After over 2 years and almost 200 episodes, PBS Game/Show is saying goodbye. Thank you for all of the fantastic discussions and enlightenment in the comments throughout the show. We've learned so much from you. Thanks for watching.

The fact that Jamin did not appear or comment at all indicates that the publisher just shot it down and someone else edited this ending video.

You're right... between 20-40k views on each episode might not be up to scratch in terms of profitability :(
Especially compared with Idea Channel which gets between 80-100k.
+RebSike I would have assumed that all nonpolitical channels suffer somewhat during an election season. Either way, PBS had much less viewed shows last time I checked.
I agree with the general consensus of unsustainability. I mean, honestly, all of the money would have been going towards just keeping the staff fed (it's actually an entire team, not a one-man show) and that makes those numbers worse than a minimum wage job. honestly, I feel the descent began when Jamin started posting his personal, low-quality webcam talky bits. I personally skipped those every time, so that was hours of wasted editing and recording time wasted on maybe half of the views.
This, combined with the fact there are others doing the same but better for less (Extra Credits for example whenever they talk game design, including their let's play channel where it's even denser and more technical), there's just no competing. and I do mean the exact same stuff. art design, game design choices and their social and gameplay ramifications, blah blah blah.
This is a great day for feminism.
According to Jamin, 89.2% of PBS Game/Show's audience were male but from this point on the exact same number of men and women will be watching new episodes: Zero.
Equality achieved.

The statistics don't lie. This show was a toxic misogynistic non-inclusive garbage fire and it clearly doesn't belong in the current year.

I'm not an expert, but this was a show that was produced by a studio, namely PBS. jamin and the team was probably paid by them instead of making money off the ad revenue and patreon and whatnot, and since the channel didn't take off the way PBS expected it they must have cancelled it.

That us nothing when you have a company like PBS backing you. I mean PBS was even putting money into ads for this show.
Probably cancelled because it brought up to many controversial topics political instead of sticking to stuff about games. Not that you can't bring up politics of course, but some times it felt like it was ultra-feminst show when it did.
I thought I unsubbed to this channel. I really lost interest when they kept bringing in more social crap instead of just sticking and talking about games.
Games are social crap. Game designers are people and their actions are complexly motivated.
I wander that too.
One side you have the watches who can go into deep social politics topics in and around Video Game culture however may have little or no interest in say dark souls, Goat simulator or JRPGS.
The other side you have is the gamers who love discussions within the world of video games but get too alienated when talking about feminism, Race relations or LGBTQ.
Perhaps the channel is too split, try to cater to 2 large sides but satisfied the handful niche who enjoys both. However from the look of it, that wasn't enough for PBS.
Every time he brought up feminism, the comment section went nuts. Is that not a sign that it warrants discussion?

I hope if they decide to ever do this again, that they do it in a less preachy way. I enjoyed when they could keep talking about games, but too often they showed all kinds of questionable and wannabe social agendas on the viewers. The Internet has spoken, gamers don't want moraliser to talk about our hobby.

Well. I feel sorry for whoever put hard work into this, but the videos were frankly quite poorly argued. Too much agenda-driven stuff, too little substantial material actually about games.

I've never felt more marginalized than I did when I tried to sit through some of this guy's videos.

This man worked directly against your interests, if anything you were more welcome in the gaming community before.

Wow, I just found this channel a few months ago, and I've enjoyed watching the old episodes. I do game development as a hobby and I've found most of the Game/Show videos very informative (much better than Extra Credits). I know how hard it can be to make quality videos on a weekly basis, especially when you're not getting compensated for it.

Sad to see it go, video games are in constant need of analysis for it to progress as an art form and we don't have much to work with as is.
Well, I guess I am glad it is over, was too much questionable content anyway. No, wonder it didn't was too popular with gamers, since it was just to preachy, since nobody likes moralisers, especially if they try that hard to tell us how horrible we must be for liking games.
