Once my creative director said to me "Use Gimbal of you run with camera to follow your object, don't use gimbal if you take stationary shots that require a specific hand movements"
yes but some of us do not even have a camera with IBIS and a smaller gimbal with smaller setup is better in that case. I would rather use sports mode or FPV mode for some handheld looking motion.
exactly!! Wasnt the original point of gimbals was because IBS wasnt readily available at consumer pricing for most youtubers and camera shake was a big issue not really a character thing unless thats what you wanted in your footage handheld movement.. I dont fully agree with this suggestion unless you mention the fact that you need good technique to avoid unwanted camera shake, non shaky hands, that you need a camera with IBS or OS/VR.. if u have all those things then sure
@@jacopoabbruscato9271definitely depends on the kind of ergonomics. if i want to handheld follow something down low, or im in a crowd and need to get over their heads, its easier to use a locked gimbal as a flexible tripod instead of crawling/crouching down or holding the camera above my head on tiptoes also when i was using a shitty camera, keeping the gimbal 90% stiff helped convey the feeling of handheld without unintelligible blur
it only works with camera with in body image stabilization and a lens with ois.. this doesnt apply on budget apsc with budget lens.. my sony a6000 with viltrox 35 and yn 50mm without gimbal footage will be unusable..
stop using gimbals because going handheld adds character is such a shallow thing to say. It all depends on what you’re shooting. It reminds me of when Paul Greengrass shot one of the Bourne movies handheld because it added to the feeling of the character being watched and feeling off balance…. Then everyone started doing it cause they thought it looked cool🙄
I agree with you, it all depends on what your shooting and for whom your shooting for, the client may not want shakey/ handheld camerawork and prefers the more stable look of a gimbal. It all depends on the what your trying to achieve and a smart videographer/ cinematographer will know when to use what for a particular shoot.
Love this. "It's a tool, not a rule" - Me Funny, I bought Ronin2 , stood in line for it, had to be the first, then I literally did not use it. Sat in the trunk of my car for the longest time while i shifted my way through my direction in life. Now I'm returning after another break to catch up on tech and reassess my lineup of equipment yadda yadda and this is the first video I've looked at regarding Ronin since 2020, here in 2024 and no surprise, the perspective is, I think i summed it up anyway, "its a tool, not a rule", though, is it serving you? How so? How can it add drama, accentuate a point, move fluidly, maybe back and forth between vibes in bringing the overall shoot to completion. What a great time to tell a story. All the outcomes I could only imagine before, can now be constructed and the tools needed can fit on my passenger seat. Processes that required cranes and 12 man teams can be done alone or easily with a drone and just 1 assistant.
but for apsc gimbal is a must man 😂😂😂 my apsc camera shakes alot unless 16 mm or less focal length and for that too if ur not doing much movemnet and doing still shots
I really need a gimbal so I can do film like movements with the camera.. like dolly in/out tracking shots etc etc yes you can do these handheld as well but it's very hard (in my case) I also tried gyroflow but it crops too much when your handheld footage is too shakey & bad thing about gyro stab is that you need to use high shutter for it to work properly.. which eliminates motion blur as well :(
This didn’t age well. Throw your gimbal on a tripod and throw it on a monopod. Change it to a gimboom, too many shots with it to put down. Shaky shots don’t mean character IMO
Many users of very expensive cameras don't use a gimbal because they are too lazy to carry so much weight, but then the whole footage looks very shaky, like from a smartphone, or cheap camera. In my opinion, the only thing that makes a video look high quality is a gimbal. Who wants some micro wobble all the time? It gives you a headache.
Noob question but I just got into videography (I’m a photographer)…do most gimbals have the option to mount the camera in portrait and landscape? I’ve only ever seen the latter and want to make sure before I buy one
Just saying, intentional shaky camera movements can make people sick. Not “ they don’t like it” sick, but literally motion sickness. Depends what you’re doing and style you’re going for. If your goal is that hand held look, yeah go for it.
Not everyone has skills shooting without a gimbal, I have mine but I barely use it because it's a pain in the ass! I mostly use my monopod and I found it way much more practical than gimbals, I recently purchased the DJI pocket 3 which does the job for quick detail shots rather than hooking up my 10LB on my regular gimbal which breaks my back, to those are commenting arrogantly, when were the damn gimbals? When videography existed decades ago.
I shot my first video today just holding my phone...it does the shake..shake ..shake. Well, you have to start somewhere even the gurus did...I'm just not there yet flashing all that fancy gear. Just not there...yet.
I love Gimbals so if you have never tried one before, you have to try it,they make these videos strictly to cause a confrontation to boost up there views and comments just like I’m doing lol all jokes aside try gimbal they’re awesome
What crap. It's not stop using gimbals or don't use gimbals. It's knowing when to do what. It's like saying Stop eating. I hate all these content creators who come up with all these fake catchy phrases to get your attention but they are just being misleading.
There are no new ideas. “Content creators” just change existing ideas to sound new and brave. Truth is, they are just trying to make a buck. Like everyone else. Lol
Stabilization on camera is terrible every clip is useless when you shot without a gimbal , and premiere stabilization is terrible cut half clip to stabilize, so you literally loss all quality, if sony dont put a seriously software stabilization, because the actual are terrible, also just for made normal clip like the iphone stabilization you can’t litteraly make a video without a gimbal
BS none of these hand held gimbals stop the up and down movement and onboard stabilization on the camera must be used, frame slowdown, so anyone who does not state these facts is lying and only shilling to sell these gimbals. Once again your camera must also have onboard stabilization or else you will have to stabilize your footage in some software package.
Dolly shots with a gimbal make the viewer feel like he's in a vehicle. If that's what you want, use the gimbal for that kind of shot. If you want the viewer to feel like they are following on foot, hand-hold the camera.
next hack will be "Stop not using a gimball"
I like how you’re talking to an audience that probably 75% at best don’t have a gimbal
Well when you finally get one, take your camera off and give that a try ;)
*like and subscribe.

Depends on a gymball, if it sucks thats true point
True
I didn't spend $820 for you, to tell me not to use it 💀
Facts....I was thinking about a project to work on....I opened my phone and bam! Your post and message was perfect timing for me.....thank you
If you want stable footage but your too broke and your hands are shaky, just use a chicken
😂😂😂😂oh my
😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Ahaha
😂😂😂
These are all very helpful. If I wasn’t broke I would buy a one wheel😂
Haha same! That's like the gimbal 2.0 😂
cries in a6000
Don't try this on a wedding shoot 😩
Stop drinking water BUT I am a big fan of water...I put it in my Kool aid

A better thing to say would be to lock the position of the motors so you still get the handheld look while maintaining the grip and functionality
The grip and ergonomics is arguably the worst thing about using a gimbal
@@jacopoabbruscato9271definitely depends on the kind of ergonomics. if i want to handheld follow something down low, or im in a crowd and need to get over their heads, its easier to use a locked gimbal as a flexible tripod instead of crawling/crouching down or holding the camera above my head on tiptoes

Story gas always veen number one. Its the effective use of tools that makes the story come to live.

Shallow? Ok 😂

Oh yeah?…well now it’s 2024 baby…and gimbals are back in style,…..YEAH!😎
Gimbal for movement shots only. What do you use? I'm looking to buy one. Thanks
It does have character, totally didn’t realize that until now
Nice work🎉
Both are great I agree!!!!

When i first starter i always was using it lol
I find that my handheld shots are pretty much unusable. At least you need camera or lens stabilization
You can always just lock your gimbal motors. Tap the power button once. Lock them, and boom you have handheld motion without any dismount.
Bought a gimble a few weeks ago cause of my newest short film, so nope, i'm using it 😂
but for apsc gimbal is a must man 😂😂😂 my apsc camera shakes alot unless 16 mm or less focal length and for that too if ur not doing much movemnet and doing still shots

Bro.. do what y’all want to do. Filming is an art and everyone has their own technique and flavor. Just be an artist and stand out!
This didn’t age well. Throw your gimbal on a tripod and throw it on a monopod. Change it to a gimboom, too many shots with it to put down. Shaky shots don’t mean character IMO
I disagree with you, gimbal adds that cinematic and smooth shot while handheld makes you not have that smoothness.
hey man whats the attachment you have for attaching a mic, i got a gimble but my mic is too heavy for it

Good luck brother
gimbal make smooth but both hand more real
I bought that thing and it’s too hard to use 😢

not all of them, only later ones, at least with regards to DJI's RS series
yes like this to but zhiyun crane 2 gimbal

Okay stop your using, give me it😂
I would assume this probably doesn’t apply to vlogging. Especially if you are walking and vlogging? Curious what your opinion is on it
I notice the shake in Hollywood movie scenes. You don't need a gimbal for everything.
I didn’t even know you had your own brand bro! I always see you on Parker profile.
This aged well
I can't stop why handle is worse thing I shot
I don’t have IBS on my camera or lens and everything looks like cancer 💀
Lol at somebody calling this a “hack”. Jesus Christ we have gone completely full circle, haven’t we?
Some people like myself have to us something like a gimbal. I have tremors. My hands shake all the time
rip ear
😵💫😵💫
my words...
Personal preference
Don't use a camera without image stabilisation.Use a ghimbal instead
The mechanical chicken
Gimbals have a hard time emulating something they were designed to prevent?
Hmm I wonder why that is? 😉
Still doesn't balance
Because “shaky cam” is so hip.
Not everything has to be cinema verite.
NOOOO ITS TOO MUCH FUN
you can't take it from me as long as i live...
Bro i am from India i want to buy gimbal but i have no money please give me one gimbal 😢
I shot my first video today just holding my phone...it does the shake..shake ..shake. Well, you have to start somewhere even the gurus did...I'm just not there yet flashing all that fancy gear. Just not there...yet.
I wish we can get a gimbal that's powerful as DJI RS 3 gimbal with the size of a DJI OM 3. xD
What about stabilization
Use a gimbal and tell good stories. They are not mutually exclusive.
I didn’t just spend all my money on a Gimbal to take it off and shoot handheld
My camera doesn’t have IBIS and my hands are shakey lol
With having a camera that has no in-body stabilization… I’m using the gimbal lol
Lol. I’m old school, unless you had access to a stedicam back in the day. You shot everything hand held.
When idiots run out of ideas

I hate shaky cam, gives me strokes
It's all about preference, correct? Ok bye!
TLDW: don’t use a gimbal, but I’m still going to use them
Someone’s never heard of a hook 🪝 (and also didn’t watch the whole video)
Why you dont want an iphone for movies
My lens isnt stabilized im definitely using a gimbal for vid
Don't use a spoon or fork when eating. You have hands. (Eastern wisdom) :)
💙
😂😂😂
next hack stop using cameras at all use memory and leter tell story to everyone
Stop using the word "HACK"... It's not, it's advice

I hate all that movement bro. Stabilize that shih.

Use tripod

Wow , just use camera shake plugin to make a handheld look instead of fighting rolling shutter caused by handhelding..
Next stop using camera duhhhj
No.
