This is rather wild. I’m 20 minutes in and what has always bothered me about having tinnitus, is that it’s a sound that shouldn’t be there and you can’t stop. But this is the same sound (more or less), but because it’s a real sound and is supposed to be there, it’s like my brain is OK with that. It’s like my brain can finally relax about this noise. I plan on playing it when I sleep tonight to see what happens after long term exposure. Thanks for posting.

This high pitched probably has some benefit over time at a very low volume. I have used Sound Therapy, which is based on a therapy developed by Dr. Tomatis in Paris about 70 years ago. It made a huge difference for me. That uses classical music at very low volume with the low pitched sounds filtered out, but that only works with earphones. Maybe this works in a similar way. I also combine it with homeopathic medicines from PHP that also made a big difference (which I didn't expect). It's gone from really depressing to very mild irritation. Just try everything.

Curious. I have had tinnitus for over 30 years. I always tell people that it sounds like crickets and frogs on a summer night in Mississippi. In fact, when I moved from Mississippi to Florida I once mentioned to a friend that it was weird how the crickets and frogs go on 24 hours a day in Florida instead of just at night like they do in Mississippi. She had no idea what I was talking about. When I explained myself she informed me that there was no cricket sound. It was the first time I realized that I had tinnitus and that the sound I was hearing wasn't incessant crickets. As a hypnotherapist I work with people who suffer from tinnitus all the time. I actually use cricket background noise for my sessions. I did that intuitively without any knowledge that this was a known therapeutic practice. Like they always say, listen to your intuition.

I have a severe case of tinnitus. It started during my recovery after aneurysm surgery (craniotomy - Occipital to PICA Bypass). Not sure that's the root cause, but it's catastrophic IMO.
Distraction(s) are what seems to help. I don't notice it when I can find interesting distractions. Mine, is a high-pitched squeal.
Reading your comment makes me wonder how exactly was the diagnosis "3K Hz Irregular Chirping Tinnitus" made. An audiologist?
I read a AARP article that was about a new device that emitted a sound mimicking the wearers Tinnitus. The idea being it would help 'de-sensitize' the brain to that particular sound.
I never found that article again and failed to note what the technology was.
However, I found your technical description of your Tinnitus very interesting.
I would like to know what mine is.
Oh, it's worse enemy, is, an ear infection or true hearing loss.
I once became severely depressed when sitting on our back porch and realized I couldn't hear in my left ear due to a infection. That made the Tinnitus much worse. I'm scared to death of losing what hearing I have left. The specter of only 'hearing' tinnitus is awful.

My father had the same hearing loss I have (very little above 1,500-2,000 hz) so I think there is a genetic aspect. He claimed he got it shooting machine guns in WWII. My tinnitus sounds like I am in a cymbal factory in the jungle, all different sounds from different spatial locations, from clinking to clanging to chirping to ringing to shrill tones, the occasional ear piercing alarm, crickets, cicadas, on and on. This cricket sound actually made my tinnitus louder to match the volume and timbre. I once had a fever of 104 and all my tinnitus was gone and I could hear a pin drop and cars a mile away. I think it is a physical thing, pinched tubes or impingement somewhere.

This is one of the best things I’ve found to mask the absolute horror that is tinnitus. Mine gets louder the more sound is introduced so not much works other than the stuff at the frequency, which is not very relaxing. This is honestly incredible for my left ear particularly. Gonna listen to it tonight for bed and am hoping for a better nights sleep!

Tinnitus is like epilepsy and is different for everyone. Some are affected by certain frequency ranges and others have repetitive tonality (almost like "earworms" - musical loops). You have to experiment and find the white/pink noise that works for you. Or you could end up being conned.

Put a small fan next to your bad and dont worry if you still hear the pitch its fine and youll get used to it you dont need to listen to crickets all night its not normal. Here is the golden rule the less you listen to it the less it will effect your day to day. After a super bad sinus infection and noticed when the tinnitus was setting in. Nothing I could do. I had gotten depressed out of no where. And I never get depressed. I have a wife and two kids. But the ringing is something else. Lived in the south with crickets for 24 years. 6 years in illinios and no crickets, maybe I just Un adapted what I already had or the infection does a number on the brain too. Idk but crickets help!

Had this for going on 30 yrs.
Discovered crickets via a sound machine about six months in.
      Feedback machine
Headphones just in front of not on your ears
It will at the least distract you from noticing the whistle whine buzz or hum and help you deal with it.
It's best to learn to cope with it.
      The sound isn't actually there.
Our brain is misinterpreting something and processing it as the tinnitus sound.
After a while, you will get used to hearing it- no matter how frequently it occurs and will hardly notice it.
Having these type of resources to fall back on will help those early days and the latter days when you just can't seem to deal with it.
If you have an episode where the resources aren't at hand, breathe deeply. Place your hands on the mid ridge of your skull
Cross your fingers and flip the top finger down so it taps on the base of your skull.
This supposedly resets a nerve in the back of the skull but at the least it is distracting you from the sound.
The ONE thing that helps me EVERY time is getting outside.
On days when I just can't seem to shake the sound and focusing on it
I just get outside and sit on the porch or work in the yard.
Mine too are from having numerous ear infections as a child and several ear injuries.
Though an ENT specialist did tell me I have disgustingly perfect hearing and am hearing the sound because I am hearing EVERYTHING going on around me. Very tough for me to focus on face to face conversations in noisy places.

Very surprising. I have described my tinnitis as sounding like water running through pipes, but the cricket chirping is at almost the same frequency and within just three minutes has greatly reduced my tinnitis. I will play this over and over. Edited to add: OK this is weird. After having the "10 hours" video playing in background for about 5 hours. My tinnitis is no longer a constant hiss. Now it sounds almost exactly like crickets chirping. I've had it for so long that most of the time I don't even notice it, but hopefully from now on I will think of the relaxing sounds of crickets rather than the annoying sound of a steady 24-7 hiss.

Although these aren't really crickets but cicadas (both are beautiful gifts), the important thing is that, after first exposure, my tinnitus really diminished. It's good to know that the process is really reversible (in my case) and I hope, some day - completely reversible. I found this video after walking along a Lake Ontario trail and noticing that seagulls' wailing and squawking is having, if not anti-tinnitus, at least a calming effect on me. For all those who are suffering from tinnitus, there is relief available. I highly recommend you book a consultation with DR. Ben and enroll into his program. I was diagnosed with tinnitus 20 years ago, it became maddening for me. Eventually I enrolled into a TRT program and began wearing the in the ear noise generators. Eventually I began removing my focus from the tinnitus ( that's the problem by the way, we focus too much on it.) Unfortunately, back 20 years ago I did not get the CBT help required because of my remote location to any providers so it became a drawn out process with just the generators. Eventually, I got past the anxiety and got back to living my normal life again. Did the tinnitus go away, no, but it is there only if I go looking for it. Trust me in time it becomes a none issue.

This is very cool, it does cancel out the ringing. The only downside is my ADHD audio engineering brain can hear the loop pattern in the sample of the crickets so it’s expecting the pattern after a few rounds. So instead of falling asleep my brain is actively listening anticipating lol. Like tinnitus I can’t turn that off. I have no clue how I got tinnitus. In audio school we learned about it and our teacher, we had one for almost all the main courses would scold us at length about protecting our hearing. He had us all customized ear plus made for concerts. You have to love college corses where going to live music shows are part of the curriculum! I’ve been extremely careful with my hearing since about 18 and at 40 is when I first started noticing it. It could be from the first days of The Walkman before I knew better? In any case I definitely can’t sleep unless a sound is playing because the ringing sound is worse then anything. Tinnius is what can be described to be "White Noise". Replaceing one white noise with another becomes moot when it's the Tennius they don't want. My tinnius has gotten worse since my retirement, but then, I'm not surrounded by all the various noise's I once was. So I have considerably more time in which I basically have nothing to do, but listen to the dam white noise referred to as tinnius. I'm 74 and reside in an area of Mexico's middle far west coast called Mazatlan. Though I don't speak Spanish, at night when I'm going to sleep, I leave the TV on but at an extremely low volume. The low volume casue my tinnius to be or seem to be considerabnly less. There are all sort's of devices one can purchase which do the same thing, they simply replace the unwanted white noise, with another more conducive to their listening.
