After reading your reaction in the comments I decided to fix a few things and publish the map in the Steam Workshop: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2063820758
I started out learning game development, and ended up sticking with modding CS:GO, and playing with Gary's Mod. I love Hammer Editor over editors such as Unreal, Unity, Cry etc. I wish the world could have access to source engine. Maybe one day I can eventually to afford to pay Valve, or Valve will commission one of my mods, but until then happy modding folks :)
I played a lot of C.S. when I was in highschool (before it was even GO). I was always terrible at it and still am 🙂 I’d be super keen to see you detail this up and make a series of it. I’d even love to join a game on this map. Even if we’d get smashed by bots
I did a lot like this myself in my youth. I was creating maps for Star Trek Elite Force II, and the map editor looked a lot like this one. I would very much like to see more of this. Keep up the great work!
I would say the other way around, if the ambition for this project is a competitive map (which it might not be) there is a bit too many narrow choke points where molotovs/smokes would be too powerful. That being said, things like that show themselves during play testing and can be adjusted. Overall it looks fun though, pretty classic layout of a CS-map with a clear middle, in my opinion it looks a bit to tight though.
I've been messing with SDK and documenting my fun little mistakes etc for a month or so and what I've made is pretty much just a little square lmao. This is so damn cool for a weekends work.
This is neat! Took me back to my days of map making and admittedly, now I want to go and get back into it 😆 You have a lot of great concepts here and your approach seems spot on. I look forward to more from you!
Looks good for a map made in such a short time. Also having a real playtest is always the best way to get feedback and its also fun :D. Some tips if you plan to finish this map: - keep fps high. Personally I cant stand maps which have bad fps (250+ fps is enough tho) - imo spawns are too close to actual "playing area" and because of that gameplay might be 2 fast. Mayby move them back a bit and create spawns like in de_nuke. - keep visibility clear - also keep skyboxes open for nades
Man, these placeholder textures remind me of the countless hours I spent playing gungame in Source as a teenager. I always liked the orange default texture maps. It would be cool to see you detail this map.
I think we're in a situation right now where people are famished for entertainment, so no matter what people think, I think that right now: any content is good content so if you want to try out something experimental: go for it!
Ha! I started playing CS again yesterday, as I got a bit bored with C:S due to the necessary fiddling with mods after update and patches. And now my favourite streamer is doing CS maps :) So, yes please, some CS map making content would definitely be most appreciated! And the map looks really promising to me. Might become the next Dust II? ;)
Funny how this shows up while I'm doing research on level design. Have been working with graphic and web design, and want to expand my knowlage into game design. Would love to watch you work on level design either in livestream format or edited and abbreviated YT video!
Very cool -I would suggest showing the entire process from adding textures and props through to playing the finished map. Do you do your own texturing? - I find that virtually doubles the build time if making your own.
Honestly, I think the only reason why I even attempted doing this is because of how basic Hammer is. If it was as complex as Blender or Maya I wouldn't even tried.
Nice! I remember trying to use the Duke Nukem 3D editor forever ago, I don't think I ever understood how to do anything but I did learn what a 2D sprite was. Fun times.
@@strictoaster back in those days it felt more like hacking the game or something lol. Good times. I am looking forward to seeing this map develop mate👍😁
Hey quick question. What light_environment settings did you use. I've been trying to get good lighting for a while but can't find any good settings, yours looks great. Please lmk
Suggestion: get in touch with WarOwl here on RUclips and see about a collab of some form. He might be willing to help organize a playtest with a wide variety of players, as well as giving his own suggestions for improvements.
I don't know anything about CS:GO, so yeah I'd be interested to see how far you can flesh it out. Kinda interested in what texture maps it supports right now, maybe I'll search later or you could always show me 😗 🙃 You have my vote, go for it.
hello, i'm speaking ispana, i have a problem, we are creators of cs go servers. At this moment we are creating small 1 vs 1 maps. The problem comes from wanting to paste the maps to create 12 arenas for 24 players. I am looking for the solution in the whole world and I can't get it, can you help me? God bless you and a big hug
been watching you for along time great to see some more of this type of content you should possibly consider checking out some other game engines that allow for simple level design i feel like you would be very good at this type of stuff keep up the great content. ruclips.net/video/hi7A6D0TDfQ/видео.html

DUDE. YES. I would love to see you map.
You could make some streets a bit more narrow

So cool to see you make maps in CS! I would love to see more videos about it!
I want to see it finished with textures
This looks so cool! Ofc a gameplay is of quite importance since what makes a good csgo map is its balance between the CT and T.

All good points, can't disagree.

I would probably not use custom textures or props. At least not until I can figure out whether or not the map is any fun to play.
Nice work, did some quake3 and doom maps back in the days and also cssource. I like these kind of editors but its soooo time consuming :)
Honestly, I think the only reason why I even attempted doing this is because of how basic Hammer is. If it was as complex as Blender or Maya I wouldn't even tried.

Informative stuff dude
This is great
This is criminally underrated
2:18 what is the name of the UX design tool? I couldn't undertand it!!! :(
As a guy with over 2k hrs in csgo I can say this map is pretty well made
As a guys with over 2k hours as well, i can say that this map from a competetive stand point is not playable at all
@@r3x754 way to be rude he isnt finished with it and also its a good map and he worked hard to make a map so cut him sum slack
