That switch on the pump is probably not heavy enough for the current that motor draws and will likely cause you trouble at some point down the road. I used to think those were a good idea on my pool filter motors, but they burn out after about a year or so. I decided I was better off eliminating the switch and just plugging the cord in to turn it on.
Howdy sir. DEF appreciate the vid ! What size is the Suction Rated Hose, 1", or 3/4" , that goes from the Ball valve of the tank to the Foot Valve of the Pump Inlet ? Ty kindly, David
I bought a little 2-cycle pump for my off grid cabin recently too, but plenty of people utilize a pump like this off of a generator in off grid situations.
@@workinonitstevequestion. How does the float valve send a message to the pump to switch off when the tank is full. I didn’t see a sensor cable of any kind. I’m non technical so maybe be missing something here. Thanks
@@lennieadiI don’t think it does, I have the same question, I’ve been trying to figure out how to not have to stand there to fill up my tank but instead have the well turn itself off and on as necessary. I don’t have a pressurized reserve tank either
@@AnthonyPlatinumdetail-i6y they make some small 12v transfer pumps that might work well for you. That could be a possibility. I also have a small gas powered pump on my fire trailer that works well.
The green tank is a small pressure tank. Same as the big ones you see on a normal well setup. It has a rubber bladder inside that is pressurized with compressed air. It helps maintain pressure and keeps the pump from hammering on and off. The pump forces water into it and the water outlet comes out of it. Kinda acts like a shock absorber, does that make sense?
@@workinonitsteve I drained my pump by removing the flexible hose from the green tank. I cannot remove my pump it's installed. I just wonder how much water stays in the green tank. ?
@@harrycash8713 if you are trying to winterize it I would recommend filling it with Rv antifreeze and running it for a second to circulate it. I drained mine last year and forgot to move it inside and it froze and broke.
Isn’t that a check valve and not a foot valve, I believe it’s serving the same purpose as a foot valve except for the fact that the FV has a screen on it. I’m not for sure just asking.
You are correct, what I was trying to explain was that you need one or the other. A foot valve has a screen and goes down the well vs this can just go anywhere on the suction side in-line.
Yes it’s a foot valve, you can get the threaded like mine for inline setup from a tank or one with a screen on it for drafting out of a shallow well. It just keeps the water from draining out of the pump causing you to lose prime .

Perhaps you should know a little about what you are doing before giving instructions to other people.. .. AND the directions say never reduce the pipe size...
I’m using the foot valve as a check valve to prevent pressure from bleeding back after the pump shuts off. Good video. I'm wanting to drive a shallow well out back to water the grass on my runway and considering a similar style pump to run the sprinklers.
I’m happy with it, ran it for a year with no issues. Just don’t let it freeze. What do you fly?
Interesting setup. I replaced the same pump with the same pump lol. Also noticed the small differences.
I just had another one cease up, guess I’ll see if the warranty this one.

I use that Harbor Freight water pump in a reverse osmosis system setup to deliver the water to the endpoint hydrant to be used to wash cars.

Just subscribed awesome video my only Complaint is u used a harbor freight product.
Great video ... i just purchase the same pump but it's not automatically shutdown and the pump keeps running.... why?
It should. possible it might have a bad pressure switch. What pressure is it getting up to?
If the pressure never reaches 50 psi the pump wont shut down. Hence the pressure switch 30/50..
This is great. Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Nice job, there's nothing better than an intelligent White man.

Will this pump be on an auto on and off based on when water starts flowing or is it always on building pressure ?
It operates on a pressure switch like a standard well with a pressure tank. Same as most air compressors cycling on and off.
