  • Today we are going to take a first look at a ultra budget fishing reel called The Exbert. Good explanation on how to replace the bearings 👌🏼
    The fact that you can get a reel that actually works for less amount I spend on a pair of handle knobs keeps amazing me. Good job finding bargains, testing them and sharing them with others 👏🏼

    Very interesting that younknew what to change to make it perform a bit better, seems the maker would have done that to start, but great job explaining exactly what you changed and it seemed to work well. For a reel under $30, you can't complain at all. Great job

      Hi Larry, I suspect the brakes were too strong because it makes have originally been designed for heavier lures and the just changed to a shallow spool to cater for the trending BFS audience without making modifications to the brakes.

    You beat me to it bro. I just ordered this thing. I'm going try to burn this thing up on some tanks. I will remove two magnets right off the bat. I will leave stock bearings for testing. Tight lines Bro.

      Nice, yea I posted the unboxing 9 days ago so I had to do the testing asap in case the price went up or something crazy.

      @@yep.fishing I don't think our channels can change prices but it's nice to think so. Do you think this is same reel as castfanatic? It kinda looks like it. What is the spool weight on it?

    • @yep.fishing
      @yep.fishing  2 месяца назад

      I don’t believe so, maybe it’s just the heavily ported spool that makes it seem that way. I’ll have to strip the line off it and give it a weigh tonight

    I just got this thing . wow I had to take out 5 magnets just to throw. Its just really bad. Sounds like a baby rattle. can't believe I bought this thing. On second thought I can believe it as I'm a Tackle Junky. Buy a doviello or micro monster for 20$ more and you will be much better off. I give you a shout out in future vid. Tightlines my Friend down under.😁

      Maybe you got a bad one or something? I just took 2 magnets out and apart from the stock handle which is trash I like it. At the current prices this is half the price of the Acura, Acura has gone up

    Usually cheap reel crap themselves at under 3 grams so not a bad reel after all! But you really need to throw under 1 gram to be a "exbert" 😂

    • @yep.fishing
      @yep.fishing  2 месяца назад +1

      Maybe I should put in effort to do that so I can be part of the 1g family. I did try once with the silver feather and caster ok. But I don’t have a good sub 1 gram rod anymore

    • @yankeelipperfishing
      @yankeelipperfishing 2 месяца назад +1

      @@yep.fishingNo you should not. Fishing 1g is for sissies that can't catch big fish. (" I sucK so I'll just show that I can throw a 1g lure 10 ft. or 3 meters and catch bait sized fish.) Its just not practical for anything. I have tackle that can do it. I just don't. Spinning rods do it better and that's the fact. I love Bfs but let's be real. A true EXBERT. 😂

    • @yep.fishing
      @yep.fishing  2 месяца назад +1

      I’d say that big trout could take 1g lures. Also there are people that fish for micros just to kill time

      My mate caught a 5lb LMB on a .56g lure. Elephants eat peanuts sometimes!

    • @yankeelipperfishing
      @yankeelipperfishing 2 месяца назад

      @@yep.fishing That is true but not the norm. I caught a lot more 5lbers on 3/4 oz. jigs. And I know what a real 5lber is not the make believe BFS 5 lbers. Thought you guys used grams. LOL 😂
