I am a huge fan of Kendrick he is one of the greatest m.c.s of all times, one of the greatest lyricists of alltimes, he has a great catalog of music. I love the Mr. Morale & the big stepers album and the Mr. Morale song however as a 45 years old Blackman i would say to K. Dot there is nothing wrong with him sleeping with white women, he shoudln't be a shame of that.
Yo naaaah Elliott was hilarious this episode lol this was a great episode coz you guys were just shooting the shit and the topics were the framework rather than the focal point. Much love from the West Coast of South Africa aka Cape Town!
Kendrick been tell y’all forever that he isn’t perfect it’s like y’all heard alright n was like yea he’s definitely the next savior no the man has been saying he’s fucked up for YEARS now
Love when Hed breaks down the music and nuances. I personally, will listen to music on a different level other than lyrics. The three of you together make this show great!!!!!
@@LijeeWin we unfortunately live in a world where cardi B won a Grammy for album of the year over Pusha T, Mac Miller, Nipsey, and Travis Scott… Macklemore won over Kendrick’s Good Kid Maad City… But not so much as a nomination for Q.
Not gonna lie I always wait for these podcasts come out ! I love them ! Such a funny group. DJ HED I totally agree with you when you say people have lack of nuance . There’s a lot of them hahah ! You are all legends
That was a great episode. You guys really made it feel like a welcoming conversation while getting across some deep dives into several different artists. And, dropping gems for artists out there that want that full sound to an album. 💯🔥
@drariles yessss I loved that album from the jump , I could not for the life of me get the criticism, I took it as musical preference,it seems people are finally listening, with an ear to understand and not just to be entertained.
Didn’t listen to it when it came out (Wasn’t keeping up at the time) but I listened to it early last year and it’s easily my favorite Kendrick album and one of my top 3 albums in general across genre
This podcast is one of the best (top 2 in hip-hop culture) regarding segue between topics. I'm amazed every week by how they dive between topics seamlessly.
Somebody tell Eliot the PDF stuff did land lol! My female coworkers treated the accusations like true crime and the rabbit holes and dots connecting with Drake saying creepy stuff to young women and his toxicity with dating had them locked in. It took RKelly and Diddy a while to get caught… I think a lot of us are just waiting
14:28 I have listened to New Blue Sun from beginning to end at least 5 times while wide awake. While driving and running errands. While cooking. I also really like jazz, and I like taking a break from hearing words. There’s more genres than just hip hop, Elliott 🙄😂
This is in my opinion before Stan’s jump up my ahhhs Drake doesn’t have any classic albums. He has classic songs and a couple really good albums. A classic album means no skips or only two at the most. Kendrick Lamar has pretty much all classic albums. Mr Morale is criminally underrated. Also drake is an all time great pop star and somewhere in the top 50 rappers but Kendrick I can argue is the greatest rapper of all time.😊 just my opinion
I would argue Take Care is a classic but I'm biased not even as a Kendrick stan (I am) but as a Weeknd stan, Weeknd made that album what it is, both directly by giving whole songs to Drake, help writing and through being a major influence on Drake.
@quinncillian i dont give take care that classic title cause of the weeknd. Depending what ever version of the weeknd story you want to go with that he took half the songs of his first album. It takes away from that album and the weeknd outshines drake too much for me
Ok Elliot I hear you talking bout you are more famous than some of the people you interviewed. I see you 👀 with your Miami Vice suit on with no socks 😂
AB-SOUL ALBUM DOE BURGER SHOULD BE NOW CONSIDERED FOR ALBUM OF THE YR. AND THE GRAMMYS NEED TO CREATE A LYRICST OF THE YR , HE WOULD HAVE WON IT FOR ALL HIS FEAUTRES THIS YR AND HIS ALBUM
Thank you Jeremy. I've had that same mindset on Mr Morale... Cuz he put all his flaws out there. There were no more skeletons in the closet. So Drake would have nothing to throw on the table.
1:45:16 i really don't understand this take about 4:44 being the blueprint for Morale. I feel like Morale was just a natural extension/progression for Kendrick. All of Kendricks albums are centered around him dissecting himself, his place in the world, society/etc. He has always exhibited vulnerability. Morale was just a deeper dive. I remember 4:44 was characterized by how mature it felt but did it really delve into the topics of therapy and trauma like morale? Was it even as vulnerable as Damn?
Why not get the kendrick topics out the way instead of talking about him every 5 mins. It’s Kendrick then another subject then Kendrick then another subject etc
Funny how when the PDF FILE Drake was colonizing Hiphop and featured in every song, everyone was always talking about him and there were no complaints from OVHOES, quite funny I must say 😂
Do you think the guys can go a full episode without mentioning Drake or Kendrick?
No
*Maybe* after the *Superbowl*
Nah because Drake is moving just like a degenerate every antic is feeling distasteful. So he continues to make hip hop headlines

No, and they shouldn't

Not my favorite Dot album but def a top tier album that I’m still listening to
Mr Morale thru headphones when I’ve got the house to myself is elite. One skip though. GKMC in the car. A skip on that for me too.

I’ll be surprised if Kendrick performs at the Grammys right before the Super Bowl
Honestly the best hip hop podcast like the chemistry between the three is so perfect is hilarious
