This is FIRE!!!! Most inventive rendition of Take 5 since Al Jarreau over 50 years ago. You all truly Africanized this standard, how do I download your music???
Tito puente did it in 4 so that it fit clave. I dont see why it's bad that Africans do it in 6 so it fits their rythmic sensibilities. It's a great rendition
The original Take Five was the signature tune of a beloved childhood programme, "English By Radio" on Radio Nigeria. I was mesmerised by the drum/ percussion solo when a session couldn't air and the full cut was played. I've been beholden to that tune ever since. Dave Brubeck will be mighty proud of these guys...
Wonderful cover of a classic! I live in Ohio, USA and I am so very glad that I found this video. Thank you all! You did a great job with this number. Much love and respect to you all.

Holy God! You guys are from Outer-Space? What is that perforated crash symbal called? The bassist and the drummer did a good job by paving a secure road for other instruments to solo on without getting lost during their journey.
Lots of people calling this 6/8, but this is a slow 3/4 to my ear. It's very common to hear 3/4 in this way in South Africa, two strong beats and a backbeat.
@@BillBenzon I understand what you mean, and it's definitely interesting to see it that way. Efrain Toro plays it in 5 and 7 at the same time. The point is though, you can count anything in any time signature. But they do have a strong 3/4 in this version
@@timonoosthuizen3614 A big "yes" to your last comment. In the case of salsa (Puente) I've long thought it is a mistake to notate the music in 4. You can do that, but the clave is really the foundation and notating it in 4 is just an alien superimposition. The idea every musical pulse/groove can/should be understood in terms of isochronic beats seem to me misleading.

I have no idea how the RUclips algorithm chose this for me to see but all I can say is Thank You !
Same. Out of nowhere! But this is a bop.
Same here! This is wonderful.
I really don't care that it's not in 5/4. Brubeck already did 5/4. This is kinda funky, fresh and an optimal take on the classic. I like it.
Music moves forward. Bravo🎉
you can build anything on that bass's foundation! 💓
I like how it's in 6 but you kept the feel of the 5/4 clave (accenting beats one and five)
I love the original. This cover is EXCELLENT!
