  • Well, the 14 foot selfie stick is a little too shaky. I will fix that and post a less shaky camera flight. I hope that you can start to see what my weekly 15 minute "Lazair fix" is about. Silent flying is something I would love to experience; as well as the absence of vibration.

    The E-Lazair is a masterpiece. This video is proof. 40 years and it flies amazingly. I would love if you added a narration. More videos please. Thanks Dale.

    Do you have enough rudder to compensate a failure in one motor during the flight?

    I think I’ve watched every ‘ultralight on floats’ video on YT over the years and this might be the best one ever. A dream setup with an amazing plane. Is it at all feasible for a 2 seater? 6 motors? 😬

    • @DaleCKramer
      @DaleCKramer  Год назад +1

      Theoretically yes but I would start worrying about the wings drag spar strength with the extra outboard thrust etc, you would be on your own .....

      Sorry, I have been working on a inflatable set of floats for emergency water landings and always takeoff on wheels. This way I have lower drag for better soaring yet can still fly safely 'low' over water. However I have been 'redirected' to other projects recently. Hopefully before summer...

    I believe the processing of the video locks the image to the horizon which results in the excessive apparent bouncing around of the aircraft on the water and in flight. There may be a setting in your software to turn this off. It may not be the fault of the selfie stick.

    • @DaleCKramer
      @DaleCKramer  Год назад +1

      Jim, there is no setting for horizon lock in the Memode I was shooting at. There is good built in stabilization but it just can't handle those large harmonic swings. I have stabilized the the front selfie with cable bracing that won't be FOD for propellers if they fail (and shortened selfie to about 8 ft) but I have not flown it yet. In the meantime I have mounted a rigid upper rear tail boom 6 ft selfie that takes an amazing perspective shot which I like better than the front perspective and I have flown with it. Dale, I really would like to build a Lazair, what resources are there out there? Do you still own the drawings?

    • @DaleCKramer
      @DaleCKramer  6 месяцев назад

      I have hundreds of original drawings but there are still hundreds missing. I have drawn a very detailed 3D CAD file of the eLazair4 (hundreds of MB) but not sufficient to be used as plans without access to a Lazair Series III or the like to take that nebulous leap that creates a set of plans. Also, I have just posted a SimScale CFD project that has a downloadable 3D CAD sufficient to get all the basic dimensions and shapes from at www.simscale.com/forum/t/elazair4-cfd-analysis-simulation-project-by-dalekramer/97920

      This is one of the most iconic ultralights of the era or even all time. I know there were some rumours of someone other than you resurrecting it as a series IV, but it seems that hasn’t panned out. I have some CAD skills, I’d love to help you finish a set of plans, free of charge.

    A beautiful experiment in catching your aircraft on a camera. I was wondering about stabilising the pole forward, but likely you must maintain sense regarding additional supports remaining attached to aircraft during their failure likely become FOD to your props. The refinement of the Lazair wing is the thing that catches my eye, so I wonder up mounting the camera on the pole high above the wing, with lines from wingtips and tail to stabilise. The camera is intended to look down on the entire aircraft, but hey with these 360-cams, the direction that the camera faces is less of an issue. The idea being that you get a solid, repeatable, single perspective that is perhaps transferable between any Lazair you care to attach it to, that then supports one-point-perpective for editing. ruclips.net/video/N2yqw7qGrgU/видео.html
