Composed by David Wise. Recreated by me. This was made possible by locating the original instrument samples from workstation keyboards and drum machines before they were put into the game and rebuilding the soundtrack from the ground up, applying some modern mixing techniques along the way to lift the veil of 16bit compression and create an updated listening experience. Facts! I was only 2 when this game came out but I played it when I’d go over to my cousins house all the time when I was like 8/9 years old late 90s. My sister and I were just a bit cooler though since we had a sega genesis ;). Now I’m team PlayStation for life but just hearing the sounds and music that started my gaming addiction at such a young age brings back amazing memories that’ll never be forgotten. I’m 31 and a streamer now lol. Gaming never ends 💯

I love how DKC music always incorporates the sound of the level environment in the music. Like Diddy singing in this, the pickaxe in Mining Melancholy, the screams in Disco Train, the rain in the Ship Mast music. It's very *WISE*

Hey, Sam! The "monkey" sounds on the percussive section are intended to emulate the cuíca (kwika), a Brazilian percussive friction instrument descended from the African pwita. I wonder if you could show us how the song would sound with the cuíca instead of the monkey sounds!

@@occamsbeatinstick.3076 I think you're thinking of the reco-reco/güira 😅 the cuíca is actually a membranophone (while the reco is an idiophone) - it's like a drum with one side open. It's related to the orchestral lion's roar. There is a short stick attached to the drum head, accessible from the inside of the instrument. You control the pitch by pressing and releasing the drum head. And you produce sound by gently rubbing a wet piece of cloth on the stick - be careful, though, making the drum head itself wet may cause it to tear!
