Top 10 Guns used in movies - From James Bond’s PPK to Dirty Harry’s Smith & Wesson, we feature the Top Ten guns used most commonly in cinema. This is an defendandcarry.com production. We showcase only real guns depicted in motion pictures on this list, and have scoured the Hollywood movie world to bring you the best of the best.
Some modern-day films are best remembered by their guns, which is why we have made this detailed list of famous firearms that we see most commonly on TV and movies. What type of movie would Predator be with the absence of guns?
How cool would Dirty Harry really be while lacking his signature weapon?
Guns in action movies are so crucial to our favorite movies, so to not construct a video about guns in movies would just be illogical. When you hear the iconic Clint Eastwood line: “You feelin' lucky, Punk?”, it is nearly impossible not to subconsciously associate his 44 magnum Smith & Wesson iconic handgun.
When you think of a mini-gun, almost immediately after thoughts of Arnold Schwarzenegger welding the gun in the movie “Predator” follow. We make sure to feature practically all of those iconic, memorable gun moments in movies within this video. Firearms have always played a big part in the cinema, whether it’s depicting realism, creating tension, or for just plain ridiculousness.
When we say “Top 10 Guns in Movies”, that is not just a mere speculation, each of the guns mentioned were researched heavily upon to determine which firearms have been featured on the big screen the most. Not only will your experience watching this video be entertaining, but incredibly educational.

This video includes clips from numerous Hollywood movies, featuring guns such as the Smith & Wesson Model 29, The 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun, the M1811/A1, The AK-47, M16 Rifle, Micro Uzi, Mini-gun, Desert Eagle, The Walther PPK, and Beretta 92F/Fs.
There are actually variants of minigun, that you can fire from hip! And no MP5? That piece was virtually in every action movie once!
Eh, you can't really hand operate one. At least, not practically at all.
@@Skrenja action movies aren't required to be practical.
Mac 10/Mac 11/Uzi, M1911, M9, Glock series (mainly G17), M4 carbine, M16, G36, Revolvers, shotguns, MP5, M1 garand, Thompson SMG
Ak 47
you did the beretta but did not show a scene from lethal weapon really??
He didn't even show any John Woo movies (like Hard Boiled, The Killer, or A Better Tomorrow 1 and 2) either and that's Woo's favorite gun to use in movies.
Armageddon survival or boondock saints...
or matrix he has like 6 off this mother fuckers on him .are Leon ?
Also in Face Off, Broken Arrow, Hard Target as well.
Or John McClane aka Bruce Willis from all the Die Hard movie
What about the Colt single-action Army? The one featured in every western?
Or Winchester rifle, yip tell me about it.
I love how you show Austin Powers Goldmember for the Desert Eagle.
What about the thompson smg it was used in every single gangter and ww2 movie ever and also the colt single action army there are more movies with it than i can count
That was a scene from 'Dirty Harry' not 'Sudden Impact'.
Chris Tucker's Baretta 92fs Inox was the gun I've always wanted...
And 20 years later, I finally bought one.
It’s a wonderful firearm!
That part in kick ass was hilarious when you realize he wasn't going to kill her.
I feel like the most iconic gun of all time would have to be the Thompson sub machine gun ( the tommy gun )
#9 is incorrect the boomstick from evil dead 2 and 3 is a stoeger coach gun
Although Ash calls his double barreled shotgun a Remington, the gun used in film is a Stoeger.
Awesome video
Where is the MP5, M4, G36, Glock, SPAS-12, AUG?
great video
And the glock?
Good gun but it looks boring
Love the video i love the james bond ppk pistol it is so cool i love james bond films
I love berretta.great video
US Marshal Samuel Gerard would not be happy that you forget his Glock 22.
You can fill it with _sand_ and it will still fire.
+szeddezs no it won't that's stupid it's reliable yea but you can't fill it full of sand and yea I own several Glocks and have 20 years experience with them so I'm not just talking out my ass.
@@secondswell I was - badly - quoting a movie
ruclips.net/video/0YJP_FORoik/видео.html
See Die Hard about Glock 7
Hank from Breaking Bad would also be having a panic attack too
Remington Pump-Action Shotguns, Winchester Level action gun, MP5 submachine gun, Glock, M60 machine gun, Browning 50 cal heavy machine gun, 38 special revolver, 357 magnum revolver. There are many guns missing in the list.
Also should highlight La Femme Nikita, Leon The Professional, John Wick series, The Expandables, Wolf Warrior 1 & 2.
There are so many guns that appear in films more than a few on this list. Glocks are featured more than some of these, M4 in a lot of films like Heat and others, AK should’ve been number 1 for sure.
how can it be semi automatic and a submachine gun and it is generally considered a machine pistol and the full size a submachine gun
I wish they'd do this for TV Shows. I pretty much figure Lucas McCain's lever action rifle would get close to the top spot.
Love to hear someone reference The Rifleman!! ❤
Beretta m9!
Beretta 92F = Beretta M9
M9 was merely the US Army designation.
It’s #1 bud.
awesome, typical hollywood
Word of advice check facts. The m134 mini gun is a hand held weapon out fitted with a 5,000 round backpack for ammunition:)
Colt single action army
It is the most iconic gun period literally been in thousands of movies
Been used in every single situation where a gun was needed at one time or another has been victorious in all situations but has failed in all situations aswell has been in continous production by colt and clone manufacturers for 150 years except during world war 2 has had many attempts to improve it over the years all improvements have actually not been good except for the addition of adding a better safety and improvements to the sites
So the peacemaker is the absolutely without a doubt the most iconic and recognizable hand gun in the movies and the world
And there simply is no arguing about it
It's always to see new models
the Deagle is my favorite movie gun
I think left the most iconical of all and every ganster used it The Thompson submachine gun, also known informally as the "Tommy Gun", "Annihilator", "Chicago Typewriter", "Chicago Piano", "Chicago Style", "Chicago Organ Grinder", "Trench Broom", "Trench Sweeper", "The Chopper", and simply "The Thompson". And I called it "the ganster's machine gun"
It’s a common gun, but it hasn’t been used in nearrrlly as many movies as the Beretta 92. Like the narrator said-over 400 movies since the Beretta first came out. Crazy!
When I first saw T2 I thought the helicopter pilot said "Zambini gun" because "Damn mini gun" made no sense that thing is huge!!!
Except for the dillon minigun, I own all of these.. best guns ever. Thanks,
Also what about Sniper weapons in The Accountant, Smoking Aces, Saving Private Ryan, Assassin.
I'm really surprised I didn't see an mp5 on this list and I disagree with the walther being on spot 2 sure the gun is iconic but to me I see different guns a lot more in movies
Say hello to ma little friend.
The way he said “Uzi”😂
Beretta the choice of gun for Robocop, Tetragrammaton Cleric, Leon and Martin Riggs.
The right call for the number one slot👍
"The Desert Eagle is the most powerful semiauto pistol in the world"
.475 Wildey Survivor: The world you live in must be a shitty world then
It’s an absolute crime that you didn’t even list nor mention Franchi Spas-12 and the MP5.. I edited this because I didn’t watch the whole video but I still rest my case on the shotgun and sub-machine gun mentioned above
NO, the most used handgun is the Colt Sinla Action 45 Long Colt used in the thousands of Western Movies, and is still being used.
Fine list. But you mention James Bond with the Walthier and not John Woo with the Beretta? lol
A young boy talking about guns he has only played with on video games or seen in film. You forgot the Colt SAA Army.
What about the Smith & Wesson model 36 revolver, 38 special snubby? Goodfellas all over, Taxi Driver (Travis, second nickel plated gun), The Deer Hunter......
My list
Double barrel shotgun
357 magnum
44 magnum
Walter ppk
mossberg shotgun
M60
M249
Desert eagle
Ak47
M16/m4
RPG
Glock Variants
SIG Sauer P226
Mp5
Beretta 92
not a glock fan boy by far,but they've been in alot of movies an shows, should've been at least #8
You said semi automatic submachinegun.....
Oh and you missed out the Heckler and Koch MP5 A6 & MP5-K. those have been used in a million action flicks.
James Bond in Casino Royale used the Walther P99
Cool list bro, but come on man where's Die Hard and Lethal weapon or any of the John Woo films!?!
M16 rifle was not used in Spy Who loved me, those were at least in your clip after Scarface were Sterling sub machine guns.
1910 18 they were both used check out 1:23 of the breakout scene
ruclips.net/video/gWOhH4eI7vs/видео.html
Glock 17, Hk MP5, and the Thompson should all be up there
Love a good micro “youzi”
I know Dirty Harry is iconic with the Model 29 .44 Magnum but you are all forgetting another iconic film that used the .44 Magnum by another famous actor!
TAXI DRIVER!!!!!!!!!
ROBERT DeNIRO!!!!!!!!!!!
What about the Thompson?
"The Beretta has so much character and is so powerful, " Woo says. "It can load 17 (well, 15, unless u have 15 in the magazine and 1 in the chamber) bullets, and when it fires, it has a kind of passionate rhythm. The song of gunfire, that pow-pow-pow-pow can have also a kind of fury. I think it is right for my hero. I also knew that this gun is just right for Chow Yun-fat's hand--his hands are so strong. When he's holding a small pistol, it looks like he's holding a toy. It's not solid. If he's holding a machine gun, his hands make him look stupid. A special gun should be for a man with special qualities." ---- John Woo
There's also the model from the resident evil series, the samurai edge used by S.T.A.R.S members.
You said Uzi "you-zee" it's supposed to be pronounced "oo-zee" just so you know :)
in english its You-zee.
Bullshit
Son of my Father in any language you have too call it by is name, so if it's called oo-zee or you-zee it must be called as the fabricator names pronounce it.
Oozi neib millemeeteh
Oozee nein millemeeteh
I feel like the M1911 appears more often than the Desert Eagle and the M9 Beretta
1911 FTW
what about the h&k USP pistols?
Tomb Raider. I also wondered about those, along with the M-60 from the Rambo Franchise
How could you forget the Franchi SPAS 12. The first Terminator movie, Arnie killing all the cops in the police station. It was in so many action movies in the 80s and 90s. The Wraith, Jurassic Park, The matrix. How could you!!!! I have owned two of them.
"You-zi" LOL
Double barrelled shotguns take too much time to load which is why I prefer pump action shotguns
M60 GPMG!
You forgot the M41A Pulse Rifle MK2 :)
Huh, tought the mp5 would be here
Can’t believe there isn’t a glock on this list.
i feel like you couldve made a list of 20 or 40
No Taxi Driver clip for the Model 29???
Can't get behind that.
I was expecting ad least a Glock!
The Micro Youzi...
KG99 or TEC-9 in 30+ movies.
I have only ever fired a real rifle twice in my life
I have always fantasized about firing a hand gun...
But one thing that strikes me about action movies is
You really see hand guns being used point blank at people with brick or metal or concrete walls behind them
Like in alley ways
What about the potential of bouncing bullets and rebounding shots injuring yourselves or others
Do police have special training for such a thing
Would using a 22 round be safer for a wrestling or grappling situation were a person is held down and show against a wall or street
Preventing bullet bounce back and preventing chance of shooter wounding themselves
Winner winner
1 year free dinner
Spokane .007 FM radio
you forgot the m82a1, Tomson 45acp smg, m2hb 50cal machine gun and m1 grand
What about HK MP5 ,MP40, Thompson
Why did the T1000's Beretta 92 in Terminator 2 sound like a laser in that movie??
Colt single action army/dragoon and Winchester lever actions, In lots of westerns films.
I love berreta and 1911
and in your second clip the pistol was a pp and the 92 is no easier to use than any other modern semi auto and you forgot the peacmaker
So a basic af double barrel shotgun makes the list pretty much on Ash alone and you leave off the SPAS-12 that was used in Jurassic Park, The Terminator, and pretty much every 80’s and some 90’s action films????
You forgot a very important point: How easy is it to adapt them to blank fire. Lugars rarely used as they are notoriously non reliable as is the Tommy Gun (all variants M1921,27,27 and M-1). In toll booth scene of The Godfather, you can see actors canting Tommy Guns and constantly clearing jams. Apparently it wasn't until Saving Private Ryan that heavily modified M-1 Thompsons were rigged to fire a specially designed and extended blank that some semblance or reliability established
The M9 Beretta and variants very easy to adapt, with a restrictive barrel and non-functioning locking block making them a reliable choice. Same with the Walther P-38/P1.
The M1911/1911A1 a very difficult pistol to blank adapt and many movies, Pulp Fiction foe example, use a Spanish Star pistol that externally resembles 1911, but is obvious by the visible extractor on right side of the slide. AKs and ARs very easy to blank adapt simply with bore restrictors as is the Uzi and PPK. Manually or electrically operated guns such as double barrel shot gun and Mini-gun don't need to rely on blank power to operate.
Sorry kids - you can piss and moan all you want but Glocks are in hundreds of movies...
I would have switched the walther ppk with mp5 or colt single action Army. I also would switch the beretta m9/92fs with the Desert Eagle. They should be in each other's spot.
*Try The Walther*
No John woo movies for the beretta 92 ? Lol
He says (U z) when it’s said (ooo z)
The Thompson should have been included.
In Silver Bullet they actually used Smith and Wesson model 66
I would say... The RoboCop gun, or Rambo M60 gun, or Alien 'smart gun'. And obviously...the minigun.
A lot of sensitive tacticool kids hurt that their favorite plastic toy, a Glock, was not included.
The gunworld, even in Hollywood, does not revolve around Glock. They may be common, but they are not as iconic and don’t have the character that the 1911 or Beretta does.
you-zee. I lol'd
I think the Glock should have been in there as well.
WE'RE ARE THE GLLOCKS
Wasn't the one in Se7en actually a Kimber?
What was the gun James Bond used before he adopted the Walter PPK? (Good trivia question, amirite)
Should have included Glock
At 4:44 that's is a full size Uzi not a micro Uzi
Yeah, but where's the Auto-9? It's more powerful.
What about the winchester rifle the m4rifle and the m79 grenade launcher
