I just came here to say keep doing what you doing man. I'm searching how to make my DIY screen for projector without spending thousands of money. And on the way I've seen so many crazy expensive setups. But yours is the best because you just want to play golf and you do it, without need of high end.
Thank you. I am definitely trying to help people save money from learning from my experimenting and trying to get the best setup while very budget friendly. When I tell people that with the knowledge I have now, I could build my same simulator with everything you need for under $4,000, including my new higher end projector, they are very surprised.
@upthecreekyt yes this style of bed sheet is what I have been using for years now. I tore everything else. Even painters drop cloth. This mainstays bed sheet holds up the best, only ripping when I use a really scuffed up ball that spins and tears into it. Otherwise, takes thousands of shots
I'm in Scotland so cannot order from Walmart, do you reckon the strength is related to thread count or just something particular about the Walmart Mainstay brand?
I find that the thread count is about as truthful as lumens on cheap Amazon projects. I've used claimed higher thread count and ball blasts right through. I think the mainstay one is claimed 300, so try a 300 count. You can find see if that works. Some people have also had luck with photographer backdrops or Home Depot painters' drop cloth. Every painter drop cloth I have to use, I have blown right through, though
Awesome. The strongest bed sheet I have found so far is the Walmart main stays king flat sheet. I have tried a few other brands, and they rip very easily. I'd like to try an oversized cal king sheet as I want to upgrade my projector and fill the entire area, but I have not found one that will hold up as well as the mainstay king size
@@igolfandimakestuff2629 Do you know if cotton or microfiber would be more durable? I need to get an oversized king for my setup and not a lot of options.
Aoneky Golf Sports Practice Barrier Net, Golf Ball Hitting Netting, Golf High Impact Net, Heavey Duty Golf Containment Net, 10 x 10 Ft / 10 x 15 Ft / 10 x 20 Ft / 15 x 15 Ft a.co/d/haBhMG3
It's an auto hotkey. Basicly, when my computer turns on, it starts looking for a program to start running in this case TGC interface. So because input TGC interface in my windows start up folder that opens up when the computer comes on. Once the autohotkey file i wrote sees that it waits a few seconds than clicks on the specific part of the screen i set waits another 40 seconds for the skytrak to connect clicks on the play game button waits another 30 seconds or so and hits enter I plan on doing a full in-depth video when I automate the entire thing like screen up and down lights on computer on all with the alexa on my watch. I'm going to be able to tell my smart watch I want to golf or I want to putt or I want to work in my shop. So that will set off a series of If than statements putting my building in that specific configuration. It's going to be awesome
Not really any reason to. The projector would probably look like hot garbage going through the black net. And the lag from when you hit your ball to when to computer sends it the sheet is back to perfectly straight. The sheets Easley take 5,000 or more high speed hits before the rip.
Never tried that brand, but I went through a lot of different drop cloths/bed sheets/ other things, and they all failed right away. This mainstays one is the only one that has held up long-term to extreme abuse. With 14 people playing league every week/ thousand of practice shots from everyone that uses the sim a month.

Did you end up going this route? I tried the painters drop cloth. 20 driver shots later and it's torn, which I should've expected.

Thanks for the inspiration!
Nice set up!
Thank you appreciate it

About to make a very similar setup. 20x20 net in a L shape with a sheet. the projector screens are to loud when you hit. Good job and cheers!

I thought about this cool to see it works
Any updates with better sheets than the mainstays? Or other equipment
I do have a 3 year update to this video. But honestly, I have not found anything. At least any bed sheets that hold up as well.
@@igolfandimakestuff2629thanks will check it out. Can you link the bed sheet? There seems to be multiple versions
Do you know what the specific sheet is? They seem to have mainstay microfiber or jersey
Mainstays 300 thread count Cotton blend flat sheet easy care.

Great video! What projector do you use?
That was my old projector it was some random no-name brand $185 one from Amazon. Right now I just replaced it this year with the optima GT2100HDR
What net are you using

What is the brand of netting you have behind your sheet

You said you programmed it, can you elaborate more?! Curious and interested

Here is the automation: I am going to add a net raising soon and do a full video in the future

Have you tried putting the sheet behind the net?

A cloth painters drop cloth from Home Depot is much better.
