This was such a helpful video. Most of the other videos that come up in the search results are just advertisements, but this was legitimately helpful and insightful. Thanks so much
You gotta start making courses with all this knowledge man. Quality design course are far and few between. Start with basics and then get as in depth as you want! I got your first customer right here 🤚🏼
Thank you brother! I appreciate that. My coach just had a baby but this is something we have been talking about for awhile. I think one of my next projects is to get to work with her and “design” a course. 👍🏼
Great ideas here. It's amazing that Costco sells those gazebos. We're going to build our own pergola and put a cover on it. We'll share pictures as we start to install the design you helped us with. We're very excited about the project!
Building my own pergola is not that difficult to do, just takes a lot of time and know-how. But anyone can learn from RUclips and basic power tools. I am building my own this coming Spring to extend my front porch to make it a wrap around. There are also kits available that are affordable or it can be built from scratch. The side I'm putting my pergola on gets full sun and we're in TX so I'm not sure how thats going to work just yet but I'll engineer something to make it comfortable to use in any season. Love your channel! Edited to add: there is an incredible company in the states that's called Backyard Designs and they sell pergola and gazebo kits for the best prices I've seen. They come in mamy different sizes and materials as well so there's something for everyone. Definitely check them out!!
I do like the lean to structure. I will be looking forward to your video showing the one you are getting for your yard. Have you ever dabbled in carports or dining flies?
Can’t wait to share. No. I’ve dabbled in front porch additions to change the appearance of a home but not gotten into the carpets/dining flies. Thank you for the comment and watching!❤️
😰 US dollars!? The prices of construction materials went up (in Canada,) especially of wood, since covid... I was waiting for next year to have my back balcony built as prices are going down. There's even a shortage of cement! If i had a pergola for shade up North, i'd use winter hardy kiwi vines 🥝 (male and female plants) for its beautiful pink leaves, or Ampelopsis brevipedunculata, which isn't winter hardy but grows back rapidly each spring. Anyway, problem solved since i don't have the space for a pergola and it's definitely too expensive... I will keep my beautiful Magnolia as a shade umbrella... ☂️ (sp. soulangiana) Also will put a geotextile directly on the ground under it (since grass isn't growing) and pour bags of river stones, then display a cast iron garden set... And cross my fingers to never see mealy bugs in the Magnolia again... 🤞🏼
US pricing but that got thrown out the window with COVID. Prices on materials definitely went up so that would make the pricing said in this video probably go to another 15%. Thank you for watching and commenting!!! Sounds like you’ve found a few alternative solutions.👍🏼
Hey Jack. I appreciate your response. I know…it seems crazy but these prices are also a range based on many different aspects of a project which I don’t get into in the video. I try my best to give a range based on current projects I am running where we are definitely charging these prices which are right in line with our market. Like I said, I appreciate your response and in future videos I will try to break down the eggy much better.
@@jackcosta5764 I appreciate it and I definitely have built projects for less as well. What I have realized is that the competition is charging even more than what I stated in the video so why work your butt off to survive. If you install quality products, you should get paid well for those installs. 👍🏼 The client is still getting a fair price, your getting paid what you’re worth, and everybody is happy.

Thank you for watching and the tips.👍🏼 Good luck with the pergola.
Thanks for sharing. We have a pergola but now I wish we had one with the roof.
They have UV protected corrugated roofs that you can add, after the fact to the pergola. That's what we're looking to do for our design.
I hear ya. So much to choose from out there!❤️
@@christiiwatkins1543 great tip!!!

@@BobbyKDesigns Thanks Bobby, although my DIYs never look very professional compared to your creations!
@@sgueymard we all start somewhere. Many of my first projects were awful! Lol
The third guy spent so much on the covered porch, they had to resort to a bare minimum pool
This guy's price targets are ridiculous. Way too high. Every project should be like 25% of the prices he said.

@@BobbyKDesigns you have great ideas and epic project's. 👍 but I've built beautiful project's for a fraction of the price.
