 different sizes are used) and I used the supplied ejector. The instructions were quite clear on what performance could be achieved in both configurations.

I have a 3 inch dia well pipe into a shallow well 10-12ft deep. I use it to refill an in ground pool after vacuuming . Started having prime loss a few months ago and had to revert to house water refills after vacuuming.. water bill cost is horrible! I see u r not using a well cap..but using a towel.why not? I cant find a 3 in cap for mine and tried that but it worked terrible. Now replacing well AND pool pumps! Expensive!! Modifying a solid pvc cap to use as a well cap..might just work! Wish me luck.
I'm trying to pull water from around 70 feet down, really hoping this pump will handle it, a little confused about priming though. Does the pump have to get primed every use or can you put a check valve in near the inlet? Any advice would be great!
I would put a check valve towards the bottom of the well and another one at the top. I put one on my existing pump when it started to loose water when shut off.
Is this a 1hp 5 gal. hardened steel alloy tank Maximum flow: 950 GPH (gallons per hour) Pressure switch operation: 30 PSI On / 50 PSI Off Maximum suction lift: 26 ft. Stainless steel pump housing Maximum water pressure: 50 PSI Thermal protection with automatic reset Intake and discharge ports: 1 in.
Thank you for the video. Does the pump come with a plug or do you have to wire it yourself? Also did you have to prime it or did it draw water right out of the box? Thanks in advance
You are very welcome. How kind of you to say that. :). It comes with plug but of course you need power to plug it into outdoors. The priming is very simple as it simply requires you pour water into the opening on the top.
It is about 60 feet down to the water table in my well. I am far from the grid and I like it that way and at the moment a little pump like this is all I can afford. I am hoping it will pull water from 60 + feet.
@@alwaysavailabletree5349 no. But it may be that I have a bad foot valve. I had a couple of heart attacks and quadruple bypass so I've not been able to work on it again yet.
@@alwaysavailabletree5349 l think it just takes time. I've prolonged my recovery by trying to do too much too soon. 3 weeks after I left the hospital I chop the tree down with an axe which evidently was not a good idea. But things are progressing so I just have to be patient. Hopefully I will get to that well eventually. What are you trying to do with your well?
Hello Greenleaf thank you very much for the video I have I have a well that hasn't been used in probably 6 7 years there's a 2in pipe going down into the ground I tried using a water hose and it collapsed from the suction so I got a stronger water hose wasn't able to go down all the way may be a one foot left seems like the pipe get smaller as it goes down. I get water shooting out maybe every 30 to 40 seconds My question there is a pressure gauge on the side of the green tank are you supposed to feel the green tank up with water and is that pressure gauge supposed to move ?? I never see it move off of 0
you need to have a Pressure Switch for Well Pumps and Brass Check Valve so you don't get overheated, let alone run out of water pressure because all the time running causes the line to the well to dry
So good of a video. How far from the well can I have the pump? If I have a well that’s 30 feet down and 20 feet from that well, will this pump work you think? I’d like to be able to keep the pump in the garage and use it for yard sprinkler, etc
Great presentation - right to it!! So I have a shallow dug well that's only about 14 feet deep and water is at around 7 feet and so that suction part should be no problem for this pump. Also, I know a lot of pumps at 1hp have a maximum water lift of around 100 feet (meaning vertical) now the area I need to water is probably only around 15 feet vertical lift - BUT - the hose length would be a little over 200 feet -- do you think that hose length would be fine for this pump??? I see many others say that with similar pumps that they have no problem with long hoses. Your thoughts on this are greatly appreciated and --- thanks for the great share!!!
When the pump motor is above ground and there is only 1 pipe going down to the well, that is a shallow well pump, that is less than 25 feet to the water. There is no way that would work down to 100 feet
Thanks for this video, I've been trying to decide on a pump for my 2000 gallon water catchment system that will supplymy 40 ft container unit. Would love to see/hear your ideas on the solar setup as I'm using an 11kw solar grid to powere everything. Thanks
I know this is an older video but you should grab a generator from Harbor Freight as well because those Champion are POS. The Predator from Harbor is a honda clone engine and you get double the runtime from them as you do those Champion. I get 16 hours runtime under a load off one tank of fuel. 3.5 gal.
I believe that other pump is not meant for drawing water upwards from a well, and more for pushing it fast through a mostly horizontal system, like a pool or jaccuzzi. don't quote me, but as far as I know water pumps need to be very purpose built, because moving water upwards is hard as shit
It is a shallow well pump, it can pull from 25 ft feet, any more and you would need a deep well conversion pump or a submersible pump. I use this exact one at my boat dock for washing down the boat etc.
How far Down is the draw pipe? I have a 62ft well with the water table at 25ft. I was told this wouldn’t pull if I put it down to 35ft. I have one and I’m still going to try it. Love the video and this product.
I would assume that the larger system would pull better, but I would have bet it cost more. I would have also bet that they are both Chinese made. Good video. Maybe one day when you hit the lotto you can just run them both into each other and see what gives. Muwhahaha.
HI THE LOWS PUMP HAS TO BE CONVERTER TO DEEP WELL PUMP YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF AND CONVERTED TO TWO PIPE GOING DOWN TO THE WELL AND THE HEAD WITH THE TWO PIPES GO DOWN IN TO THE WELL IF YOU LIKE GO TO HOMEDEPOT VIDEOS HOW TO CONVERT SHALLOW WELL PUMP TO DEEP WELL PUMP. THANK YOU.
LOLLLLL, Bro you cant use a shallow Pump well to Pump water for a deep well. To use a shallow well Pump, extract water from a deep well. It can work, but you of to convert the Pump to. If the well was 25 feet if would work. Any thing over that can consider as a deep well.
That is true however this specific well pump actually manages well versus the other under the same circumstances. It could just be the overall design. Both pumps are advertised for the same application.
As far as not being able to do a step by step because you have to hold the camera. You should get a tripod or some type of hands free forehead camera holder. It looks silly but it's efficient enough. Can't wait to see more videos fellow family in Christ!
Bought one installed it, nothing, Has no suction at all. Yes I have put pumps in before and yes I did prime it. Not sure if I want to mess with another one or just go get from some where else. It will not even pull water from a bucket.
Hi I live in rural California and we deal with PG&E power shut offs and loss of power in the winter time in our only water supply is electricity so I'm wondering how many feet can I use a piping to go on my well my love I deep well but there's no product for this what this work I've got tons of PVC pipe from when my mother-in-law lived on the property looks like the same size you used
I've since sold the property, but while I was there it gave me no issues. As long as it's protected and has adequate filling tank to prevent continual cycling i do not see why it wouldn't last.
The blue tank is a holding tank which allows water to flow from it out to your tap without the pump having to continuously pull. The larger the tank the less the pump has to switch on and off. Thank you. :)
@@Remnant144000 The blue tank is "pressure" tank that contains a "rubber" bladder between the water and the air. It comes with, say, 40 psi in the bladder. When you pressurize the water system, the bladder presses against the air, effectively "storing" some pressure. A properly calibrated pressure switch then shuts off the pump. Next time the water pressure is used, the water flows out of the blue tank until the pressure switch senses it's time to switch on the pump. So, you're "storing" a few gallons of water under pressure to give your pump some time to relax between short uses.
I have one of the Drummond pumps for my shallow well how do I adapt the bladder tank a secondary because that bladder tank isn't big enough and I see you have one adapted to it
If I'm understanding you correctly you are wanting to run piping from the small tank that's on the pump to the bigger one I have on the video? If so you will need to run a tee pvc fitting to connect to the Drummond tank then to your bigger tank and the open end will supply water to your desired location.
Actually It only has power going to it when I turn on my grid power to the house. It's not continual power. Just when I am wanting to use it. It maintains prime whether powered or not. Does this make sense.
Do you have a video or suggestion for your setup for solar on this. I just installed mine and it pumps great, i just don't want to need to take a generator to it daily
I’m working on an irrigation system powered by that green Drummond pump.. where did you get that black manifold fitting for the intake between the pump and pvc ?
Is your pump from HD a shallow well 3/4 hp pump it's good to 25 ft. Deep well 3/4 to 1hp pump needed for anything greater with foot valve for good suction . Imho.
Do you have a tutorial for entire setup I'm new to this, but our city water has high levels of lead, and radon I showed the water department and they said they can't fix it. So I got a well permits approved
How deep did you dig the well? Have you finished your home or dwelling? We haven't decided on what type of home we are going to build. We may just do a dry cabin build. The 5th wheel we live in right now is not 4 seasons and the rainy place we live in now is crazy.
Burn-ett Woodwork Burn-ett Woodwork The well is about 60 to 70 feet deep. I don't live in an area with toxic runoff or farming contamination. I've stayed in an RV for over a year and I agree it's not suitable for four seasons without some modifications and upgrades. Especially with a family. If you don't mind me asking why did you choose a cabin? I'm almost finished with my efficiency home.
I know the everbilt sump pumps are absolute garbage, I bought 4 of them to remove rain water from my property and all but 1 went kaput in 2yrs, the seals on the shaft gave out and the motor oil leaked out as water went in, the 5yr warranty is a joke, they replace the part and I'd have to pay for shipping and the labor of having the part(s) replaced, now I'm trying out Wayne pumps.
It's a very simple wire job from the power cord to the connectors from what I remember. The instructions are included and from a scale of 1 to 10 for beginners I'd give it a 2 or 3. I had no problems connecting it and I'm no electrician.

It holds water and is factory pressurized; however this system is not dependent on the blue tank for pressurization. It does however keep the pump from having to run continuously due to its water holding capacity. The bigger the better for this purpose. I hope this answers your question.
GreenLeaf Natures Solution I have a pump just like it it works awesome. But when i open the water hose it automatically turns on. I was thinking to buy a bigger tank to hold more water but my question is do i need a pressurized tanknor ir can be any tank without the pressure-stat. I can only find them with the pressure stat
@@Acruz1994 I'm no expert, but the purpose of the tank is to hold water, but if there is no pressure coming from the tank then im not sure how it would work. What would trigger the pump to shut off? Maybe a flotation device? It's not the pressure per say that is causing the pump to cut back on, but rather a drop in water level which is triggered by a reduction in pressure. The pump will cut on once the faucet is opened and the water level within the tank drops. But if there is no pressure within the tank I'm not sure what would trigger the pump to stop and utilize the reserve water stored in the tank. If you do not find a certain answer before I do, I'll update this response with a more technical explanation from someone I know who specializes in this.

Yes that tee is key and the additional tank as the one on the pump would cause continual cycling of well pump which would shorten it's life.

I would put a check valve towards the bottom of the well and another one at the top. I put one on my existing pump when it started to loose water when shut off.
Thank you
Very welcome. :)

You are able to pull water from a 100 feet well with this pump?
I have a 60ft well. I was wondering if I could use this pump?
It will do 60 feet. If you can prime it it will pull.
RAN Institute thanks for getting back to me! I have the power all set up and ready. For the price it looks great, I’m gonna get one and give it a try
@@Jinkinsonsasa please update us how it works out for you. Mine has been great. And you are welcome. :)
It is about 60 feet down to the water table in my well. I am far from the grid and I like it that way and at the moment a little pump like this is all I can afford. I am hoping it will pull water from 60 + feet.
Did you end up getting it to work with a well that deep?
@@alwaysavailabletree5349 no. But it may be that I have a bad foot valve. I had a couple of heart attacks and quadruple bypass so I've not been able to work on it again yet.
@@rodneyslinger6316 Sorry to hear that. Keep on going buddy. Hope you get better.
I get water shooting out maybe every 30 to 40 seconds
My question there is a pressure gauge on the side of the green tank are you supposed to feel the green tank up with water and is that pressure gauge supposed to move ??
I never see it move off of 0
thanks for this. seen these pumps at HF awhile back. its time to buy now so i think ill take a flyer on it
IUs that the 1 hp model?
You are welcome. It's been awhile but it was the 1hp or 1 1/2. Can't quite remember.
you need to have a Pressure Switch for Well Pumps and Brass Check Valve so you don't get overheated, let alone run out of water pressure because all the time running causes the line to the well to dry
That comes with the pump, both the pressure switch and check valve.
There is no way that would work down to 100 feet
thank you for your words
Very Welcome
Just what I was looking for thanks
You are very welcome. :)
I just purchased a property with a well on it . I’ll have to check one out .
3.5 gal.
I use Honda parts on my Champion 3000 . The Champion is also a Honda Clone of a different model.
Thanks for the help !!
How far Down is the draw pipe? I have a 62ft well with the water table at 25ft. I was told this wouldn’t pull if I put it down to 35ft. I have one and I’m still going to try it. Love the video and this product.
What was you're luck im I. The same process
I would assume that the larger system would pull better, but I would have bet it cost more. I would have also bet that they are both Chinese made. Good video. Maybe one day when you hit the lotto you can just run them both into each other and see what gives. Muwhahaha.
Death Becomes You lol I know right. Thanks my friend.
THANK YOU.
Great video Prince of God.
Thank you. Appreciate the encouragement.
Yep, return it.
Thanks for this, i wonder about how much in lift you are pulling. how far from pump intake to top of water column?
Hi I live in rural California and we deal with PG&E power shut offs and loss of power in the winter time in our only water supply is electricity so I'm wondering how many feet can I use a piping to go on my well my love I deep well but there's no product for this what this work I've got tons of PVC pipe from when my mother-in-law lived on the property looks like the same size you used
How has the pump held up? I hear the newer China-made ones only last 6-18 months.
I've since sold the property, but while I was there it gave me no issues. As long as it's protected and has adequate filling tank to prevent continual cycling i do not see why it wouldn't last.
Awesome videos thank you
Very welcome
Tku 4 share n handz on knowledge
Great video.Do you have to have the blue tank to just pump water out of a well to empty the well?
The blue tank is a holding tank which allows water to flow from it out to your tap without the pump having to continuously pull. The larger the tank the less the pump has to switch on and off. Thank you. :)
Very nice where did you get the holding tank and what size
@@Remnant144000 The blue tank is "pressure" tank that contains a "rubber" bladder between the water and the air. It comes with, say, 40 psi in the bladder. When you pressurize the water system, the bladder presses against the air, effectively "storing" some pressure. A properly calibrated pressure switch then shuts off the pump. Next time the water pressure is used, the water flows out of the blue tank until the pressure switch senses it's time to switch on the pump. So, you're "storing" a few gallons of water under pressure to give your pump some time to relax between short uses.
How about a foot valve or check valve to prevent water from flowing back to the well?
@@jmalinowski1000 definitely.
Do you recommend that green pump for a rain water harvesting tank running to a greenhouse or do yoi have a better suggestion?
*WOW !!! THIS DUDE SOUNDS LIKE A YOUNG JOHN TRAVOLTA....🤔*
Any chance you happen to know the capacitor rating for that Drummond well pump? A surge blew up the capacitor and now it's unreadable.
You did Not install (Venturi tube) . That’s why the Home Depot did not work. I have one and it works perfect.
Do you have to keep the power on 24/7 or is it safe to have this on a timer to turn off/on daily?
Actually It only has power going to it when I turn on my grid power to the house. It's not continual power. Just when I am wanting to use it. It maintains prime whether powered or not. Does this make sense.
I keep mine off for days at a time sometime.
You made a cool video
I think the Everbuilts are rated for 25'...you said a 100' well? That may be why it didn't work properly...?
You have to remove the end off the pump and install it on the piping down inside the well . There’s a video on RUclips on how it’s plumbed differently
Do you have a video or suggestion for your setup for solar on this. I just installed mine and it pumps great, i just don't want to need to take a generator to it daily
Thanks you very much.
I’m working on an irrigation system powered by that green Drummond pump.. where did you get that black manifold fitting for the intake between the pump and pvc ?
honeydewbunson It came off the everbilt pump I believe. But that is a common part that can be purchased from any plumbing store.
3 year old video. Is the pump still working ok man? Thanks for the video!
I really like the pump, how much the TCPrice in 1-set
I know the everbilt sump pumps are absolute garbage, I bought 4 of them to remove rain water from my property and all but 1 went kaput in 2yrs, the seals on the shaft gave out and the motor oil leaked out as water went in, the 5yr warranty is a joke, they replace the part and I'd have to pay for shipping and the labor of having the part(s) replaced, now I'm trying out Wayne pumps.
Im sorry to hear that. I've heard good things about the Wayne pumps.
How the pump work? Its making louder noise or not?
Do the pump Need any wiring? Are it comes ready to go..
It's a very simple wire job from the power cord to the connectors from what I remember. The instructions are included and from a scale of 1 to 10 for beginners I'd give it a 2 or 3. I had no problems connecting it and I'm no electrician.
These are $154.95 right now use a 20% off coupon Get$31.00 off Makes it 123.95 .. I Used the savings and added about $5.00 got a 2 year replacement plan .Always make a copy of your receipt they tend to fade and are unreadable but keep them together anyway.
Question, the blue holding tank is just for holding water? You are not using the pressure stat that comes with the blue tank?
Good job
doginstine thanks a lot for encouraging words.
What kind of solar set-up will you use to just run the pump?
You mentioned it could be powered by solar... How many watts?
Do it ofto keep priming ,after first time priming
No it should automatically pull from that point onwards without priming unless the water levels became extremely low and the pressure was lost.
