I really like the darker tone of it all, too; it's almost apocalyptic. It really puts Bowser and Peach in a new perspective. Also, I love your style. Both the characters look awesome. You nailed it! :D (and the original drawing is amazing, too!)
Hey Caylee, I think both versions have very interesting features for themselves. The version of 2008 is rather gloomy and threatening. The new version reflects a very different atmosphere through the coloring and the slightly changed body language. I really love both version and the new technique of shading in the complementary contrast is a really cool idea that I wanna testing too*•*

very cool ^^ sure I can see many improvement in the new version (the old one was nice too ;)). I really like the new shadow tecnique you use, it give the colors a better look, less cartoon and more volume. May I ask what kind of artistical school you did? I want to do some art courses too someday

I didn't really go to an official art school. Just a two year community collage that had a few art classes to choose from.
