Jumbo, I just wanted to take a second to say that I really appreciate your videos when you upload them, no matter the level of jank included in the deck or the subject matter of the video. Your enthusiastic personality as you explain these deck techs is one of a kind and can really brighten up a day. Rock on man, keep on brewing!
Definitely gonna take a look at this general! I wanted to make a Thelon of Havenwood for a long time now, Slimefoot will be awesome! Got in contact with your channel via Command Zone and I'm really glad to hear your vision on deck techs! Keep the nice job!
Hi DJ! Love the channel and I was so happy to see you on the Command Zone! Love your deck techs, especially your budget ones. Keep it up, you're a starter EDH player's (me!) miracle worker! Much love from Malaysia!
Krosan grip, split second instant spell ends the life and limb/sporemound combo. So you don't have to combo and can set a designated amount of creatures/lands.
Sure bracers is great but I feel like you should add basult monolith and rings of brighthear these will make you a billion mana you can then you use to make a billion saps and even if you can’t assemble that combo rings makes slimefoots ability cost 2 less making it way more efficient and because of double masters and commander legends these cards are pretty cheap
Really love the toolbox feel of the thallids. I've been trying for years to make a similar thing with Graft and Experiment Kraj, to regerttably little success^^
This was my main build around for the new set! Great job showing off how awesome this 3 drop uncommon is!!! I hope to get my hands on one this weekend!
I was ordering pieces for this deck today wondering when you were gonna make a video about it! I'm including an infect/proliferate sub-theme in my version as it ties in with spore counters, +1/+1 counters and the -1/-1 counters support we saw in Ahmonkhet. Don't eat the poison shrooms!
I've been playing Saps at my local FNM (Standard) and thinking about building Saps for other formats. After watching this video, I'm absolutely building a Commander deck around Slimefoot!
there are actually quite a few saproling lords. tendershoot dryad; sporecrown thalid; nemata, the grove guardian; verdaloth, the ancient; thelonite hermit; and palid mycoderm.
Oh man I am hyped as fuck to put this together. Creature-sacrifice themed decks are some of my favorite decks, as are token-themed decks. Also, functional burn in commander is great. This puts all of that together? Damn! This will probably surpass my Omnath Locus of Rage deck that essentially works the same way, but I feel this will be more efficient. EDIT: Also, Slimefoot deals damage, as opposed to causing life loss, so it would be super easy to implement an infect strategy here.
I know I’m going to get a lot of hate, but Slimefoot is looking like the strongest commander for saproling tribal. It gives you both the combo potential of thrasios and the lethality of a blood artist. People make decks around these two mechanics of dumping infinite colorless mana and infinitely sac’ing creatures. Amazing video again DJ!
I have a very similar Thelon of Havenwood deck (soon to be a Slimefoot deck) and Coat of Arms and Obelisk of Urd are so amazing when you start going wide. Yes Coat of Arms helps your opponents if they're tribal but your token strategy easily overwhelms your opponents with a wall of saprolings.
I LOVE token strategies. I love my green white modern token deck and it’s awesome, but this Video helps A TON. I was thinking of a Black Green Saprolings Deck, and a commander Deck for Slimefoot! Thank you SO MUCH But what’s crazy- second harvest on an anointed procession AND parallel lives on the field, already assuming I have like 20 Saproling on the field... then Emrakul’s Evangel, making the 1/1s into 3/2s, twice as many, then four times as many.. ooof. Game winners right there.
Just wanted to add a small suggestion, Rot Shambler is fantastic in a Slimefoot deck. It benefits from the sacrifice plan if it stays on board, and it's also a fungus so if you have Sporoloth Ancient and Sporesower Thallid it also becomes a Saproling producer. Also Winding Constrictor can be a good card if you can't afford Doubling Season, since it will also double the Spore Counters, just not the token creation.
I've thought about building a Saproling deck and I do like Slimefoot, but I'd probably go with Tana, the Bloodsower and Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper. Slimefoot would of course go into the deck though.
Winding Constrictor is a good budget option for this deck if you want to increase the amount of spore counters your thallids are producing. I used it in my Ghave deck along with Corpsejack Menace.
Saproling Symbiosis is about the same price as Primal vigor... Also, Sheoldred, Whispering One would be a really good idea for this deck. Yeah it's Golgari so there's a decent way to get recursion but with all the ramp saprolings provide via cryptolith rites, altars, and mycon it wouldn't be so hard to get it out there. On top of that the ability forces everyone to sac a creature so it's a pseudo gravepact while also bringing back that creature that got board wiped a few turns ago.
My current saproling tribal deck has Mr Ghave as commander, but I will certainly include this card and some more from dominaria. So much good stuff! Also, I do have the sporemound combo, but didn't know about it. I just used the cards together because the seemed to be synergistic... They are indeed.
Came here for some ideas to add to my Gahiji saproling deck (The Honored Fungus Among Us). Left with an idea on Saproling creation/sac Jund deck. Basically smashing my token and Alesha decks together. Probably... Tana and Reyhan as commanders? Stalking Vengeance with a sac outlet will help stop the Sporemound combo, and would be put in this deck regardless, Warstorm Surge or Impact Tremors will also work nicely, and Oran-rief will make Reyhan actually function a bit better.
Love the deck tech, thanks man! Have you looked into Possessed Portal at all? You have a lot of mana producers and Mycoloth, just sac a few saproling tokens to Ashnods Altar and stick a Mycoloth at 4 counters to watch the gamestate get anemic. Works in my Meren Stax deck.
I thought of this deck as soon as I saw the Fungus lord printed in Dominaria. I started playing magic back with Time Spiral, so some of my first cards were Funghi that made Saprolings, obviously a huge nostalgia factor. I think I'd make Thelon of Havenwood the commander personally, focus a bit more on Fungus tribal with Saprolings on the side and add some proliferate to crank up the spores, but that's my personal note. It still ends up as the same strategy though, making tokens and then aristocrats-ing the fuck out of them
Ive never really been a green player, except for when i played merfolk. Ive usually been a UB player since i started. But I got into red for goblins in commander and pauper. But im all about the saprolings lol. I have it as a standard/brawl deck. Commander saprolings are definitely on my short list
Life and Limb has so many fun combos. It makes all of your saprolings trigger landfall for example. Caustic Crawler can wreck boards, Embodiment of Insight can make the saprolings into 3/3 Elementals with haste until end of turn, Grazing Gladeheart, Retreat to Kazandu, and Jaddi Offshoot will gain you disgusting amounts of life, Guul Draz Overseer pumps your team, Lotus Cobra gives you a mana of any color, Ob Nixilis the Fallen drains opponents and gets huge (which means he'll kill your opponents during the Sporemound combo), Rampaging Baloths gives you a 4/4 beast, Retreat to Hagra drains opponents, Scrib Nibblers mills your opponents out, and a bunch of stuff that just gets bigger. Oh, and it makes Sylvan Advocate into a Saproling lord.
Oh yeah, Life and Limb is a disgusting card if you use it certain ways. Remember that it's a symmetrical effect, so it turns all of your opponents' Forests into 1/1 creatures that can be killed in mass with cards like Languish. No one else is playing green? Play Deepwood Elder and turn problematic lands into Forests until end of turn then wipe them. Pestilence is a good on-board effect for wiping unbuffed saprolings for a single mana. And all that is repeatable.
Life and limb also means you can be blown out by a wrath. Dunno why you would ever play it unless you're winning that turn. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to risky.
Tony Smith Yeah, I only ever play it if I'm winning that turn, have a way to make my creatures indestructible, or comboing to turn my opponents' lands into Forests and then wipe them myself.
Play him in a ghave guru if spores or a thelion of havenwood fungi deck you can play muraganda petroglyphs to boost the saprolings in green then there are couple anthem effects in in white that pump token creatures Also theres proliferation and doubling season if you spalsh blue you could run paradox haze and proliferate from inexorable tide amd over clock to spore counter mechanic could be amazimg in the 99 or as a commander
Not sure if this has been said but you can exile a token as it enters the graveyard for the stuff that says exile a creature in graveyard to do x. Unless my understanding of the rule is skewed which is very possible
Another dech tech as promised! Night soil is another one of those create saprolings on the cheap. Can't go wrong with coat of arms.... since we're gaining life... exquisite blood-sanguine bond? If we're not shying away with combos i see no problem here lol I'm interested on your Riff Capashen take
As great as slimefoot is, ghave is a bit more flexible. The option of having white makes it easier because you can also annointed procession, giving you another token doubler along with enchantment tutoring. But with this set introducing a new legendary creature for saprolings, I might just build the ghave deck.
I have a thallid deck that rolls 3 doubling seasons, 2 copy enchantments, and 2 follow footsteps. It is nasty. I follow footsteps a sporesower which multiplies the number of tokens put on thallids each turn and puts out a 4/4 every round as well. My favorite is to watch as I use the thallids to create a feeback combo of draw cards, get mana, play my whole deck, and then give them all haste, followed by creating an absurd number of saprolings and healing up to 999999 and wiping their board with -1/-1. the utilities of these guys makes them hard to predict unless you go hard control.
Oh my goodness! I didn't even think of that last infinite combo! That's hilarious! Hey do you plan to make a deck tech for Raff Capashen? I would love to see a deck tech for him, and It's a very control like commander, so I figured you'd like it.
Jumbo Commander Awesome! Yeah that makes sense. He does seem like a commander that needs a lot of tuning! Which Dominaria commander are you most interested in?
I'm currently building this deck :) i only need about 30 cards to go! i might sub in a few different cards or just have them available might add poison tip archer and vindictive vampire for that sweet life drain and gain and possibly wilderness reclamation
Hey Jumbo would you PLEASE PLEASE do a big mama Radha deck tech? My friend is so excited to build her and has a pretty explosive fast list but not much resiliency, we're hoping someone more versed in deck builds would make a video on her for us to get inspiration and maybe see other paths of play than just "tokens real fast" but help would be appreciated! I haven't been able to find a deck tech video yet
I'm really trying make a Raff Capashen deck but I could use some help. Trying to basically play any relevant legendary, not just artifacts. Flashing in planeswalkers, artifacts, legend enchantment and sorcery, the options seem very open
My comment from above. I should have just posted to reply to you originally. Just use Prossh instead of my thoughts: Came here for some ideas to add to my Gahiji saproling deck (The Honored Fungus Among Us).
You forgot the simple aggro style win. You do not need to combo, you can just attack and destroy your foe. If you have the 3 lords, those Saprolings are all 4/4s.... Add in an Akroma's Memorial and you have haste, vigilance, flying etc saprolings.... Or slap down an Eldrazi Monument and you can swing with indestructible fliers..... Don't forget the Oran Reif to give the saprolings that come in every turn +1... Or +3 if you have doubling season/primal vigor.
Fantastic video, cannot wait to run my Slimefoot Tribal deck! Don't forget our fungal bretheren in Fallen Empires, as well! (OH THE JANK!😉) Keep up that dynamic energy you bring to your videos and the game we love, good sir! Are you going to be at GP Vegas still?
I still believe it will be Ghave, with slimefoot in the deck. It will be much better in the long run. Slimefoot doesnt make the cut for such a slow arcehtype.
Agreed, unless the rest of the deck is control and tutors to get the Altar and Season/Parallel Lives as fast as possible and combo out while everyone is still building their boards.
I’m not good enough to know that for sure personally but I’m still sticking Ghave with Slimefoot in it and not just Slimefoot because Ghave gives more Fungi and Saproling cards.
Slimefoot was THE card I wanted to build around from Dominaria way back when most of the set leaked. Thank you for making this!
Thank you, DJ! Appreciate your good vibes and attention to FUN in your deck techs. You're a gift to MTG content creation :D
Jumbo, I just wanted to take a second to say that I really appreciate your videos when you upload them, no matter the level of jank included in the deck or the subject matter of the video. Got in contact with your channel via Command Zone and I'm really glad to hear your vision on deck techs! Keep the nice job!
15-something years ago, Saprolings were my first real deck. So excited to see these little mushroom men coming back.
Hi DJ! Love the channel and I was so happy to see you on the Command Zone! Love your deck techs, especially your budget ones. Keep it up, you're a starter EDH player's (me!) miracle worker! Much love from Malaysia!
I run a ghave fungus tribe deck witch is my favorite . I'm really glad to see them bring back my favorite creature type
Slimefoot will slot right into Ghave
i'm playing a similar deck but with Ghave, Guru of Spores as a commander :)
Krosan grip, split second instant spell ends the life and limb/sporemound combo. So you don't have to combo and can set a designated amount of creatures/lands.
Illusionist Bracers can also be used in place of a doubler to go infinite with Ashnods Altar
Plaguemaw Beast could speed up your spore poopers with a proliferate every turn... anywho, love this deck, great work Jumbo!
Really love the toolbox feel of the thallids. I've been trying for years to make a similar thing with Graft and Experiment Kraj, to regerttably little success^^
there are several ways to build saprolings. you could play aristocrat slimefoot, fungus counter atraxa, or aggro rith, the awakener.
This was my main build around for the new set! Great job showing off how awesome this 3 drop uncommon is!!! I hope to get my hands on one this weekend!
I was ordering pieces for this deck today wondering when you were gonna make a video about it!

Slimefoot looks like a fun-guy! Will definitely look into making a deck like this!
I was brainstorming Slimefoot yesterday and came up with an incredibly similar aristocrats list, I love it! Can't wait to fill the board with spores 👌
I've been watching your videos for a while but this one was so cool and creative that it even reminded me to subscribe!
I run Nemata in paper. And it's a great feeling swinging 12 1/1 saprolings. They block 5, well suddenly they have 7 6/6 coming in for the win!
DJ, you have officially made me want to make me play commander. Thank you so much!
I came out with this deck as soon as Slimefoot was released. I wanted to keep this guy's self sac engines a secret!
You respected the Life from Limb. This makes me happy.
Awesome video mate, looks like a really fun deck! Can't wait to see your Muldrotha video if you're making one lol
Thanks jumbo for makeing this, i asked and you deliverd perfectly, thanks soooo much!
I LOVE token strategies. I love my green white modern token deck and it’s awesome, but this Video helps A TON. I was thinking of a Black Green Saprolings Deck, and a commander Deck for Slimefoot! Thank you SO MUCH

The equip that doubles activated abilities out of ravnica and heart stone also get you more for less.
Thanks for the deck tech, super excited to make this edh deck when dominaria comes out!
I have super been looking forward to this. I like it as a member the 99 in plant tribal.
Just wanted to add a small suggestion, Rot Shambler is fantastic in a Slimefoot deck. Good stuff. There could be a counters subtheme that would be really fun.
I thoroughly enjoy this deck tech :)!!!
That commander is really looking interesting. So hyped for it!
I was building this deck as soon as i saw saproling tribal commander
Saproling Symbiosis is about the same price as Primal vigor... Also, Sheoldred, Whispering One would be a really good idea for this deck. Yeah it's Golgari so there's a decent way to get recursion but with all the ramp saprolings provide via cryptolith rites, altars, and mycon it wouldn't be so hard to get it out there. On top of that the ability forces everyone to sac a creature so it's a pseudo gravepact while also bringing back that creature that got board wiped a few turns ago.
Omg the combos keep getting better! Infinite saporling combo lmao.
The game ends in a draw as we are both smothered by infinite saprolings ... sounds like a good end to a commander game :)
Thank god, I've been waiting for a fungus deck that aristocrats out and an angel deck that does shenanigans
My current saproling tribal deck has Mr Ghave as commander, but I will certainly include this card and some more from dominaria. So much good stuff!
Also, I do have the sporemound combo, but didn't know about it. I just used the cards together because the seemed to be synergistic... They are indeed.
Ghave + ashnods + Cathar's crusade. Endless mana
I did it and I'm lovin it
I'm sorry I don't understand which ways to stop the sporemound combo. Something about sacrificing?
Came here for some ideas to add to my Gahiji saproling deck (The Honored Fungus Among Us). Left with an idea on Saproling creation/sac Jund deck. I can't wait to make a Slimefoot EDH, soooooo excited!!!
Hallar the firefletcher would be awesome I pulled a timestamped version of her at pre-release and I really wanna make an edh deck out of her
When I first saw this awesome commander, first thing that came to mind was playing Glistening Oil on him :D
Great video ^^ although I kinda missed mention of the other new fungus/saproling cards, apart from the new enchantment
Heartstone and Poison-Tip Archer work well with slimefoot to.
The fabled return of "The saproling guy"
I actually run a Thelon of Havenwood deck. Guess what I'm building now! More saprolings!!!
That's gross, thanks for the ideas lol

Yeah, I only ever play it if I'm winning that turn, have a way to make my creatures indestructible, or comboing to turn my opponents' lands into Forests and then wipe them myself.
Fine, I'll subscribe and comment! Been watching since you did the Temet deck
I haven't seen the entire video yet, but I'm building slimefoot with parallel lives and ashnod's altar, hopefully that will be in the video!
Drafted this guy and he won me a few games, very fun card can't wait for him to be my next commander :)
I probably enjoy playing my slimefoot deck than I do with some of my others. the old Thallid cards are a lot of fun.
Awesome deck tech!
Also sprout swarm is great value by itself but goes infinite with paradox engine at instant speed which is pretty cool
Oohhhhhh you make a good point
Awesome setup thanks for this!!
Play him in a ghave guru if spores or a thelion of havenwood fungi deck you can play muraganda petroglyphs to boost the saprolings in green then there are couple anthem effects in in white that pump token creatures
Also theres proliferation and doubling season if you spalsh blue you could run paradox haze and proliferate from inexorable tide amd over clock to spore counter mechanic could be amazimg in the 99 or as a commander
Not sure if this has been said but you can exile a token as it enters the graveyard for the stuff that says exile a creature in graveyard to do x. Unless my understanding of the rule is skewed which is very possible
I think Sporecrown Thalid, Saproling Migration and Helm of the Host would also fit in the deck. Could you imagine Helm on Verant or Tendershoot...
Another dech tech as promised!
Night soil is another one of those create saprolings on the cheap. Can't go wrong with coat of arms.... since we're gaining life... exquisite blood-sanguine bond? If we're not shying away with combos i see no problem here lol
I'm interested on your Riff Capashen take
I'm a little way off of a Raff Capashan list because I want it to be a pretty tuned control deck but I am thinking about it.
This makes the rock deck return!
Very cool, I'm building one tomorrow! Thank you sir, I'm subbed.
Curious if you considered Winding Constrictor for this deck. It should add an extra spore counter on your thallids every time one is put on.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Thelon of Havenwood. He's a great way to pump your Fungus and add spore counters to them to create more saprolings.
Hehehehehe, Mazirek is one of my Commanders and wanted to add Saprolings to that deck, now I'm caught inbetween.
I’m going to call my Slimefoot commander deck ‘don’t eat the mushrooms’
If you ask me, covering the world in a neverending maze of trees, fungus and saprolings counts as a win if you play the fungus deck.
;)
As great as slimefoot is, ghave is a bit more flexible. The option of having white makes it easier because you can also annointed procession, giving you another token doubler along with enchantment tutoring. I dont think ill be building this deck but I cant wait to play against one to see it in action.
Oh my goodness! I didn't even think of that last infinite combo! That's hilarious!
Hey do you plan to make a deck tech for Raff Capashen? I would love to see a deck tech for him, and It's a very control like commander, so I figured you'd like it.
I plan on making one for him. I do want him to be a pretty tuned list so I'm going to wait a while.
Jumbo Commander Awesome! Yeah that makes sense. He does seem like a commander that needs a lot of tuning! Which Dominaria commander are you most interested in?
Oh I also forgot to mention something. Because Slimefoot deals the damage, you could also give it infect and take players out that way.
Could y'all look into maybe a wizard-ish tribal deck for Adeliz, the Cinder Wind?
Poisontip archer will go great in this
I think this is the deck I want to build most out of all the new legends in Dominaria
I'm currently building this deck :) i only need about 30 cards to go! i might sub in a few different cards or just have them available
might add poison tip archer and vindictive vampire for that sweet life drain and gain and possibly wilderness reclamation
and i think ill replace 1 forest with Pendelhaven seeing how i just might have a 1/1 creature ;)
Sporemound + Perilous Forays is also a good combo for this deck. It's infinite with pitiless plunderer, and fine without it.
Oooh. Good idea. Thanks
Killing Wave would be AWESOME in this deck :)!!!
I had just built Thelon of Havenwood when this for spoiled... Kinda hate to replace a commander so soon, but... Slimefoot.
This was the one i was most excited for
If you Final Parting mid-game for a Whisper, Blood Liturgist in your hand and an absolute bomb in your graveyard. That would be so strong.
I slammed my head on my work desk with that last combo
Pull that off at FNM and you'll get all your friends to slam their heads on their boardstates :D
Hey awesome deck tech! Thank so much for the content. Are you going to make a muldrotha deck tech?
I want this deck so bad I love saperlings it was my first deck type ever
amazing video dude very helpful
I'm really trying make a Raff Capashen deck but I could use some help. Trying to basically play any relevant legendary, not just artifacts. Flashing in planeswalkers, artifacts, legend enchantment and sorcery, the options seem very open
Was going to make a prossh deck but....saporlings
My comment from above. I should have just posted to reply to you originally. Just use Prossh instead of my thoughts:
Came here for some ideas to add to my Gahiji saproling deck (The Honored Fungus Among Us). Left with an idea on Saproling creation/sac Jund deck.
I might adjust my Thelon deck to Slimefoot to shake it up a little
I still believe it will be Ghave, with slimefoot in the deck.
Or just play what you like, is this video intended for hyper competitive players? I doubt it.
Carl STFU, Carl.
Slimee is twice as good as ghave. Cheap cmc, built in antiboardwipe. Ghave cant rebuild, and gets taxed out of play from removal.
2 Deck Techs in 2 days! Noice!
Without watching i can see the doubling season and ashnods altar combo
Edit: 8:08 CALLED IT
You read my mind 💕
