This is the haunting title song from the 1954 Nicholas Ray western, written and performed by Peggy Lee. The film itself is known as a "kinky" Western in which two women have it out rather than the conventional cowboy shootout. Mercedes McCambridge's character wants Joan Crawford's saloon owner run out of town or better yet, executed. Sterling Hayden plays the title character, a drifter who wanders into town and finds himself in the middle of their feud.. I saw it years ago and liked it, but I have to admit I just love the song the most. So here is Miss Peggy Lee singing it again! Enjoy!

I am not making a comment on this movie,because I am a great fan of Joan Crawford,but it is definitely one of d best western ever made.Joan Crawford was superb as usual and Sterling Hayden great in his role!

The film was way ahead of its time. Even though Sterling Hayden claimed that he did not get it, I am sure he was proud of it but for his tough guy image .

@Tol1as thats the good thing about video games, they help revive old music that is no longer present in our pop culture, I would have never have stumbled upon this song if it werent for fallout

I have a copy of Peggy Lee's songs on CD which includes "Johnny Guitar". Can anyone tell me who did the guitar solo on that? Victor Young and His Singing Strings are given credit but I can't find mention of the solo artist. Thanks for the help.
