I have to comment just how professional you were, in doing such a great job, and educating thousands of people who will not be scared to tackle a job like this! Greetings from Australia.
I did find this video helpful with some of the details of the Nissan 2003 X-Trail Timing and Balancer Chain replacement, but, there are a lot of disassembly steps not included. I had to remove, in the order given below, to be able to change the chains: 1- Alternator, 2- Coolant bottle, 3 Left hand Engine Mount (Left hand looking towards rear of the car), 4 Left hand Engine Mount Bracket on Engine end (but you can't get this out until you have removed the Crankshaft Pulley first, 5-Drive belt Tensioner Pulley, 6- Loosen Steering Pump and move to side on one bolt 7- Of course the Drive belt also To remove the Lower Engine Skirt, first remove 8- Front Exhaust Section, 9- Lower Engine mount and Engine Under Frame Member, then you can "Off the Engine Skirt", and "Off the Timing Cover", all in all, a 3 day job. But it worked, and the engine is running quietly again, maybe good for another 300,000 km. It does look like a well-made engine.
Thx for the Details in your Video, tomorrow i will do it to my xtrail after 133.000km run. I'll write you again if my ixi is runnig again. Thank you and have a great time by doing sutch Detail video's...
@@marvinvickers4806 The engine Is running very good, but now the gaspump under the backseat don't work, next searching for parts and work on the car... Thx
Great job brother I also like doing my own work in the garage. Once done good for another 250 thou KLM saved $1200 in labour who cares if it takes weekend satisfaction!!!👍
great video, at what KM should you get the timing chain replaced? Or typically what mileage should it be replaced? I'm buying a 2008-2009 model 2.0 diesel and can't see much online Nissan say 300,000 KM but I'm guessing around the 220-250K KM mark?
I have a unit Nissan extrail QR20 engine.job overhauling.. right now..but that.timing chain. Is not marking yellow 🟡... Maybe i dicide replacement part...i need your opinion... good evening sir..
Is thera way to put back ascentric gear for the oilpump cover on Nissan Qr 25 engine or do i need to take off the cover again...looks like i made a big mistake and have to take off the mounting bracket the is a pain in the ass
Hello, I have Nissan Xtrail T30 with the following problem. Start the engine when it is cold. Drive some time until the engine reach temperature and become warm. Turn off the engine and try to start it. The engine does not start. After waiting about 2 hours, the engine starts. We checked for faults, the gas injection, all sensors etc and cannot find the reason. Do you think the defect may be in the timing chain? It is not original and the distance passed is 50000 km.
I thought the problem is CKP sensor circuit? Your given concern is different from what you are fixing. The problem you are fixing is mouse and misfire apparently.
he is demonstrating through crank sensor adjusment what would happen if the timing chain is stretched and caused the cranck shaft position to advance one notch and affecting the engine and hence the apparent sensor problem. which means the problem is not the sensor but the timing chain has stretched. he is right. in a way he is solving both the sensor and timing chain 'problem' in one go! genius.
I was about to say the same thing.. They definitely did not get the balancer timing correct, only the mark. if you flip the small chain around, then you will notice it will line up with the timing mark for the balancer, and the mark is very visible.
All good when half the engine is already out and you don t mention bottom cross bar has to be taken off and other engine mount has to come off not happy......

A great video! Very informative. Many thanks for doing this. 👍👍👍
Thanks
Excellent video, thanks
Torque specs? For all the nuts how did u figure that out or was it tighten best u can with hand
So the chain already jumped on gear and even did create a bunch of metal chavings, yet the engine is still running afterwards? I like this.

Ooh my god,thanks very much
What is the name of that electric tool that he can tighten the bolts? Please I wanna buy one too
I just move intake camshaft 1 tooth backward and it's solved the problem.
Thank you sir...i ask you about timing chain later.

Rtv bond sealant too much. Falling inside engine. Will mix in oil and get stuck in oil lines.
I notice you removed the exhaust in order to get into swamp part oil did you remove the frame where the engine mount sit also??
No need to remove frame just exhaust front part only
Did you have to use any special tools to get this done and how long did it take?
No Any special tool
8 hours
But I'm not sure if you have powered engine oil but otherwise good job done
Balance axel timing mark was not in right position, it's the lowest round axel on low left?

First change crank and cam angle sensor
If not go to timing chain
Cold start timing chain ⛓️ not stretch getting worm it stretched
I had the same problem. It was the Cam Angle Sensor. Remember to replace both the Crank / Cam Angle Sensor together as new.
In our case, it was the FlowMeter
Very nice done, thank you 🙂
How can I replace oil pump
Upper plastic chain tension maintainer removed at 4.10 and put at 16.40 with the wrong site in
Nice video. I have same problem 😀
:D I saw self welded flywheel at ~ 3:20
the sound still very rough
12:18 the balancer timing is wrong here.
You missed the balancer mark on the balancer, if you flip the chain around then it will be corrected.
Should use gaskets over goop, just makes more work next time around cleaning all the crap off.
