It actually blows my mind how many people clicked on this video just to shill for Blizzard and criticize people for being "poor" just because they didn't want to purchase Early Access. Also, for anyone defending these advantages by saying they're "minor" or "not important by the time M+ releases", you're completely missing the point. Blizzard employees publicly stated across multiple interviews that there would be no major advantages during Early Access. They specifically said that Weekly Quests would be disabled, and many of them are still working. Whether or not you think Early Access is good, or if the advantages are significant, it doesn't change the fact that Blizzard employees lied when discussing this paid feature. That's disgusting, it deserves to be called out, and we as players should expect better communication from a billion dollar company.

Didn't the same thing happen with Diablo 4?
I have Early access, though I am not a high end player nor am I likely to be able to dedicate any kind of time to chasing those advantages.
Gamers sadly always miss the bigger picture.
I was around when it was "who cares it's just Horse Armor it's not that big a deal" - to here we are today and gamers are well and truly used to being nickle and dimmed for bits and pieces of the game experience.
Early access is just a continuation of that and I wish it would stop - but game-theory dooms us all.

People are actually crazy fanboys who love to argue and offend people online even then they are wrong themselves. Just like at FF14, early access is tied to PREORDER AT LOWEST PRICE, GW2 doesn't have early access at all to most current expansions (already released this week) which also didn't have public testing other then press preview and weapon skills weekend that was public.

It's both good and bad. Good because you get to play your game much sooner, bad if this practice goes unchecked and gets to Diablo Immortal epic proportions of pay to play. Oh, and of course the benefits like leveling your character to level 80 much sooner as well, etc.

As someone who's spent a lot of time historically focused on goldmaking and professions the early access was always going to be unfair to those who didn't pay for it. The first days of an xpac have always been crazy opportunities for money makers and with the new professions giving people 4 days to get ahead is a massive advantage for anyone actually competing.
I could have bought in, but $90 is just more than I want to pay for a game with a sub (and I've never been interested in the epic editions). But seeing others dive in without me has really really sucked.
There is just NO way to let some people into the game and not others and really have the 4 days not make a difference in a game like this...

    • @Senen33

For goldmaking people, the correct play was to buy the EA with tokens. Hardcore goldmakers would absolutely make their money back thanks to these additional 4 days.

With rep being warband shared, how have they balanced just redoing faction story quests as farming rep? Couldn’t i just redo the same story quests for those factions on a dozen characters, no gates or caps? Or do i misunderstand the time/rep exchange rate? It used to be doing story quests was the best rep source generally but it was limited by the number of quests, and repeatable quests and farming gave less per action

    • @Lonarra1

They aren't mutually exclusive though? Just because you can get a ton of rep from sidequests (which you should be doing, obviously) doesn't mean world quests don't provide an additional considerable source of rep. I've fully completed every single side quest and killed every single rare and opened every single treasure; I'm only at ~10 Renown with all factions. World quests and other sources are required to progress further.

And it's not like i can't afford 30 euros, or that i really care about the advantages, but it's just a sign of things to come. Same thing as mounts in the shop tbh, just go look on 2009 comments on wowhead, they literally were telling that if we allow these mounts to be sold on the shop then it will become the norm. I don't see how EA won't become a staple thing from now on. Who knows, maybe at some point there will crank it down even more.
This annoyed me so much that i cancelled my sub. Keep in mind that i have never done that, not even in shadowlands. It's just a combination of things that ultimately made me feel like shit about wow. I know they have to make money but they are making huge bank already, lets not kid ourselves into feeling pity for blizz, it's not some indie developer that tries to incentivise someone to buy his game, this is pure "F U if you refuse to buy the epic edition". I don't even care about the advantages tbh, as i never go beyond 17 keys and don't mythic raid, it's the message they are sending that should make people worry.

Even with contracts (240k gold on my server btw), and grinding, there aren't enough WQs to get that high in the renown track. You'd have to farm chests and rares daily, and none of that is going to matter as of today. The ilvl gear I got aside from two pieces over the entire course of the early access is completely void once I do heroics today, and heroics today are also lower than heroics in September. I'm not defending paid early access, it's dog shit and shouldn't exist. The only positive is that the questing areas won't be as crowded for the people who didn't buy it. @@plagueburial There are, though. Anyone who missed out on Early Access lost ~2 full renown levels with every single faction (minus maybe Severed Threads since their WQs were disabled). The vast majority of rares give weekly rep, which you were able to get during Early Access, and most WQs reset around the same time on Tuesday. In theory, a non-EA player could level to max, kill every single rare, do every single weekly, do every single WQ, etc, all in the 16 hour period before Tuesday. But that's extremely impractical when EA players had 4 days to accomplish the same thing, and there are still multiple world quests that expired before the official launch.
As it stands, reaching the levels to obtain Champion gear before the raid releases will be extremely difficult. If it is possible, there is a good chance it is only doable with the extra rep from Early Access.

Contracts are pointless since they changed how renown works in this expansion. If you are trying to farm renown, then it's better to just level alts and do all the quests again... And the 597 piece only matters if the piece of gear is good for your spec. I have seen lots of vendor gear on my rogue that is trash. And don't quote on me this, but I think the current cap on renown is 15. That's what it seemed like when I was looking at the rep achievements...

Well, early access in combination with a ‘starting’ quest chain in old content, that has to be completed before beginning the new expansion, did seem to stagger players when they were able to get to the new content. This staggering did seem to help the servers, i had no issues with server stability when playing, unlike dragon flight. I couldnt even play new content at launch with dragonflight, and had to wait til the next day to play.

So I was already on the lowest tier in my thinking. I didn’t care. Then I was thinking, why don’t they just give everybody ALL the things that you would get from the highest tier? Some people just don’t care about mounts and pets. But, I did it anyways for early access. I think that’s where people’s minds go. I think in the grand scheme of things, there is so much sh-tuff to do, it just levels the playing field. It all comes down to raids and if I’m going to be able to group and get that drop I need. However, I think that players who have been around and support the game should be rewarded, going into a new expansion. But, I think you bring up fine points.

So really, since you're already buying the game and gametime, whats an extra $15 to get ahead. 4 days of early access cost you $3.70/day if you just bought the game and 1 month of game time together. $15 more dollars to get far ahead and max out what you can before all the people get into the game

First of all, global release people won't be able to level in war mode. Second, early access people will be able to jump straight into Heroics and get the better gear + vault while the rest will have to level and farm so they can do Heroics. And third, global release is MONDAY 1 AM, good luck doing all that at the start of a week when everyone is working. If they wanted that bullshit early access thing that much, it should be launched on a Tuesday and be strictly only questing for leveling, no professions, no renowns, no delv drops, no dungeon drops, main story and side quests only. Then they could do the global release on Friday so everyone can play, but i guess their crap servers can't do that.

As M0 is a source of Carved Harbinger Crest we will not have a source of Runed Harbinger Crest until Season 1 starts.
    Everyone item level, rich or poor, will be capped at 606. Veteran 8/8 or Champion 4/8;
And even if the crest cap doesn't allow to upgrade to 606. Those 4 item levels will be meaningless once Season 1 starts.

    • @Lonarra1

You and I have a very different idea of meaningless. Sure, 4 item levels on a singular piece of gear may not seem like much, but 4 item levels overall can actually be rather significant. If you're looking to clear AotC on week 1, that very well could mean the difference between getting or the kill or not. We have no way of knowing, and obviously it's better to be safe than sorry.
None of this changes the entire point of my video, which isn't that the advantage is EXTREMELY large, it's that there is an advantage PERIOD. Blizzard stated in multiple interviews that Early Access wouldn't provide any advantage. It doesn't matter if you're getting a 1 item level advantage or a 10 item level advantage, it wasn't supposed to exist in the first place. So, no, you're actually the person missing the point here.

You have a point when it comes to coffee keys even tho these are in theory infinitely farmable once you complete the delve season, you can only complete 4 bountiful delves per day. Mythic guilds have been talking about this for weeks since you can farm about 4 keys per week so it’s 12 keys without early access and now it’s 13 in early access this still means a really really small potential difference of 13 ilvls on ONE piece of gear. Also you can of course get gear in slots that already are 597 bountiful delve gear which is not that unlikely to get the same slot after 13 tries. This is specifically an issue for gearing pre raid and during the Heroic raid week. Stuff like this absolutely matters for people who push raid progress early on.

It's actually an advantage for them as everything will be cheaper by then

      This is insane mental gymnastics.

The unfair advantages are kinda meh for most but definitely hardcore grinders who only sleep 3 hours a night this weekend will have quite an edge.
The launch time in my timezone was exactly 00:00 at night so I could only play a few hours before a quick nap for work.
I still managed to make a small fortune with mat farming during the day (playing at work) but the economy is waving between both extremes of crazy because I sold about 20k of leathers during the day and bought about 2x that amount (late at night) back for 2k because I decided to try and grind leatherworking in the end.
