It's quite a shame that these ladies are not receiving the level of accolades other runners have. They have both made SERIOUS history. I was rooting relative unknown in this discipline Nadia in the 5K, too. And Beatrice to be only the third woman to win gold in the 5K and 10K at the same Olympics! Are you kidding me??!! That is no small feat!! SUPER YEA to both!!! I would LOVE to see bad-ass, versatile Sifan make a STATEMENT in the marathon--that would be something!!!
Congratulations to the two ladies. We Kenyans are really very happy for what Chebet did. It's the first time in Kenya to have one athlete winning two golds in Olympics.
The Italian put on a fantastic Sprint to almost catch Chebet, five more yards and I think she would have had gold, but hats off to Chebet, the distance double is no easy task by far. Excellent strategy for her race. BUT what the heck happened to Parker Valby😮. I am shocked at her performance, or lack of. She dominated in the US all season , she makes the Olympics, and not only did she not medal, she didn't even get a cookie. Nor did Schweizer. 😢
Valby needs some time to learn how to run with the big girls. Competing in college does not prepare you for the big time. African runners have more at stake with their running than Valby does. Regardless of how well she runs she will always have privelege.
@@chrisallen2005 Excuse me! Stop these silly stereotypes of Africans running better because they are underprivileged. Listen, Beatrice Chebet is a middle ranked police officer in Kenya. Her future is very bright without athletics. At just 24, she is likely to rise to senior most ranks in the Kenyan police service. Secondly, through athletics Chebet has earned a lot of money and is probably wealthier than any ordinary citizen of your country. Just learn to enjoy sports as a human enterprise without attributing everything to who runs because of poverty and who runs for pleasure. That is an old line of thinking. In Kenya, where Chebet and I come from, life is so enjoyable that all you need is just a little income and you are settled. Our loved ones, friends, our wild life, clean air, forests and parks are amazing. Don't assume that every African is poor and suffering and that is why they do athletics with passion.
@chrisallen2005 yeah, you got a point there. I'm just disappointed because I wanted her to do well. She's been such a joy to watch race these past few years.
You haven't been paying attention. Nothing ''happened'' to Valby - she ran a time similar to her recent races. She is not world-class: her 10km and 5km times are far from world record pace, and she would need years of hard training to become world-class - probably not by 2028 Olympics, maybe by 2032 (she needs to drop 4 seconds per lap for the 5 km, about 5 seconds per lap for the 10km). The winner Cheney ran a slow, tactical race, almost 2 minutes slower than her world record (sub 29 minutes) set in May 2024. Had Chebet run a sub 29 again, she would have finished about a lap and a half ahead of Valby.

it would be so awesome if Sifan gets at least a medal, 32 hours after a medal in the 10k.
In LIFE, the real most important people...are almost always the less popular. Sometimes an image works commercially more for the media businesses etc.
Congratulations to the two ladies. We Kenyans are really very happy for what Chebet did.

Well Chebet did run 5000m before so you can't really compare

So the Italian girl has 🇲🇦 roots
Nadia is part Moroccan! That explains her success!

oh Nadia is also from Morocco , now I understand
@@Taralalalalaaa Nadia has an Italian father and Moroccan mother, both athletes, but she was born and raised in Italy, in a small town in the Alps.
