Watching your videos helped me decide that this is something I would really like to do. I will be turning 26 this year and I finally feel like I have found what I want to do. Thank you for the great videos!
I am a junior in high school and I have made my decision to pursue a career as a PTA. I’ve been researching a lot and your channel has helped me a lot.
Great information. I personally like seeing the actual workplace and what goes on during a normal day. It gives great insight on what to expect. Awesome video as usual!!
I’ve been a massage therapist for 3 years now, and although I love it, I feel like I’ve gotten away from the medical/therapeutic aspect of it sometimes. Definitely considering becoming a pta! Thank you for your informative videos!
Thank you for your specific information on what the test will have. It's important to me to have a concept of where my education is leading. You are very easy to listen to. Your high energy is appreciated.
This was the first video i watched when i searched "Physical Therapy Assistant" and i gotta say, I'm blown away. I also live in Michigan and, for the most part, this video answered many questions for me. I have always been involved and intrigued with helping people feel better on a physical level, but i feel like this video really spoke to my core. I am not a massage therapist, i am not a certified physical trainer, i am not a nurse or dietitian, and yet i feel i have fulfilled these roles for some people. Every person i have "coached" or helped out has always left me feeling like "this is what i should be doing with my life" or "I wish i could get paid for this" but i have never give a PTA position hardly any thought until someone told me i should be a PTA the other day. After watching this video, i can honestly say that for the first time in my life, i know what i want to do. I looked up the requirements for a degree in this field and surprisingly i have all but one class of my prerequisites completed. I am seeking to go back to school shortly and finally complete my degree. So thank you for this!

Hi Antonio, I passed my boards on my third try. I am a huge fan of yours! Started a job that I absolutely love, at the SNF. Are you able to do a video of how to become more efficient as a PTA when it comes to treat and document at the same time? The productivity is 90 to 95% in my facility. I’ve always felt like I wanted to go into nursing but my moms bestie is a pta so I’ve asked her about it and I don’t really know if nursing is for me!!! I am seriously considering PTA as a mid-life career move but I am concerned about job prospects. I was recently told that medicare will be reimbursing 20% less for PTAs starting next year. How do you think this will affect the field?
Really nice to see what a PTA actually does on a day to day basis. I am thinking about becoming a PTA myself. Is there any advice you have for a person who is thinking about going to school and taking up this profession?

Hi, Antonio. I was wondering if you have ever worked with kids? Right now I'm in my undergrad program & I'm really thinking about going to PTA program. I have seen the role of a PTA and I love it since I'm interning at a private clinic. I'm really grateful to see your video.
Ashley Clayden Moss thanks a ton! And yes I work with all different age ranges. It is really fun working with kids actually! I’ve worked with babies, 3yr olds, teens, and all the way up to 98 lol
Thank you so much for the information. Can you give me some advice on how to be a Therapy technician that goes above and beyond but also staying in the scope of practice.
Great video but I think it is significantly important to add that in treatment sessions the PTA must provide education to the patient. In my opinion, this is one of the most important responsibilities of a clinician, yet is one of the least that we follow through with. At times the physician doesn't have the time to fully educate patients in anatomy or movement issues related to their current deficits. We must educate clients on expectations of the surgery, inflammatory response as it relates to healing and surgery or trauma, causes of pain related to diagnosis, and also rational behind use of exercises or modalities. Education allows the patient to feel we are professional and competent. Knowledge will put clients at ease with recovery. Terry Harris, PTA '97.
Lidi G I’ll try! Ideally id like to interview a OT or OTA to get more insight. It might take some time to set up a time to interview someone though! Thanks for the comment.
Should you have passion for this field? I have been into fitness for quite a few years and am starting my prerequisites this fall for the PTA program, because I feel it's the best field for me as far as investment to debt goes and prior knowledge that I have accumulated over time; I just want to have more of a passion for it then I currently do.
MC Adams I feel like the more experience you get in the field the more in to it you will get. Passion is something you can create and grow so even if it is not exactly there currently, you can grow into it more and utilize your strengths that you currently have. My passion leans more towards presenting new ideas and helping people make a change for the better in their lives, so I utilize video and communication in physical therapy so it’s not always just working one on one with patients. Find out what you love to do and figure out how you can integrate that into physical therapy!
Hi Antonio! I am going to reapply to the PTA program at my community college. Due to COVID-19, I was unable to do observation hours. If you don’t mind, may I ask some questions I would typically ask during observation? There are the questions: 1. What is your biggest challenge as a PTA? 2. Why did you choose PTA over PT? 3. How do you deal with a difficult patient? -Thank you in advance.
Hi im currently in college, I have my associates in Kinesiology and Health. I will now be entering the exercise science program in order to enter the Physical Therapy program after. Just had some questions is there any way that I can work as a Physical Therapist Assistant? If so how, if not why. I took the majority of the classes that's required in the PTA program so I was just wondering.
I am a 46 years old male. I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2003, not that I have been a working therapist, but we won’t put that on my resume😂 Anyway, I was in PTA school 14 years ago and left when we had a house flood. I have now been accepted and start in August 2024. It’s a two year program. I’ll be doing Massage when I have time. I find it ironic that I can evaluate and treat patients as a Massage Therapist and even emailed the board about using weights and exercise and it seems I can do that as well. But as a licensed PTA I can not evaluate and create a treatment plan. I did some observation at an outpatient physical therapy clinic and loved it. You’re correct in that it is a mutual team work relationship, not like a boss saying do this and a PTA can supplement similar exercise that have the same range of motion, if it works for the patient better. PTA follow the plan, but it’s more of an outline for the PT’s intention because a PT is not going through all the exercises each time. A lot of patients don’t continue exercises at home and slow their recovery and ability. Others kill it at home and come in ready to rock and roll, fortunately this was the majority of what I saw in outpatient. What I hated about outpatient, standing not doing anything but observing. Most of the PTA was not as hands on as I had expected. Most exercise is done by the patient and observed by the PTA. Part of this is billing. They keep in mind, like you mentioned, what maximizes their time, but really what maximizes billing. Manual work may get the job done but hands off modalities pay more, both are just as effective as the other.
This is so encouraging! I've been employed with the government for 18 years as an Administrative Assistant. I"m so not full filled, or making a difference in lives. Throughout the years I've always dabbled in Health & Wellness MLM companies. I've obtain a personal trainer cert, AA Degree in Hr, BA Business, Real Estate License ect. So, I know god put the entrepreneur spirit in me. I've allways wanted to be a DPT but my hardships prevented that. With a son and working full-time, it would be hard to pursue DPT right not. The school here in Vegas wants student to attend full time. How the heck will I survive financially. I've been praying asking god should I pursue PTA program or just get the comprehensive cert in Pilates. Pilates is good for rehabilitation too. I"m mat Pilates Certified. My job will pay for some of PTA courses, but most classes are during the time I work. Oh my, pray for me. I almost want to quit my job and have faith. I may have to depend on god and the state financially if I do, but I know the it will be worth it in the long run.
wow yah sounds like you have a lot going on! I'll pray for you, let me know how things go along the way and how things turn out. Thanks for your input on your situation!

Then while working as a pta get my master in kinesiology, to possible become an occupational therapist, but I wanna be working... who knows maybe by the time I’m in my 30s it could get my doctorate in kinesiology
Hey Antonio! I have recently discovered your videos and they are so helpful on getting more in depth info on going for PTA and I love it! Also where can I get the tshirts you have!?
Hey Antonio I am more of a hands on and moving person, but I always wanted to do something in physical therapy but can you tell me the difference between OTA and PTA? Thank you!
It depends on the clinic and if they are okay with you going in early to work out. At my clinics we were able to exercises if another clinician or someone else was there. People would usually work out on their lunch breaks.
Emily Brown ahh I just asked what setting you work in from a different comment lol. We focus on one on one care so we don’t see a crazy amount like the last clinic I worked at. And it fluctuates but we usually just see 1-2 patients every hour and either myself or mehgan will treat them.
I work in Texas for an outpatient orthopedic clinic! It’s called KSF Orthopedic Center. We have a group of 10 or so orthopedic surgeons. Love it! I personally do not see myself in a hospital, nursing home or pediatric setting everrrrr! So I’m super blessed to have found my ideal setting!
Video idea: day in the life of a PTA, funny edition. Like how we deal with “those patients” lol. The ones who can’t keep count of reps, the ones who don’t do their HEP, who go against their surgical protocols and wonder why they hurt, who ask when the pain will go away/when the swelling will go down, trying to finish notes on time, etc!!. Stuff like that would be hilarious!! 😂
There is less opportunities to find a job in a outpatient clinics. Unfortunately, unlicensed aides are doing the PTAs jobs. Even applying modalities. It is very sad but it is the true.

@@AntonioSanson i enjoy watching your videos. I have been thinking about being a PTA. I admire what you and many PTAS. But I'm a full figured 48 year old. 😊
Ephraim Alexis I didn’t know much about the career so for me it was a way to test it out to see if I liked it instead of going for my DPT and regretting it.
hey im about to have a entry level job offer as a PTA and it will be my first job as a PTA if i get a job offer extended to me and i was wondering if i will be able to negotiate the salary i am offered? i dont really have any relative job experience to PT however im 20 years old and im currently a manager for the Kohls retail store and im just curious if i can negotiate the salary and if you would mind sharing your first PTA job starting salary if you dont mind of course, you do not have to if you are not comfortable sharing that. i would really appreciate if you could answer this for me thank you
johnny v that is a tough question lol. If you have experience as a PTA it is easier to negotiate your pay. If you already are told you have the job then maybe you could try asking if you can negotiate your pay but that is hard for me to say not knowing the details of your specific situation. My first job as a PTA in an outpatient clinic was $18 an hour Hopefully this helps some!

A massage therapist sounds like a better fit if you would like to look into it
I see folks like you twice a week..I have Cerebral palsy....I do well..I thank you for posting the video with the young man with CP..It's Nice to see folks showing the CP World...
That is great to here! Thanks for your input!
I want to give all my time to help the patient and have a hard time documenting at the same time
Thank you in advance!
Anabela
Glad you like the channel! Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll see if I can make something in the future.
Antonio Sanson Thank you very much 👌🏾
Thank you soo much for the information! Wish you only the best🌷
Michelle Martinez thanks! Are you interested in this field?
This is what i will be going to school for thanks
Awesome video man!!!
You are the best antonio
This is the only job I feel excited to actually do. I want to be a full PT but I’m just starting off as an assistant first
BTS
Few schools ooffer the transition from pta to pt
@Meh What's PRN? Also, how did you get into home health? I'm 26 and am strongly considering pulling the trigger on beginning schooling for PTA.
Meh agreed
@@joecool5492 im in the same boat 26 really considering it
Thank you for sharing! O am planning to study this course.
I’ve always felt like I wanted to go into nursing but my moms bestie is a pta so I’ve asked her about it and I don’t really know if nursing is for me!!! I don’t like hospital setting, I don’t like other people’s bodily fluids, and I don’t like school. In my state I’d have to do one more year online for a bachelors for me to even keep my RN license!! How annoying is that.
Very inspiring video great information thank you brother
You're awesome. You gave me a better look on PTAs. Thank you!!
Good job ! Great information 👍🏻
So awesome mate, I’m from the UK 🇬🇧 and Monday I have an interview for a PTA job 🤞😷😂
How did it go!
I didn’t get it guys 😪 260 applicants! The whole Covid situation didn’t help I guess 🤪😂
GreenEYESfromOHIO Mental man! Well there’s so many people out of work now thanks to Covid and the NHS kind of look after their own first which I don’t blame them.Onto the next one!💪
I am seriously considering PTA as a mid-life career move but I am concerned about job prospects. I was recently told that medicare will be reimbursing 20% less for PTAs starting next year. How do you think this will affect the field?
you were so helpful!! thanks for the info dude!!
Really nice to see what a PTA actually does on a day to day basis. I am thinking about becoming a PTA myself. Is there any advice you have for a person who is thinking about going to school and taking up this profession?
Awesome!
there is so much I could say lol. It just takes a lot of effort so be determined to finish, stay focused and motivated, and don't be afraid to reach out to people if you are struggling through something!!
This was super helpful, as I am in school currently to be a PTA. I'm looking forward to it, and am looking for some helpful resources, specifically with studying and applying real world situations. Could you please suggest some podcasts you've found helpful?
Hi, new subscriber and start school Monday for pre reqs. Hope to be accepted by PTA program eventually. Thanks a bunch for the information!
Thanks for the video!
Miriam I. Welcome!!!
My 11 year old son is considering PTA, this helped him hey an idea of what that means
Good Stuff Antonio!
Can you please make a video of the differences about PTA and OTA? Thank you.
Lidi G I’ll try!
Ideally id like to interview a OT or OTA to get more insight.
It might take some time to set up a time to interview someone though!
Thanks for the comment.
very helpful. Thanks!
Great video! Hi I am student of PTA program
Sundip Biswas that’s great!
When do you graduate?
Tell
Thanks for you help, I appreciate it!
Great video man I really have a lot of questions but maybe u should do a q and A video maybe 20 to 30 questions
Nice video ...Am planning to have my own center as an occupational therapy and am mental health Worker. Hope I get my T-shirt
I am a working on my associates degree in health science do you think it is possible to get a job as a PTA even tho I am not in a PTA program
so helpful! Thank you
You're the man!
Good info bro 👍🏼
BeastorFail thanks man!
What podcast are there for pt, pta I am very interested 😮
Great info...thank you for sharing....
In New Jersey I don't think you're allowed to progress or make any changes to plan if care
Yah we can't change the POC either but if the therapist does instruct you to advance the patient you still have to be able to do that.
Great video I loved it .
Hey I just want to know if I can work with associates college degree in other countries like Europe?? And how much I get paid in my fierst job ??
The notes that you take down is it hard or you just describing on what you have done throughout the day with your patients?
It’s not hard, just time consuming.
You document the patients progress, limitations, what they say, what they did that day,
loved the video! i’m a junior in high school, and i want to pursue a career in physical therapy. were there any steps you had to take in high school to prepare, or did you start figuring out your future career in college
I am currently working on my bachelors in kinesiology, and am going to school at a pta program in the fall and finishing with a full bachelors in kinesiology and pta before I’m 22. Then while working as a pta get my master in kinesiology, to possible become an occupational therapist, but I wanna be working... who knows maybe by the time I’m in my 30s it could get my doctorate in kinesiology
That was very helpful thank you!!!!
Can a PT make goals for the Plan of Care and the PTA chooses the exercises or does the PT choose the exercises themselves?
Usually the pta has the freedom to choose the exercises they want to do with the patient.
Cool crash course
wheres the therapist bit??? when does the video start?
Regarding PTA in Canada any other knoldge regarding examination. Pl more details. Pl
Hey Antonio! I have recently discovered your videos and they are so helpful on getting more in depth info on going for PTA and I love it! Also where can I get the tshirts you have!?
Thanks for the support!
In the description of the video there is a link
Great work :)
NewGradOptometry.com haha thanks!
Hey Antonio I am more of a hands on and moving person, but I always wanted to do something in physical therapy but can you tell me the difference between OTA and PTA? Thank you!
Sarah Fernandez I’ll see what I can do!
Antonio Sanson thank you !
Question: As a PTA, can you arrive to work early and use the gym to work out?
It depends on the clinic and if they are okay with you going in early to work out. At my clinics we were able to exercises if another clinician or someone else was there. People would usually work out on their lunch breaks.
Love this!! Looks like you’re in an outpatient setting? That’s what I do!
What’s your patient work load look like on average?
Thats great! I'm glad you found something that you enjoy doing!
Hi. I'm an international student who is interested in studying pta at Henry Ford College in Detroit and i want to ask you important questions.
Is there a way to get a cpt training and a sponsor when I finish my degree?
Where in Michigan? I'm here in Dearborn Heights
Nice! my brother lives in Dearborn. I live by Lapeer
@@AntonioSanson i enjoy watching your videos. I have been thinking about being a PTA. I admire what you and many PTAS. But I'm a full figured 48 year old. 😊
Why'd you choose PTA instead of being like a physical therapist getting your DPT ?
Ephraim Alexis I didn’t know much about the career so for me it was a way to test it out to see if I liked it instead of going for my DPT and regretting it.
hey im about to have a entry level job offer as a PTA and it will be my first job as a PTA if i get a job offer extended to me and i was wondering if i will be able to negotiate the salary i am offered? i dont really have any relative job experience to PT however im 20 years old and im currently a manager for the Kohls retail store and im just curious if i can negotiate the salary and if you would mind sharing your first PTA job starting salary if you dont mind of course, you do not have to if you are not comfortable sharing that. i would really appreciate if you could answer this for me thank you
i am also bilingual i speak spanish and english
johnny v that is a tough question lol. If you have experience as a PTA it is easier to negotiate your pay. If you already are told you have the job then maybe you could try asking if you can negotiate your pay but that is hard for me to say not knowing the details of your specific situation.
My first job as a PTA in an outpatient clinic was $18 an hour
Hopefully this helps some!
